I laughed reading this. Yes Dayaans and supernatural themes like Naagin can bring in TRP's but only if the show had a concept like that to start with. Just coz you stick a Dayaan or a Naagin or some Black magic into an existing show without any rhyme or reason, it does not work the same way! Clear indication is that this new Season of their's based on Dayaan and her family failed to get the type of appreciation they expected with High TRP!

Fact remains, when the Dayaan was introduced we didn't even know she was one, and when it was revealed, no one expected her to outlive the leads. (Well this is QH, we should have know that is what would happen). But since they did it once with the villain Tanveer, we didn't expect them to be SO un-original yet again, but they proved us wrong! People dont mind seeing these type of things, as long as they have a use by date, and is kept in balance. Unless the story is of a Naagin or some such thing to start with, which is a different thing.

I feel sorry for Gorky if he thinks that you can just introduce Black magic and witches to a story that had NO basis to have those things, and people will love it. Everyone thought it was nonsense, but they kept watching coz they were invested in the story. If not their Dayaan was not going to save their show. It's pretty clear in Season 4 she could not, and now they are killing her! Gorky has proven how smart he is with these comments.

Cant compare this joke of a Black magic to what happened on CAS. That always showed that Bindusara's first queen Maharani Charumithra was using Voodoo to try and get an "edge" over her enemies. It was a well established fact. In fact practicing Voodoo was prohibited to anyone in the palace other than sanctioned people they used to get info about their enemies. With Charumithra it was shown from the start. They didnt just suddenly show her doing Voodoo out of nowhere! Also, she is human, not a Dayaan! Lol.

Anyways, even in Western shows Supernatural themes have been popular for a long time. Take Buffy the Vampire Slayer from the 90's. What a cult hit it was! Even the series "Charmed". But if they had taken Beverly Hills 90201 (also a 90's hit) and suddenly had Brenda (the main girl) doing Black magic, that show would have gone down the plug hole! Looks like Gorky cant tell the difference of when such themes are suited, and when they are not. I hear their new show is full of Snakes and rebirths and all sorts of magical things! Good for them! At least they started off that way, so it doesn't look fake and like a gimmick!
