Deepika Padukone doubles fee after Vin deal

Deepika Padukone has arrived " in Hollywood. The actress has bagged a plum role with actor Vin Diesel in XXX: Return of the Xander Cage. Deepika had on Friday, posted a picture of hers with the actor facing his back to the camera. On Monday, Vin himself posted a picture of his with Deepika on Instagram. Her manager posted the same photo on his Facebook page and wrote a congratulatory message saying, "Am so so proud of this girl. What an announcement. What a journey it has been!" (sic)

Wasting no time on her part to cash in on the big development, Deepika has instructed her team to double her fees for brand endorsements. Until a couple of months ago, Deepika used to charge close to Rs 5.5 cr for a brand endorsement. The same deal could now fetch her twice the amount.

Deepika had grabbed headlines a while ago too, when she was approached to star in Fast And Furious 7, but turned down the offer to accommodate dates for Happy New Year. A source said, "The night after the success party of Tamasha, Deepika flew to the US for a meeting with Vin Diesel."

The actress has returned to Mumbai after signing the deal and will head back to the US on December 20 to complete the formalities. About the hike in fees, the source adds, "Well that's the order and no one can disobey it. Undeniably her brand value has gone up after signing an international film. Brands always need names that are not only inspiring but also carry a tag of being self-made'."

Will the brands give in to the hike though? Only time will tell.

Lol. And what will happen if the film with Vin tanks? I think Deepika should take it slow. XXX is not a huge franchise and honestly I would have preferred it if she had chosen something with more substance as her first Hollywood project.

She has doubled the charge for brand endorsements, not for movies. And in that world one must make hay while the Sun shines. It's not BW that the industry MCPs will boycott her coz she's getting paid as much as those MCPs.

Good decision, IMO.

I know what the doubling of fees is for.

My opinion differs, but to each his own.
