Chapter 88 Recap His wife lay on the bed as there was one nurse checking on her blood pressure while the doctor was about to leave the room. She come up to him and he immediately asked...
"How is Ishita?"
"She's doing great, just tired. Your son is absolutely fine as well. He's a good 7 pounds and very healthy."
"Thank you so much!" He shook the doctor's hand thanking God for the safe delivery.
"Congratulations once again!" The doctor smiled at him before she left the room followed by the nurse leaving the couple alone...
Chapter 89 "Feeling okay?" He came over placing a soft kiss on her forehead before he said down. He caressed her hair as she lay on the bed exhausted from the past few hours.
"Yea, just sore and still fat..." She said in a quiet tired tone and pouted at the end pointing to her stomach making him chuckle.
"You won't be completely flat right away silly."
"At least there was a baby a few minutes ago the round stomach. Not anymore."
"You're still very pretty." She smiled wearily and signalled him to come closer. As he did, she reached over cupping his face to bring him in for a kiss when a nurse walked in making them move away quickly. He sat by her holding her hand while she looked around not knowing what to say or do.
"I called Maa, Amma and Appa." He broke the awkward silence.
"What did they say?!"
"Everyone was just so overwhelmed. They couldn't say much besides they will come here soon. They are all very excited to meet him." All her thoughts went back to how he wasn't able to hold their son yet and asked him the same wondering if he got that chance before.
"Have you held him yet?"
"No, not yet. And I'm scared to."
He looked at the ground while she looked at him surprised. But it didn't take long for her to understand where his fears came from. Remembering how he had told her he didn't hold Ruhi until she was over a month old, she could understand his fears and worries because of all he went through when she was born.
And on top of that she remembered the last time he had cried to her after telling her he was scared. It was when he was worried about the baby accepting him as its father. Her heart went out to him when he was so scared after being the happiest he had ever seen him a while back. Knowing he had always been assuring and by her side when it came to matters related to Ruhi, she realized now she would have to do the same with him.
She sat up with some difficulty due to her aching body and then ran her hand over his head...
"Raman it's the best feeling in the world."
"I know, but I don't want to hurt him."
"You won't." She made him face her. He looked at her and her eyes and two words gave him all the assurance he needed. Her trust and belief that he would be able to handle their son brought a smile on his face and the happiness was all she wanted to see.
She opened her arms to take him into a hug knowing there were many emotions running in him at the moment and he moved closer to her with teary eyes. He placed his head on her chest while she soothed him by running her hand through his hair. After a few moments, he felt better and relaxed in her arms, so he parted back not wanting to hurt her in any way.
"But you will help me?" He asked sitting back down on the stool.
"Of course I will." Her smile brightened up seeing him excited once again. Now all she wanted was for him to be able to be around their son the same way he would with Ruhi. Every time she saw him with Ruhi, she had wished to see a similar relationship with their baby and now she wanted to help him in getting the same. He gave her a load of time with Ruhi so they could bond and now it was her turn to do the same for him.
"Is he really light? Like could you actually feel him in your arms?!" He asked excitedly asked her.
"He's kind of light. But I'm used to holding Ruhi, so it seems like it."
"And now you will decide for yourself." She looked at the door where the nurse walked in with their son bundled up in a blue blanket. She came over to them and handed him to Ishita telling them she would be back in a few moments before leaving the room.
He watched Ishita cradled him in her arms amazed at the little baby. He looked at his son who was only looking up at his mother and not doing much, but still had the ability to excite his parents so much.
"Ishita he looks so much like you! His eyes are exactly like yours!" He forward his hand to run over the baby's head, but back off scared. She forward the baby to him and assured him once again with her eyes.
He forward his arms hesitantly and she placed their son into his arms. Carefully asking him to support the baby's head, she moved his hands to make it comfortable for him and for the baby. She slowly moved her hands back when he was busy looking at their son and unknowingly so engrossed in admiring the baby he didn't even notice.
It took him a few moments to let it sink in that this was the child he was been longing to hold in his arms for months and this was the baby for who had been preparing for months. His eyes watered realizing he was a father once again and now his family had grown with his additions. There was his son in his arms.
Her eyes were teary when she saw him bring leaning over to kiss his son's forehead happily.
"Ishita, he's..." He tried to say something, but no words could justify his feelings at the moment when the baby snuggled close to his chest and the only words that came out of his mouth for his wife were...
"I love you!" He exclaimed grateful for this being able to live this experience yet again.
"And I love you! Do you know me? I'm your Papa, who kept on annoying you when you were in Mumma's tummy. I was waiting for you since forever! Finally you came to me..." He looked down and smiled at the baby who smiled back at him making Raman look at the baby astonished.
Ishita looked on confused wondering what Raman saw that he become quiet and stopped smiling. She tapped Raman's shoulder making him look up and seeing the tears in his eyes, she questioned with her own what was wrong. Worried he saw something that hurt him through that baby was her biggest fear remembering their conversation about the baby's looks...
"Ish...Ishita look. He smiled and..." Raman forwarded their smiling son to her and a broad smile was on everyone's faces. She looked back and forth between her husband and her son, admiring their wide smiles and the dimples that adorned both faces when they did so.
"Mumma's boy! You are already giving Mumma everything she wanted the moment you came to us!" Raman rocked the baby in his arms while she looked on enjoying the same.
That only last a few minutes though since soon the nurse returned with her food tray and baby started to cry, so Raman handed him back to Ishita knowing the baby needed to be fed. Once she began to feed the baby assisted by the nurse, he asked her if she wanted something to eat knowing she had only eaten since dinner last night. Getting a quiet nod from her, he began to cut some of the fruits placed for her as she continued to feed the baby.
With their son fast asleep and put into his cradle as well as the nurse leaving, Raman sat on the edge of the bed facing her. He forward her the fruits cut up for her and began to feed her quietly. She ate without a word until he picked up a bowl of kichadi and was about to feed her. She refused to open her mouth not wanting to eat what he was feeding her.
"Raman, you should eat too. He's sleeping now and I've eaten some." He understood what she was trying to do by asking him to eat.
"Don't worry, Maa is bringing breakfast."
"That's not fair! I get these bland porridges and you get Mummyji's paranthas?!" She complained while he chuckled at her childish behaviour.
"It's just a few days. Once you recover in a little bit, Mummyji will pamper you more than me!"
"Come on Raman, ask Mummyji to bring me something from home. I don't want this bland stuff. It doesn't need to be dishes drenched in ghee, but something better than this. Please!" She pouted sadly in front of him melting him like always.
"Okay I'll ask Maa to bring something for you. But not now, from tomorrow onwards. Okay?"
"Raman!" She complained.
"Ishita!" He sternly looked at her and knowing not to test his anger, she opened her mouth for him to feed her. He smiled while she frowned and began to feed her.
"Good, now hurry up and finish this." He said after feeding her a few buts and asked her if she wanted to eat the rest herself.
"Why hurry? Are you going anywhere?"
"No I just want to see him." He looked over at the cradle in which the baby lay asleep.
"Oh wow! Now that your son is here, all you're going to do is want to be with him and pamper him. Then what about me?! " She complained like a child once again.
"Ishita, you're such a child!" He shook his head at her and continue to feed her while this time she ate happily as he was the one feeding her.
Once she was done eating, the nurse returned to check on Ishita and the baby once again. He excused himself with an office call and went out making Ishita realize he had been with her the entire time and hadn't eaten or slept properly. So when he came back, she asked him to sleep on the couch in the room until somebody from the family came to be with her. Agreeing since he was tired of running around since 4am, he headed to the couch but there were loud cries filling the room before he could do so.
He went over to pick up his son and hand him over to Ishita when the ward's door opened to their entire family. In a few moments, she had received many hugs and blessings from everyone before they all went over to Raman to see their son. Seeing so many people and the crowding, he began to cry. In an attempt to calm him, Raman aske everyone to move back for a moment as he rocked the baby in his arms attempting to calm him while taking him to Ishita.
Seeing her parents busy with another child and not acknowledging her presence like they always did, Ruhi began to join her brother with the crying made everyone turn towards her. Looking at each other, Raman and Ishita didn't know whether to be frustrated or laugh at the situation they had to deal with. However Raman continued to try and calm the newborn child, while Ishita took the chance to open her arms for Ruhi...
"Ru, my baby! Why are you crying?! Mumma's here for her pumpkin, right?!"
Ruhi jumped from her grandmother's arms trying to reach for Ishita. Giving a sorry look Santosh handed Ruhi to Ishita who rested her daughter on her chest caressing her hair. Ruhi hugged her and glared at Raman who was cradling her brother in his arms instead of her. As their children calmed down and they took a deep breath in relief while the family watched the scenario in front of them. Mihika couldn't help but break the silence and teased her sister and brother-in-law...
"Looks like they have their hands full! Jiju hope you're not planning another one soon!" The entire room burst into laughter while Raman and Ishita couldn't stop themselves from blushing remembering his remark from the delivery room.
"Oho! So much blushing! Maybe I'll just have to shift to the Bhalla house to watch over kids if they really plan on one more."
"Be quiet Mihika!" Her Amma scolded her, but couldn't stop her laughter seeing the couple red in embarrassment.
"Okay so are you done with your teasing now? You all want to see the baby or continue laughing?" He asked after a minute when they wouldn't stop giggling at them.
"Sorry, now show me my nephew!" She opened her arms for the small baby and everyone took their turn spending time with the new arrival in the family.
Meanwhile Raman went ahead to try and pacify his drama queen who was clinging onto her mother. Knowing Ishita was in pain from the delivery, he wanted Ruhi to come to him and let Ishita get the rest she needed. He apologized to her holding her ears and opened his arms for her, but she refused to come.
And it didn't help with Appa came to hand the baby to him. The whimpering child calmed in his arms closing his eyes to sleep while Ruhi clung onto to Ishita.
"Ru, baby you won't come to Papa?" She looked up at him and pouted before she continued to hug Ishita...
"Mum...Mumma..." The room went silent hearing Ruhi's first word.
"Raman...Raman she...Mumma..." Ishita's voice choked hearing the word she and Raman had been waiting to hear for months now.
There were times when they tried to make sense about the gibberish she spoke and argued about what she would say first, but they never could ever make Papa or Mumma out of the things she said.
Today when she did, there were left speechless. Tear fell from her eyes on hearing her daughter's words. Though she argued with Raman, she always felt like Ruhi would say Papa first. Never had she thought she would be called a mother by her before she said anything else. Though she was loved by Ruhi without any conditions and limits, she never imagine her to be so loved by her daughter that her first word would be for her.
Mumma; her happiness knew no bounds as her daughter repeatedly called her.
At the moment, it didn't matter how much pain she was in, she hugged Ruhi tightly while tears made her down to the curve her lips had formed. Kissing her forehead she told her pumpkin how much she loved her making the child break into a bright smile as everyone looked on with tears in their eyes seeing the bond between the two especially Raman's eyes...

"You know we can't call my son baby all the time."
"So what do you want to call him?"
"Well he put me into a tough situation. I have so many girl names in mind, but none for him yet."
"I have one name..."
"What?"
"Aryan..." She whispered worried about his reaction and the name made him freeze in his spot.
He turned to her and looked into her eyes as if trying to figure her out. Did she know what this name was to him? Did she know what no one else knew, the one thing he kept to himself?
