Sam called soon after Nandan was returning to college the following weekend so she wanted a family reunion of sorts
Sahana acted like she was coming down with a cold, she woke 10 mins into II setting her down for a nap
II was at her wits end
The boys were driving her crazy
She leaned on the baby's crib and sighed
R&B came in to return a bunch of toys he had picked up all over 2nd floor
Sahana had two cribs one in her own room for the day and one in the master for the night
Her own room was nothing short of an apartment huge, all in pink
Not II's idea, Sam's
II was afraid to ask how much Sam had spent on this kid
Even Hollywood actors must not have such elaborate rooms for their kids
She picked up Sahana with difficulty
Her arms were sore
"She wont sleep?" R&B asked worried
Sahana ,moaned and chuckled as R&B approached
"Can u ask Sam to push the dinner out to a week night?" she asked yawning
"Manya has plans" he mumbled
OFCOURSE
"Will she stay until Dad's stent operation?" II asked
"I can ask" he said rocking a snoozing Sahana
II opened the windows
It was beginning to rain heavily
One of the many joys of August
She heard screams from the first floor
"Kaise manage karegi teeno ko akele at the movies, send Mavvy with them no?" II spoke cautiously
"Shes taken them to the Science Ctr remember?" he said gently
"That was when they were not even 3, now they are almost 4, pichhle ek hafte mein kya aafat kiya hai dono ne" II spoke somberly
"Whats going on?" he asked gently, scratching her back
"Dad needs to slow down. Docs have told him to. Appa is unable to walk much, he waited so long for
his knee surgery Amma and I suspect he must have caused permanent nerve damage" II warned
"He knows (Dad) he needs to slow down" he explained
"Life just seems like a blur nahi?" she leaned on the sliding French door arms crossed across her chest
He nodded
"We both theoretically look the same, but there are 4 creatures that look exactly like us wandering the hallways of this house" II smiled
He bend down and kissed her
"Beautiful like u" he whispered
"Maska mat maaro. Talk to Manya?" she requested
II was somber and contemplative
"Is something bothering u?" he asked holding her close
"Umm nothing..." she lied
"Maybe she will come back for the surgery" he nodded
She cudnt demand Manya stay on for Ranjan's surgery, Akka had been unable to go to the hospital for Appa's surgery
II sighed
As we grow older we seem to get more intolerant and impatient instead of growing calm and refined
Manya came up
"I booked the 3 O clock show" she said
She was holding Ved
she liked him more?
"Neeche kya toda?" II asked
"Oh! nothing" Manya mumbled
"Did they do something to u?" R&B asked
"Arey nahi"
Ved was just wearing his pajama bottom, his curvy belly exposed
"Can we do a bath?" Manya asked politely
"they take atleast 3 daily" II said cynically
"No FIVEEE" Ved said showing THREE fat fingers
Sahana woke up as if she was shot
She began talking to Ved, as her nose dripped
II wiped it out
"HALF THE DAY U ARE NAKED. Paar u have a cold now" II scolded
Manya walked up
"can I hold her?" "She is too cute" Manya sighed
"Only from a distance" II warned
R&B chuckled handing the baby to Manya
Ved screamed as Manya set him down
R&B picked him up
"Knock it off" R&B warned
Nivi came up
"Amma I cant find my navy blouse with those lil stars on it" she said in a soft whisper
"Thatha brought it back from Sam Athai's house" II reminded
Sahana moaned and rubbed her face all over Manya's shoulder and sneezed multiple times
Ved lay down cutely on R&B's shoulder, and slowly stuck his two middle fingers in his mouth, and moaned
"OMG!! Abhi bhi he sucks on fingers?" Manya laughed
Ved pulled his fingers out and turned towards R&B's neck and lay down
And did it secretly this time
"Oh ya... they all have fetishes" II nodded smugly
R&B chuckled
Sahana began to snooze noisily with her clogged nose
"How do u guys keep it together?" she asked
"thats the second time uve asked" II smiled, tidying the room
"I cant imagine dimpal with one kid he has FOUR NOW?"
Nivi smiled "Daddy sounds like a girl" she whispered
"He has dimples like a girl" Manya said brashly
R&B bend down smiling, so Nivi could feel it
"Are u going to be around for the surgery?" R&B asked directly
AYYYO!!!

Manya turned somber
She bot back words
II coralled Nivi out of the room
They got to Sam's at 7, Manya brought the boys and Mavvy (II had forcefully sent Mavvy with them at 2)
Nandan opened the front door
He was tall like R&B, not that tall but heavy set like Tan
Tan was completely bald now
The same twinkle in his eyes, and a paunch of sorts thats common in men 50+, tho he was quite fit overall
Sam looked gorgeous as ever, more slender, her skin glowing with various "wealth treatments"
She immediately grabbed the baby, Sahana screamed blue murder, turning towards R&B
"rakshasi" she loves u a lot" II smacked the fat butt
Sahana was wearing a A line dress in all white lace with puffed sleeves in red lace
Her socks were in red, and the fat elastic band around her head in red
"OMG!!! I cant believe. How cute u are" Sam sighed hugging a stiff, cranky baby
"Ishita how come she is sooo cute?"
"Must come with being a brat" Ii said cynically
The twins chased Nandan around the lawns
Nivi searched for Lasya, much like how II searched for Sam when R&B brought her here many years ago
Shy, uncomfortable...
Lasya came down chattering on the phone
"Lasyaaa dekho kaun aaya hai, its Uncle R and chithi and Bua"
"CHITHI?" Manya complained accusingly
"Arey Shravu calls her Chithi so my kids do that too"Sam said harmlessly
"Woh to pata hai" Manya mumbled
Ranjan hugged all of them
Tan finished up a call and came out to greet
"Ayiye madam, the singer of the family, the koyal, the nightingale" he teased hugging II
She wore a gorgeous marroon chiffon saree
"I know it was bad" II said sheepishly about her event at Malai Mandir last night
"OMG! How needy!!" Tan pretended to be a woman, fluttering his eyelashes "Babe u are so fishing for compliments"
II laughed heartily
"Sam la beta, give me the fatso" he ordered
Sahana looked at Tan like "NO WAY SHINY HEAD!!"
He grabbed her anyway... crushing her, kissing her all over
"U are going to be a heart breaker Mannn!!" he kissed her noisily
She was a red, slobbery teary, nasal dripping mess
"U managed to get something out of every opening on the face" R&B chuckled with his brand of dry humor
Ranjan hugged Tan
Sahana leaped into Ranjan's arms
"na jee na... royi royi kyon betaji" Ranjan cooed
As Sahana lay on his shoulder and sniffled rubbing snot all over his shoulder
II handed him a wipe
Nandan brought the boys inside, the boys went away to bother Lasya and Nivi
"They are funny" Nandu remarked
"then u must not be seeing the same boys I see"II mumbled hugging Nandu "U look so handsome, I have to find u a pretty Iyer girl" she sighed, rubbing his stubbly cheek
Nandu blushed... II wondered if there was already someone?
Manya grunted
"Tumhari tarah pretty chahiye mujhe. I am shallow and vain" Sam said warmly
"We almost lost one in the PVR bathroom" Manya said attempting to change topics
R&B and II froze
"Ved??" they chorused
