Hey guys !!
*Takes a deep breath* Okay so I am really sorry for such a late update. Firstly the post Flood trauma... And secondly the sudden shutdown of my Author's brain and finally my college reopened and I was too overwhelmed after seeing my bestie!!
Hence after so long... Finally I managed to complete my update ! *Shouts- Eureka!!*
This is the 7th Chapter of 'The Memory' and I hope it stands up to your expectations !! ( Well I seriously hope you guys even remember this Fan Fiction owning to such a huge gap between the previous chapter!)

So your trying to say that Kabir was abducted else where ?" - Ananya asked with her gaze never leaving the drivers seat.
Kurana glanced at Ananya. Her eyes were puffed and she looked very weak. He replied - Hmm.. Yes Ananya ... Who ever did this, planted his car in Ronara forest with the intention of warding away attention.. Why else would the car end up here? The exteriors of the car is intact... So it implies that Kabir didn't crash his car into the woods... And the way the steering wheel was tugged at proves Kabir was attacked from the back seat, for which he fought back... And he was hit on his head too... Mostly to silence him...
Ananya was taking in laboured breaths. This was not easy. It was just not easy for her.
Kurana continued- But... thanks to the camper's, we were able to spot his car...or else...
Ananya completed Kurana - or else... We would have never known about this... And we would have kept thinking that Kabir had disappeared because... He was angry ...
Inspector Kurana nodded his head and said - Yes ...
Ananya took a deep breath and looked at the sky and she closed her eyes. Kurana couldn't make the wildest guess of what she was thinking. But he knew that she was just portraying a strong image that misted her true broken self. And that She was blaming herself for everything.
Ananya asked slowly - Who could have done this Inspector? And why?
Kurana took in a deep breath and said - We will get into the matter Ananya... But judging from Kabir's history and his profession,there is a huge list of people who would possibly go to such an extent...
Ananya looked at the car and she could for a moment see Kabir sitting in the driver's seat smiling at her.
Her eyes widened .
Kurana noticed this and asked - Ananya... What happened?
Ananya was startled by Inspector Karana statement.
She looked at him and then Back at the car but the seat was empty and there wasn't Kabir there. Only a stain of blood on the head-rest was what was left. And it killed her each time she saw it. It was Kabir's...
The Inspector knew that Ananya was going through the worst phase in her life. But he just didn't know what was going on in her mind. He asked again- What happened Ananya?
Ananya looked down and she asked slowly - Inspector... With tonight, it's been three days... Where is Kabir? Why would anyone do such a thing?... Kabir only fought for the truth...
Kurana gave a weak smile and said - Well that's enough to garner rival's... Truth isn't everyone's cup of tea Ananya... But who ever has done this must have a great rivalry against Kabir... It's not a case of Ransom.. that's obvious... If all they wanted was to harm KKNs business... well, they have succeeded, owing to the missing of it's EIC for 3 days ... And if they wanted to scare Kabir... He would have been home by now... So... there is only one option Ananya...
Ananya could feel her heartbeat raise. Her brain knew what the inspector had said made complete sense, But Her heart just didn't want to hear it .. It just wanted to ignore it.
Ananya nodded her head in denial.
Kurana looked at Ananya. He could see her eyes filling up with tears. This was the heart wreaking part of his job. He said slowly - Ananya... Kabir goes missing for 3 days...The blood samples we recovered proves that he was abducted that very night ... And until now we don't have a clue of where he is... I wish I was wrong... But it all points to one thing...
Kurana stopped. He could see that she was trembling.
The inspector took a deep breath and said out - The motive ... It might be Kabir's death...
Ananya looked at Kurana and to be frank, his heart froze for a second. He saw the pain in her eyes. She held her hand and touched the diamond ring in her finger and said out- No... No Inspector Kurana... Your wrong... I know Kabir is alive ...
Kurana gulped in some saliva to ease his dry throat and said - Ananya... It's hard... It's hard for me too... Kabir was my close friend... I know it's really unbearable...Kabir was your fiance...
Ananya snapped out and tears made their way out of her already swollen eyes - He 'is' my fiance Inspector Kurana...
The Inspector didn't know what to do. This case was really difficult for him. The past two days were sleepless nights for him. And he knew tonight too, sleep would be a distant dream. Kabir was the only person he trusted blindly and he was the reason why Kurana could make his dream of serving the nation a reality inspite of all obstacles. But now all this meant nothing to Kurana as the soul owner responsible for this was missing and now possibly dead.
And here he was trying to console Kabir's Stupid Reporter . If Kabir was here, he would have never wanted a tear to leave her eyes. Kurana took a deep breath and said trying to hide his hurt and sadness - Ananya.. Please don't cry... It's getting late... Please go home and take rest... But.. the faster you try to accept things ...
Ananya shook her head and said trying to wipe her cheeks dry. But it was of no use. - There is nothing to accept Inspector Kurana... Kabir is alive... I know he is alive !! ... Please try to find where he is... Please... Each minute is important!!
Kurana nodded his head and said reassuring Ananya - Yes... It's not that we will stop investigating... But from the experience I have ... It's better you try to accept the worst Ananya...
Ananya bit her lower lip and said - Why aren't you understanding Inspector... If Kabir was dead, I would know it... He can't die... Please try to ...
But by the time Ananya could complete her outburst, a member from the forensics team came forward and said looking at the duo - Inspector Kurana... We found something.
Ananya immediately looked at the officer. Kurana asked quickly - What ? What did you find Mam?
The lady extended her right hand that was protected by blue gloves and said - This broken needle...
Inspector Kurana and Ananya asked simultaneously - Needle?
The lady nodded her head and said - Yes ... And it's broken... I think it was a result of the victims struggle ... And the tip had a bit of the substance that was injected into the victim...
Kurana asked completely shocked -But ... Why? ... What's that substance Mam?
The lady said looking at the needle in her hand - From the primary analysis that we did, it's a drug... An illegal drug...
Ananyas eyes widened and she looked at Inspector Kurana and asked slowly - So... Kabir was drugged?
After so much effort, he saw the caller's name and seeing it, his eyes widened.
It Said - "KKN"
And then the door nob turned.
He immediately placed the phone on the table and closed his eyes shut.
He could hear foot steps. But he wasn't sure. Was his mind playing tricks with him?
" Kabir ... My mobile disturbed you isn't it?..." - It was Shreya . He knew her voice way too perfectly.
He felt her hold on his hand and then she said again- Kabir... Are you awake ?
Kabir didn't respond. He kept his eyes shut the whole while. Her hold on his hand tightened.
Then suddenly she let go of him and he heard her foot steps. And some soft sounds.
After a second, he felt her hold on his hand again. She said - Kabir... I love you...
And then he felt as if something went through his forearm. It pained a bit.
He heard her voice again- Please get well soon Kabir... I want youu...
And he couldn't hear her anymore. His ears felt like it went on mute mode. He could see colours being played on his mind. And then he heard a faint voice...
" Kabir... Plea... Please... Just listen to me.. "
But he just couldn't recognize who's voice it was...
" I just hope He stays asleep until I reach home " - Shreya murmured as she sat in her seat in her office cabin and took a deep breath.
She pushed her locks to a side and and took out her mobile and looked at it. She thought out loudly - How did I leave my Mobile in Kabir's Room yesterday? What if he had seen it? ... He couldn't have ... The drugs are too strong for him , he can never think straight...
She placed the mobile on the table and took a deep breath and said out - Shreya be calm.. Everything will happen according to plan... Few more doses and Kabir's body will give up and so will Kabir... And then He will be yours forever ... I will go to any extent to have you Kabir ... Even if it means your Bed-Ridden for life... After a few years, you will start accepting my love... You have no means of escape... And I am ready to wait !!
" I never knew you were that kind of a person Shreya 'Mam' "
Shreya looked up with widened eyes.
Manav walked into her cabin sporting his grin. And he sat in the chair and raised his eyebrow.
Shreya was just sitting there staring at him with her wide eyes.
Manav came forward and asked slowly - Shreya 'Mam' why are you looking at me as if I just asked your hand in marriage ?
Shreya snapped out of her shock and said taking a deep breath - Manav...
Manav sat back and said - Yes ... It's Manav Guptha !! What's the matter with you? Looks like I hit the right chord today!!
Shreya raised an eyebrow and asked - When did you come Manav ?
Manav shuddered his shoulder and said - Who knows ? I don't keep tab of the time Mam!!
Shreya rolled her eyes and wiped the sweat that popped up on her forehead.
Manav smiled and said - You know... It's when your caught doing something wrong, that a person reacts the way you just reacted...
Shreya gave a scowl. ' Now how am I supposed to deal with this pest?' Was the thought going on in her mind.
Manav took the paper weight in his hand and said - But really... I never though that you were such a person ... Today you really surprised me !!
'Crap...' -Shreya thought.
Manav looked at Shreya and grinned. He said - I never thought you were a person who waited for anything...
Shreya gave an invisible sigh of relief. The pest didn't hear anything... Well not anything important!!
Manav's grin sloped to the left and he said - Why do I feel that I should have walked in a few minutes back... I missed to hear your secret didn't I?
Shreya came forward and said - In your dreams Manav... !! Anyways ... Why do you keep forgetting that I ain't Malvika !!! I hate gossipers !! You can leave 'Now'!!
Manav smiled and said - Even If it's a gossip about your EX Husband?
Shreya's Gaze flickered for a second. But that was enough for Manav to notice it. His smile widened and he said out - Old is Gold isn't it ? And in your case Kabir just ain't leaving your heart !!
Shreya sat back and said trying her best to control her raising anger- You know what Mr.Guptha!! Your mouth is going to drag you to the drains of Indian roads !! Please leave !!
Manav crossed his legs and said shifting his weight to one side- I don't know about that ... But there is one thing that I heard today morning and it's true... Your EX Husband...The Kabir Sharma !! Who ran away that night after having an argument with his current fiance is said to be abducted !! I really don't know what makes him so special to go to an extent of kidnapping him? Well who ever did it .. Has the worst taste !!
" Abducted? ... But how the hell did they find that?" - Shreya's inner voice screamed. But she said - What?
Manav widened his eyes and said - Yes.. Unfortunately for you.. And fortunately for me the Editor in chief of KKN has been abducted !!
Shreya fidgeted her fingers and said - What Nonsense!! Don't bluff Manav...
Manav smiled and said - His Car was found abandoned in a forest!! And from what I heard, the police has confirmed it to be an act of abduction... I am not lying Shreya 'Mam'... Believe me .. I am feeling really bad for you and for his current Fiance... Miss.Ananya Kashyap!!
Sweat popped up from her forehead. 'Those fools ... I had told them to destroy the car!!' - Shreya thought.
She said out - What?... Who told you this?
Manav replied looking at the paper weight in his hands - Walls have ears Shreya Mam!!
Shreya took a deep breath and said - So... It's not that Kabir had gone into hiding... What else have they found?
Manav looked at Shreya and kept quite for a moment . As If observing her. And then he said - They are yet to investigate it !! But some are saying that who ever did it would have completed Kabir's Funeral Rituals by now.. !!
Shreya raised an eyebrow.
" So they think that Kabir is Dead?" - She thought.
Shreya placed her hand on her forehead and said - And how did they confirm that? ...
Manav smiled. He said - Making Assumptions doesn't require investments!!
Shreya looked at him. She said - I really am fed up with all this drama !!! Manav please leave me alone !! Just go...
Manav grinned. He got up and said - Of course 'Mam' !! ... I can understand the 'Mental breakdown' your going through!!
Shreya said - Please close the door when you get out !
Manav nodded his head and grinned further.
He turned around and went towards the door and held the handle.
Manav paused and then turned and said looking at Shreya- Why Do I feel that your the one behind this?
Shreya froze for a second. But she immediately looked at him and said- Yes and my dead granddad was the one who plotted it !!
Manav laughed.
Shreya snapped - Are you leaving now ?? Or shall I chuck you out?
Manav said as he turned to go- Of Course Mam... I can't afford to be abducted !!
Khalid placed his elbows on the table and said - You know Ananya, You have always managed to remain in my good books.. But now, things have gone beyond reach... Darling, I know what happens in your personal life stays in your personal life but KKN can't possibly pay for your blunders and outbursts !!
He looked at Ananya. Ananya had a blank expression on her face as if she wasn't even paying the slightest attention to Khalid.
Khalid rolled his eyes and said - From Day one, I knew Kabir was not an 'Ordinary guy' !! Well.. Now he proved that he would go to any extent to make his anger felt ! It's 3 days Ananya... and Kabir hasn't even bothered to answer my calls...
Khalid waved his hands and continued - That would be possible if he switches ON his phone!! To be frank Ananya, Everyone.. Every single person in KKN could decode what happened that night... But I don't want to get caught in the world of assumptions... And nor do I want to comment on it ...
Khalind sat back and said to Ananya who looked completely lost- Did you leak that news? I don't want to know... Because I already know the Answer!! ... Kabir's reaction being the Editor is acceptable.. But anger... that too for 3 days?? That's A big No !!! What happened to the concerned Editor now? Why is he turning a blind eye at sinking KKN?
Khalid paused for a second. He creased his temple with his pointing finger and took a deep breath.
He observed Ananya for a moment and said - Young lady ... If you hadn't given KKN all those breaking news and if you weren't the fiancee of our So called Editor in Chief.. I would have sacked you right here and right now!!... Are you even giving the slightest attention to my words Ananya?... KKN might be a joke for you... but it's my brain child .. It's my tonic of life !! Don't you dare try to ruin it !!
Ananya took in a deep breath and said - Khalind sir ... I too know it's not a joke...
Khalid snapped - Oh Come on Ananya... It's 3 days and the Editor of KKN has ran off to cool the anger he has on his fiancee... It's 4 days and the 9pm bulletin is going on air without Kabir !! If this isn't a joke then, What is? I am not sitting in this chair to look at this Nonsense!! 'Where is Kabir ?' The question is simple as that!!
Ananya lowered her gaze. She fisted her hands and said slowly - I don't know Khalid Sir...
Khalid closed his eyes shut to calm his anger. This was the same Answer Ananya gave for the past 3days.
Ananya continued slowly - All I know now is... That where ever Kabir is ... It's not with his own will that he is there...
Khalid opened his eyes and gave Ananya a questioning glance.
Ananya completed - He has been abducted Khalid Sir ...
' What ? ' - Khalid almost shouted.
'The number your trying to reach is switched off. Please try again later'
Ananya looked at her phone.
Roni placed his hand on her shoulder and said - Ananya...What are you doing...? Your looking so weak... Try to take some rest... Inspector Kurana told he would take care of it, Isn't it?
Ananya looked up at Roni from her chair. She asked - Why is Ragina's mobile switched off?
Roni took a chair and sat next to Ananya and held her hands.
Roni said - Ananya... It might be because of her mother's operation... Why don't you try visiting her in the hospital?
Ananya looked at Roni and said - That's the problem Roni... I don't know where her mother is admitted... I never asked her that... And when I called up NewsXS channel, they are just forwarding my calls but it's never being answered...
Roni said - Ananya... I too don't understand it... But for now it's Kabir's Whereabouts that's of more importance ...
Ananya looked at Kabir's Cabin. It had everything except Kabir.
"Kabir... I... It's..."
" JUST SHUT YOUR MOUTH !!!!! JUST SHUT YOUR BLOODY MOUTH !!!"
"Kabir..."
" DON'T!! Just don't utter my name from your mouth!! You... You... You betrayed me... You broke my trust... You... You just don't deserve anything... ANYTHING!!! "
" Kabir... Plea... Please... Just listen to me.. "
" I ...SAID... JUST... SHUT ...YOUR... BLOODY... MOUTH"
" Kabir I know your angry on me... But please... Let me explain it to you ... It's all a mistake"
" Yes... It's all a big DAMN MISTAKE !!! You know what Ananya...? You proved today that your can't be trusted... I belived in you Ananya... And what did you do?? Eh??... You betrayed me..."
" Kabir ... Please ... It's not what your thinking ..."
" Yes Ananya... It's Not what I thought!! ... You know what ? Today you proved the world that Kabir Sharma was a loser and is a loser!! I have lost ... Both professionally and personally!! "
" Kabir why are you saying that... Please Kabir..."
" Don't touch me !! Just stay away from me Ananya!!..."
"Kabir..."
" I thought you were different Ananya... I thought you were not like her..."
" Kabir... Please..."
"You showed me today that your not different from Shreya !! "
" Ananya... " - Roni said tightening his hold.
Ananya wiped away her tears.
She said slowly - Roni you know what was the last thing Kabir told me before walking out ?
Roni just looked at his best friend who was breaking down in front of him.
Ananya gave a weak smile and said - 'You showed me today that your not different from Shreya' ...that was what Kabir said to me... It's ... It's Not true Roni... I love Kabir...I am not like Shreya...
And tears just left her eyes . Roni hugged his friend and creased her hair. His throat had lost it's life the moment he saw her cry.
He took in a deep breath and said - Ananya... Kabir wouldn't have meant that... He loves you ... And he knows you love him more...
But those words didn't have any effect on Ananya's tears.
Roni looked around. The other employees were staring at the duo. Ananya's sudden breakdowns had become a constant issue in the past three days. But still it didn't stop the 'watchers' from doing their watching.
Ananya said inbetween her sobs - If only I could explain myself to him...
Roni creased her hair. He said slowly - Ananya.. Don't cry ...
Ananya looked up at Roni and asked - Does Kabir really think that I would do such a thing?... How would I possibly leak Kabir's breaking news to Regina?... How could he even think that I would betray him?
Roni didn't know what to say. He himself for a moment doubted that it was his bestfriend who had leaked the news to her college buddy. But he too was wrong like the others.
Ananya looked at Kabir's Cabin and said wiping her tears - Yes, it's true ... At the start I really wanted to share the news to Ragina... But only If I could solve it Before Kabir... And even if I did .. I had made up my mind that I will share the news only after telling Kabir... !! But by the end of the day Kabir was the one who solved it before me... I was really shocked...
She gave a weak smile and said - Well what less could I expect from Kabir Shrama?... But by then, for my luck Tinu had given me a new lead about how The Delhi Goverment hospital was conducting illegal clinical trials on their patients ... And That was the news I shared with Regina... Not the Javas College of sciences Murder case...I could never betray Kabir...
Roni frowned. He knew that the very thought that Kabir doubted her was killing Ananya...
Ananya looked at Roni and said - That day when I saw Regina disclosing the case before Kabir... I was completely shocked ... I don't know how did she manage to get the lead... But I knew Kabir would doubt me... And like I feared, he did...He doubted me... I am telling the truth Roni... I never leaked Kabir's breaking news... I never would too...
Roni nodded his head and said - I know Ananya...
Ananya wiped the new batch of tears and asked - Then why didn't Kabir trust me?... Why did he doubt me ?... Why didn't he listen to me...? If only he had listened...
Roni placed his hand on Ananya's shoulder. He said - Ananya...
Ananya held Roni's hand and continued - Till now I thought That Kabir was so angry on me that he doesn't want to see my face... And that's the reason why he just took off and completely disconnected himself from all means of communication... But now, I come to know that he was abducted that very day... Oh God !!! Is he even... alive??
Roni placed his other hand on her hand and said - Ananya... Kabir is too strong ... Nothing will happen to him...
Ananya said looking up - If only all this had not happened... If only I had told about what lead I was sharing with Regina ... He wouldn't have got angry and we wouldn't have had the argument, He wouldn't have left that night.. And he wouldn't have been abducted...
Roni said slowly- Ananya... It's not like that...
Ananya was breathing heavily. She asked touching her diamond ring and said - What If Kabir doesn't return safely Roni...? What if I can never explain my innocence to Kabir... ?
And Ananya cried further.
Roni's eyes were red. He just couldn't handle his bestie breaking down like this. He said - Ananya... Please don't cry...
Ananya said slowly placing her head on Roni's chest - 'You showed me today that your not different from Shreya' - That was the last thing Kabir told to me... That was the last thing my Kabir told to me...
Authors' Note - So there ends the 7th Chapter ... What is your view on Ananya now ? *Grins*
