We can't even compare this era music to 90's music . Nor we can compare legends like Sonu , Shaan , udit , Kumar Sanu to today's singers . New Singers are nothing infront of them .

90's Era was something else whether take 90's movies or it's music or Actors .. It was just WOW in every aspect .

agreed 110 %
some of todays singers grunt esp the hugely overrated arijit who sounds like hes out of breath and is forever trying to force bass in his voice
when u listen to the likes of sanu/udit/sonu these guys voices were so effortless blending in so smoothly with the music

The 1990 - 2004 era of Kumar Sanu and Udit Narayan was golden. When Sonu joined them in the late 90s he helped carry it forward. But then it stagnated for a few years
Then, there was a shift towards less melodious and more organic songs with unorthodox song structures and vocal styles: seeing the rise of wonderful signers like Mohit Chauhan, Rahat Fateh Ali Khan and others.

Now in the last few years Arijit Singh and Ankit Tiwari are bringing back that romanticism and I love it. This new era is just too "new" to compare to the 90s era. For now the 90s stands out with far more magical songs. But let's see...

let me put it into you knwledge kumar sanu was out in 2000 ...kumar sanu downfall started in 1999 only Sonu tookover from him ...2000 is the era of Sonu Nigam and Udit Narayan only...it was peak of Sonu Nigam's carrier...unfortunately Udit narayan downfal started after 2004 then Sonu was only left till 2009-2010...side wise there was shaan and kk too ... how can you forget refugee where sonu dubbed kumar sanu all songs :) ...in 2000 Kumar sanu was just on nadeem shravan albums once in a while in 2000...most of the golden songs of 2000 are with Sonu Nigam like Suraj huwa madham , kal ho na ho , do pal ruka kwahboon, Main hoon na ,all Sonu's Tum Bin songs were rage like chote chote raatien, mere duniya main aake mat jaa ...songs of mere yaar ki shaadi hai "Resham si hain yeh hawiayen sanam"..Tanhaaaye from Dil Chahata Hai ...-.etc ..then offcourse Udit narayan were there till 2004...Kumar sanu had very less contribution in 2000 time period which is negligible he dont have any golden hit in 2000 ...on the other hand Sonu Nigam was the constant playback voice of SRK and Salman Khan in 2000 period ...Kumar sanu had his 90's but plz be realistic he was not much part of any legendary song of 2000...and dont take Sonu Nigam's credit out of 2000 music he was golden part of it like shanuw as for 90's ...Sonu had maximum hits compare to kumar sanu in 2000 time period

i agree Kumar Sanu was less popular then Sonu Nigam in the music period of 2000, Shanu actually was there till Nadeem Sharavan were on forefront music composers in bollywood .No one took kumar sanu when Nadeem-Sharvan left the music scene . Kumar carrier was heavenly dependable on his friend composers nadeem saifi and shravan rathord known as Nadeem-Shravan ,, Kumar sanu dominated 90's because of Nadeem Sharavan this is a reality , Neither AR-Rehman give any song to shanu he also opted for Sonu Nigam or Udit Narayan.

You're right, Kumar Sanu faded post 2000.. and Sonu overtook him. Although Sanu was nominated up until 2004 at Filmfare. That was my basis for traction.

I would go with Kumar, Udit and Sonu. Can never get tired of listening to their songs.
