Wow

Hey Reethika! Glad you liked the update so much especially the portrayal of Ishita's and Raman's emotions! Glad you liked how he doesn't give up for her and wants to do anything he can to fulfill her dream of a child! I'm very happy you liked the bit where Ishita finds any compliment about kids or general statement as a taunt since she feels incapable of giving a child to Raman! Thank you so much for liking the lovely comment!

Chapter 1 Recap

The next two hours he juggled between his work and the numerous tabs he had open as he looked at the profiles of numerous fertility clinics analysing & comparing every detail he could between the different clinics. He even called his & Ishita's physician for a recommendation which ended up in another 30 minutes of reading through their website. Finally as he was getting ready to leave the office, he took another look at the two clinics he had shortlisted to talk about with Ishita. And with that, he hoped that someone in these two clinic would be able to help him and his wife in successfully getting a child of their own...

Chapter 2

He walked into the loud apartment and the first thing he did was look for her. As usual she came running to him with her saree tucked in by her waist and her hair messily put up into a bun. Taking his tiffin and handing him a glass of water, she went back to the kitchen to continue her work. He called out to her and asked her to come sit with him since he wanted to talk to her about the matter at hand as soon as he could.

However as she was about to walk over to him, Sarika called her over asking her if she could watch over Rohit for a while she went out to buy groceries. Ishita agreed and took the infant in her arms and when he wanted to talk to her, he was brushed off saying she was very busy as she placed Rohit in his baby chair and sat on the dining table chopping vegetables preparing for the family's dinner.

Unwillingly he went into the bathroom to change and freshen up while she did her housework. When he came outside she was heading down to the pharmacy to pick up his mother and father's medicine. He gave up on getting a chance to talk to her until they were in the privacy of their room considering how engrossed she was in the household work and everyone's dependency on her.

Instead he sat down in their room with his laptop going back to what he had been doing in his office. He began to think about how he would talk about this topic to Ishita since he knew how vulnerable she had become in this matter.

Sighing he leaned back on the headboard thinking about how much she had heard from people and how much she had cried over the same. It would take very little effort to convince her, but it would take a lot of effort to see her tears and sadness when it came to children.

But he reminded himself of why he was doing this. He just wanted it all to end, he wanted to end all that gloominess on her face, he wanted to see their child play in her arms and he wanted to see his wife happy like she had been in the beginning of their marriage. With that thought, he couldn't stop a tear from rolling down his cheek.

Quickly wiping it off before anyone saw, he opened his eyes to seeing Romi running into the room. He came over to him busy on his phone and placed his hand on his laptop...

"Bhai, I need the laptop!"

"Romi! Don't you have any manners?!" Raman quickly closed the tabs he had open not wanting anyone to see anything before he would talk to Ishita about this.

"Sorry, but please can I have it? It's really urgent!" Romi apologized wondering what happened to his brother all of a sudden.

"One minute..." Raman quickly made sure there was nothing on the fertility clinic left open for his brother to see and once assured, he handed Romi his laptop telling him he needed it back in an hour.

And with that he went outside to finish his office's paperwork. It had become his daily routine for the past few months to sit on the floor of the living room to work while he had Rohit by his side. Ishita's eyes were always watching Raman when he came outside after changing to see him sit down near Rohit and play with him. She always adored from afar and would join the duo whenever she had a moment from her own work. Watching Raman with kids had always been a soothing sight to her eyes. He adored them more than anything, loved their company, he was the sweetest when he was with children and oftentimes he become a child with them as well.

However it wasn't just Raman, the entire house seemed to revolve around the small member of the family who had just arrived a few months back. But Raman and Ishita were the ones most attached to him after his parents and always eager to spend time with him. Although they never noticed the same, everyone else in the family noticed their happiness with the baby and their sadness when they were reminded they were simply his aunt and uncle who couldn't spend their entire time with him. But like every other bitter truth, they took it in with a smile and tried to spend as much time with their nephew as they could.

And that's exactly what Raman did. He picked up Rohit from his cradle and began to rock him talking about his day to the baby who not understanding a words, was in awe of his uncle. He played with his nephew until his phone rang. Picking up the call, he was scared of handling Rohit while talking so he placed him back in his cradle making the infant cry. Those cries got the attention of everyone and seeing the baby's attachment with Raman, no one could stop themselves from smiling at them. Immediately disconnecting the call, Raman picked him up again while Ishita looked on. She got so lost seeing them together that she didn't remember she was standing in front of hot stoves and she accidently touched the boiling hot pot...

"Ouch!" She held her hand in pain making everyone look at her.

"Ishita!" "Bhabhi!" Everyone rushed to her while Raman handed Rohit to Romi to tend to his wife.

"What are you doing? Can't you see?! Sarika, get some ice please." He grabbed her hand looking to see how badly she had hurt herself while she looked on innocently at his concern.

"Sorry I got distracted." She made him shake his head as he carefully put some ice concentrated solely on relieving her pain. She smiled at his reaction on a tiny burn while the whole house surrounded her as if something big had happened.

"Now sit down with this for a few minutes." He pulled her to the dining table and made her sit keeping the ice on her hand while she was not someone who liked that at all.

"No I'm okay, I have to finish cooking." She got up adamantly and he let her go on knowing there was no point in trying to convince her. In a few moments everyone returned to their work including Ishita, but she knew her husband's eyes were continuously on her checking if she was okay...

~~~~~
After dinner, the entire family sat in the living room with all the men watching a cricket match excitedly and Santosh bringing glasses of milk for everyone while Sarika and Ishita were folding the laundry as they watched over Rohit. While watching the match, Raman and Romi's excitement was way too loud for the whole house making Rohit wake up from his nap wailing. After getting scolded by Sarika and Ishita, the two brother calmed down making their parents and wives laugh. It was then Sarika saw one of Ishita's sarees.
"Bhabhi, can I borrow this saree for my friend's party?" Sarika picked up one of Ishita's pink kanjivaram sarees showing it to her.
"Sarika she only has those kanjivarams, do you want to wear those?!" Raman asked ready to annoy Ishita.
"I love them a lot, they're so beautiful!" His sister-in-law exclaimed unaware of what Raman was doing.
"Romi, keep your wife away from your Bhabhi or else she will also become a madrasan!" Romi burst out laughing as they high fived earning glares from Ishita and Sarika.
"Quiet you two! Raman you're the one who picked a madrasan for yourself, so there must be something special about those kanjivarams!" Santosh teased her son making the house laugh while Raman and Ishita blushed hearing her remarks.
"Whatever! I'm going off to bed. There's an important staff meeting in the morning. So bye!" He excused himself away from the teasing he brought upon himself while Ishita also followed him quickly wrapping up the laundry...
"What was all that?!" She asked him placing their clothes in their wardrobe.
"Nothing, I just saying what I feel."
"I know you don't like my sarees, but in front of everyone..." She tried to be angry, but couldn't stop her cheeks from turning bright pink.
"I actually don't like your sarees, your dresses, your kurtis, your suits, your-"
"I get it! I look ugly in everything, now happy?" She frowned at him adjusting the clothes in the wardrobe.
"I don't like them because I like you...just you..." He winked at her and understanding what he hinted at, she looked at him open mouthed and shocked.
"Anyways are you done your work? Can I please be blessed enough to get some time with you?"
"Everything's done."
"Finally! You know you can't even get time with your wife in this house!" He said dramatically.
"Raman, kuch bhi!" She told him making him pat the empty spot on the bed next to him.
"Now sit down. I have something very important to tell you!"
"What?" She asked as she saw down next to him. He got up and locked the door of their room, returned to their bed and sat down with his arm wrapped around her. Taking a deep breath, he prayed that this conversation will go smoothly and not hurt her...
"Today I was thinking about...children."
"Raman, I don't want to talk about this." She pulled away from his grip and started to get up to be alone.
She knew he was going to be extremely sensitive with what he said, but this matter just tugged her heartstrings a bit too much. No matter how small the conversation, it would take an emotional toll on her which she didn't want at the moment. She wanted to ignore the situation hoping to get some mental peace.
"We need to one day or the other." He only told her making her turn around.
He looked at her hopefully and she closed her eyes unable to meet his. He wasn't just anyone from the society who wanted to repeatedly bring up this topic for no reason, instead he probably brought this up because he wanted to share her pain with her. Opening her eyes, she looked at her husband. He wasn't any less hurt than she was with what they were going through, and knowing he was the only one who she could open her heart to about this, she sat back down next to him snuggling in close to him.
He waited for a moment letting her have a moment before they talked. She rested her head on his shoulder while he rubbed her back trying to let her know everything was okay and he told her they didn't need to talk if she didn't want to, that he wouldn't force her into anything.
"No I'm fine. You know I just get overwhelmed when this comes up." She wiped off a tiny tear by her eyes and looked at him ready to talk.
"I know its hard Ishita. It is just as hard for me as it is for you to talk. But today I was thinking about this all day and I want to really do something about this rather than sitting waiting for some miracle to happen."
"What do you want to do?"
"I was thinking that it's been 3 years. We've tried and tried, but in vain. I know the doctor said to just try since nothing came out in the tests, but now I think we should consult someone else."
"Why do you think we should ask someone else for an opinion? Because Raman our doctor did tests and said there was nothing wrong with us, so how will going to another doctor help if we get the same results?"
"Ishita we both want a baby and now that we've tried until now only to get nothing, I don't think we have anything to lose by consulting another doctor, especially someone who is a specialist in this matter. Maybe they might just be able to help us." He explained making her think for a moment, maybe he was right that there was no point in doing the same thing over and over to get the same result, maybe another opinion might change things...
"You're right, just trying isn't working. We should see someone else."
"Exactly we need help. So I spent some time looking at different clinics around the city. I found two that seem pretty good."
"You actually did that?!" Her eyes welled seeing all he was willingly to do to fulfill her wish and give her the happiness she wanted.
"Why wouldn't I?" He said in such a sincere tone that it melted her heart making her wrap her arms around his stomach. Resting her head on his chest she smiled looking up at him before she asked.
"What did you find?" He grabbed his laptop with a smile on his face.
"There's this one; Mukherjee Fertility Clinic and the other one is this; New Life Fertility Clinic." He opened up the website of the two clinics to show her
"What's the difference between them?"
"A lot of difference, let me explain."
He told her everything he knew about the two, explaining the difference between the facilities in the two, the doctors, treatment options in the two and every detail he knew. She listened eagerly until she remembered something seeing all the things that were available to them; that they weren't things that come to you without a cost.
"Raman you know these are big clinics, so which one will be less costly?" She looked at him worried. She knew he might brush off the topic, but it meant a lot to her knowing he would struggle to get her what she wants, but won't say a word about it.
"Ishita don't worry about that. I'm there for that, you just look for the one that's better." And he did exactly what she thought he would. She knew there was no point in arguing, but kept this important reminder in the back of her head when he asked her what she thought.
"I think this one should be better." She pointed to the website of the Mukherjee Fertility Clinic.
"Because it's the cheaper one?" He looked at her and knew her well enough to know she always kept the price tag that came with everything in mind.
"No because it's closer to us and on top of that they seem to have a lot of senior doctors and facilities. I think it's better for us. The rest is up to you." She told him all she genuinely thought of the clinic not mentioning the cost factor.
"Then that's okay. I'll call them tomorrow and get the earliest appointment I can get."
He took down the number of the clinic to make an appointment in the morning and closed his laptop. As he put it away and got ready to sleep, she pulled him into a grateful hug. He tightened their hug knowing she was happy and gotten a ray of hope with this step of his.
Now all he wished was that this new found hope of theirs wouldn't be shattered...
