Chap 1

Nandini murthy , was coming out of her mansion , just then she saw audi car stopped in front of the gate .The boy in it signalled her to come with him. She quickly turned towards her driver and said" mohan uncle main uss car mein ja rahi hun, papa ko bata dena , ok?" the driver nodded in affirmation and she rushed and sat inside the car. The driver started the car towards the school. The boy put his arm around nandini's shoulder and pulled her towards himself and said " kaisi h nandu , meri jaaan" nandini elbowed him bringing the driver in his notice and wishpered " tu thori dur reh k baat ni kar sakta hai??" boy chuckled watching her annoyed face and slowly released her but not fully and replied in a wishpered tone, imitating her " i think tujh mein magnet h ar main iron, jaisi hi ek dusre k vicinity me ate hain chipak jate hain, sachii" and he dramatically patted his own shoulder for giving such a wonderful explanation. Nandini looked at him in disbelief and rolled her eyes. Then to change the topic she asked him why he is going so early to school, he replied that today he wanted to go with her that's why he was early. She felt lucky(u will know why, later) . then they talked about the tests and assignments and reached school. They both got down the car and headed towards their class. In the way someone shouted " manikkk" and the boy with nandini turned to look and said " cabir tu chilla q raha h , paas akar ni bol sakta tha???" cabir put his arm around manik and said" tere jitney lambe legs ni h mere, catch up ni kar pata islye i shouted" manik rolled his eyes at the long legs' comment and then the three moved from there chatting and laughing. They reached their class and the rest of the gang were already there. All of them hugged each other with the exception of manik, he didn't allow any girl to hug him except nandini and aliya , mukti, navya very well knew it and were ok with it. After a while class started and everyone concentrated as they were serious about their studies . later the lunch break bell rang and they all were coming out when they saw soha coming towards them and they knew wat is going to follow so they all stood in the corridor in relaxed positions taking support of wall or metal railing, leaving manik alone in the centre . soha was a little away when she said " hey manik, where were u, its been so long i have not seen you" with that she came to hug him hoping , like everytime, that he would allow her but manik is manik!! How could he let such a despo to even touch him so before she could hold him he held her shoulders and stopped her in her track and then he himself stood straight and replied" well i m good soha and i guess we met yesterday just like every other day, so probably u have alzheimers or amnesia, get urself checked plz" soha realised she again became a laughing stock and she left from there faking a smile. Rest of the gang burst out laughing as soon as she left and manik said " show is over guys , lets make a move" everyone followed him . on the way cabir nudged aliya , aliya nudged dhruv, dhruv nudged mukti..and the chain stopped at navya nudging nandini and signalling her that rest of them were going to the canteen which meant that manik needs nandini right now ,alone. After they were gone manik noticed the silence and turned to find only nandini following him. He understood the matter and went and sat on one of the stairs. Nandini sat beside him. Manik kept quiet for a while but then he could not control himself and said " i don't understand these girls yaar why do they keep disturbing me all the time!!" nandini looked at him in an amused manner. Manik continued " sanjana, ruhi, ashka, anuska and now this soha, i don't know wat to do" he looked at nandini and saw her smiling and he asked her in angry tone "why r u smiling like a fool, am i cracking a joke or do you find my problems to be funny!!!" nandini pursed her lips to control her smile and then said " actually u left a few names like nikita, riya, ahana and a few more i guess, even i m not able to remember them all...but the point is u r one of a kind, i mean boys die for so much female attention and here u r frustrated over the same thing, ...ummm i was wondering if u r not into girls then r u gay??" and she laughed like a lunatic and he...he suddenly got into a mischievous mood and pulled her with a jerk towards him, she banged against his chest and stopped laughing. His eyes bored into hers and the intensity of it made her uncomfortable, she shuffled in his embrace but he didn't let her go and said " do you want a proof that i m totally into girls and only girls??" he was bringing his face close to hers slowly, he continued" tell me. Should i prove u, u know na how!!" she stammered " ma..nik..ummm manik malhotra , u don't need to prove me anything but to other gals definitely u need to.." with this she pushed him away with her hands and he left her. She continued "look manik, u already know u have looks that any gal could die for,, plus u have the tag of being the only son and heir of malhotra empire...so wat else gals want in a guy..u have everything ..so they keep pursuing u...its not their fault.." manik listened to her carefully and intently and said " but i don't want them to persue me, i feel bad when i turn down their proposal, but they leave me with no choice and ..." now he continued in an ever charming tone.." and see the irony , the girl i want to fall for me is the one jo mujhe...bhao hi nahi deti hai" he said that pointing his fingers at nandini, a little sheepishsly. Nandini took it as flirting and said" ho gya tumhra nautanki??" he promptly replied " ha ho gya" nandini said " toh ab lunch Karen, bell lagne wali hai" he bobbed his head pouting a little and she opened her lunch box and they shared the food.

MEANWHILE

In canteen mukti abhi cabir navya alya dhruv were sitting around a round table and chatting and having their food.

Cabir: guys i think manik is really fed up of the gals of our school, he looks like a kisan kanhaiya surrounded by gopiyan"

Everyone laughed at his comment.

Abhi : but kisan kanhaiya gopiyo ko bhagate ni rehte the, this is the difference here

Mukti: yeah but hats off to soha haan, she has the shamelessness to keep coming back to manik even after everytime he puts her off.

Alia: i agree mukti she is such a pain

Cabir: but the fact is we can't do anything

Navya: guys listen carefully, see u know gals tried to hit off on cabir too but since me and cabir have come out as a couple, this has stopped

Alia: yeah thats true even in dhruv's case

Abhi: and in my case , i keep running after mukti, and the gals know that

Mukti rolled her eyes at him

Mukti: yeah but wats the point , navya?

Dhruv:i got it , she wants to suggest that manik should also announce that he is taken and the gals will stop dancing around him. Right navya?

Cabir: waah mere sher tut oh shatabdi express nikla

Navya: cabir stop ur jokes . we ae discussing something important

She showed him eyes and he put a finger on his lips as a mark of obedience and navya continued

Navya: good! And yes dhruv u r right

Abhi: arey but this is the main problem na that manik doesnot let any girl even buzz around him

Navya: wat about nandini?? We have seen them together , how comfortable they are and only she is the one with whom manik is so close among girls

Mukti: but that is because nandini and manik have been chaddi-buddies because their parents are friends and business associates and once i have heard nandini telling that manik's family is a distant relative of her chachi.

Navya: yeah i know that , but wat is the problem in getting them together?

All fell silent as navya had a right logic.

Alia: should we talk to them about this? Will it be right?

Mukti: i m confused too

Cabir nudged navya asking for her permission to speak and she smiled and nodded

Cabir: thank god!! ( said dramatically) i felt suffocated..aah..haan so on a serious note i would say that we should think the pros and cons of this, as may be if we suggest this , that will make them awkward with each other and they may think that we think like that about them because of their closeness

Everyone was thoughtful now

Navya: i think we will approach the topic in such a manner that their relationship will not be affected...

Cabir: I don't think this is a good idea

Dhruv: I second that

Cabir: because guys we are now in 12^th and any sort of distractions at this point of time will be most unwelcome

Navya: hmmm I think u r right, let's drop this plan for time being

Just then manik and nandini enter the canteen laughing on some joke and come towards the table where the rest of the gang is sitting.

Cabir: so kisan kanhaiya u r sorted?

Manik: (confused) who kisan kanhaiya?

Dhruv: Tu...we have given u this nickname

All of them giggle at the hidden joke except manic and nandini.

Nandini: arey tell me the joke na , I want to laugh too (childish tone)

Manik: yeah me too, tell

Cabir: the joke is on you manik, the way girls dance around you, it feels like you are kisan kanhaiya surrounded by gopiyan (folds his hand in front of manic as if he is worshipping manik) Jai ho

Manik: yaar ase mt bol, mai tang achuka hun, main kuch karta bhi nahi hun fir bhi they keep coming to me.

Mukti: aaa bechara , larkiyo se tortured ek innocent soul (she pulls his cheek and he makes a babyish face)

Cabir: but manik mere dil me ek khayal aya h, kya mai puch sakta hu?

Manik: ha puch (said in a tired manner)

Cabir: tu gay h kya?

All look at him shocked and then at manik and then burst out laughing, especially nandini, she is the loudest.

Manik: yaaar tum log v ...

Cabir: hmlog v matlab?? Aur kisine v bola tujhse ye?

Manik: ha ye nandini also asked me same thing a while back and I proved her that I m not, u can ask her

Nandini turns red on realising what maanik meant and she looked at him and he winked, which turned her crimson red.

Navya: acha ? kse prove kiya hamein v btao...(excitedly)

Maanik looked at nandini and said "bta dun?"

Nandini whispered to him " shut up shameless creature"

Just then the bell rang and everyone moved to their class.

Rest of the day passed swiftly and now the last bell rang and students headed back to their homes. Maanik and nandini went in manik's car .

AT HOME

Murthy mansion

Chichi : arey u came back beta...manik ni aya tumhre sath?

Nandini: no chikamma , wo apne ghar gya. Chikamma plz give me lunch i m very hungry..

Chachi: nandu..wat chikamma ? kitni baar bola h chachi bol..better lagta h sunne mein

Nandini: no chikamma is good. It sounds so cool to me.. by the way where is mom?

Chachi: wo bahar gyi hain ati hongi, lo tum lunch kar lo and then go and change ..ok?

Nandini: ok chikamma

Nandini's chikamma or chachi , is Punjabi . nandini's chacha had a love marriage with her. This is how murthys came in contact with malhotras who are distant relatives of chachi. Now the bond of murthys and malhotras is very strong and lovable. Malhotras are like second home to nandini and vice versa for manik.

Nandini had her lunch and went in her room. After few minutes nandini's mom came and informed chachi that neyonika and raaj have gone out on business trip and manik will have his meals here. Although there were many servants in manik's bungalow but neyonika always trusted nandini's mom with manik. Chachi said that manik has not come for lunch , to that nandini's mom replied that he had his lunch at his home but will come for dinner.

Later in the evening, manik came to murthy mansion with books and notebooks. Chachi saw him

Chachi: arey manik puttar tu agya!! Kuch khaega?

Manik: no chachi, av nahi, rishabh kaha hai? Dikh nahi raha?

Chachi: wo apne dosto k sath khelne gya h, wse tu books leke aya h? Padhna h kya? Nandini apne kamre mein hai..jaa..mai snacks bhijwati hu.

Manik: ok chachi

With that manik rushed to her room. He without knocking opened the door. As soon as he entered he saw nandini sleeping in a wierd posture. He stood beside her bed for a while admiring her. His eyes stopped at the view that her tight fitting t-shirt was giving him by shifting a little up exposing her white,satin-soft waist. Admiring that for a while his gaze shifted to her long slender legs which were visible because of her shorts.

Manik talking to himself: she is looking hot!! I know i should not ogle at her like a roadside romeo, buttt i cant help it!! Damn when she is around i always have these nasty thoughts hitting my mind. Only my heart knows y!! But it never gives clear answers to me...(sighs) manik control urself !! this is not the right time to think all this...study, career these are more important.

Just then nandini changes her posture and because of that some hair bangs fall on her face. Manik sits on her side of bed, close to her and slowly tucks the bang behind her ears and in the process traces her face from forehead to ear with his fingers and softly whispers " nandini" she smiles in her sleep and murmurs a slight "hmmm" manik smiles at her cute antics and again says " nandini get up, i have come to study, i need ur help" with that she opens her eyes and he gets up from the bed and takes his books and moves to the study table as if controlling his emotions. Nandini gets up lazily and looks at him "kaun sa subject mein problem h?" manik without looking at her says " physics, quantum theory" she notices that he is not looking towards her "kya hua ? tu thk h na?" manik smiles inwardly thinking how much she understands him and says " ur clothes , they are distracting me" she looks at her cloth and then at manik in disbelief and she blushed a little and said " ok i got it" and she took out a set of cloth and went inside her washroom. Manik thought "what is she upto now" and turned to focus on his book. Nandini came out of washroom after a while and stood beside manik and said in a sheepish tone" ab thk hai?" manik looked at her , she had covered herself from head to toe with sweatshirt and pajamas and a hoodie. He said " hmmm" and turned back and smiled to himself which was not seen by nandini. He thought " she is such a baby!!"

After that they started studying together and ate snacks and drank juice in between studies. After a good 4 hours , they finally decided to take a break. A servant came to tell them that nandini's mom has called them down. Manik got up and gestured her to come with him but she refused . he asked the reason and she pointed towards her dress and said " ase kapro mein jaungi toh amma ko lagega meri tabiyat thk ni h, islye i will change and come , tum jao" manik chuckled on her"tabiyat thk ni h" wala comment and said " nahi u go and change , we will go down together" nandini irritatingly replied " wats ur problem manik, meine bola na jao, main ajaungi" manik was more stubborn than her "why r u arguing , when u know u wont win"and he smirked. She thought to tease him and started removing her pajama saying "FINE". Manik looked at her thinking "what is she doing" but he did not remove his eyes off her and he saw that thankfully she was wearing shorts and then she removed her sweatshirt and this time also she was wearing t-shirt inside. All the while manik's heartbeat was racing thinking " what if she is not wearing anything inside" nandini looked at his dazed expression and chuckled. She went near him and blew air on his face naughtily, he instantly recollected himself but she said " kya hua manik , itni hotness handle ni ho rahi hai?" and she winked. Manik replied but in a not-so-confident tone " nahi the thing is k i was wondering itne kapro mein tumhe garmi ni lag rahi thi??" and she started laughing and said "manik u r impossible , tumhe topic change karne k lye yahi bolne mila? Fool, ac on hai toh garmi q lageg!!" and he smiled sheepishly on being caught, nandini said " ab chalen niche, amma must be waiting" and then they went down together...
