It's known that choreographer Shiamak Davar is uncomfortable with Hindi language, but as a judge on Sony TV's Jhalak Dikhhla Ja he is seen making quite an effort to speak the language. Davar surprised everyone in the recent weeks by speaking Hindi as the judge on the show. We found out that he comes well-prepared to give his one-liner after every contestant's performances. Some of his one-liners are 'Chamka paseena banke Nageena', 'Bhuchaal aa gaya', 'Laajawab' and 'Aaj Kya Katal ka irada hai' among others.

When we spoke to Shiamak to find out how he prepares for those one-liners. He said, "I am very comfortable with English and even Gujarati but Hindi gives me sleepless nights. The entire credit should go to my friends, especially two of my close friends Madhuri Dhoot and Sandeep, who have helped me get these one-liners right. Even some of my students come up with some lines and tell me to use it in the show. My entire family laughs at my effort and some people find it very cute.

My mother is overjoyed and loves every moment of it. When the channel told me that I would have to speak in Hindi, I told them that I would make a complete fool of myself and that I am more comfortable with English. Now, after just a few episodes even the contestants request me to give them my Hindi one-liner. I guess we all are having fun with it."

Davar spends about half-an-hour everyday to polish his Hindi diction. He added, "I asked my friends and family to give me three kinds of Hindi lines - for the good performances, okay ones and the not-so- good ones. I still find saying a lot of technical terms in Hindi very difficult as I can't translate the technical faults of the performers do."

He further said, "I meet my friends and bounce off the ideas as the plan is to appeal to the mass audience. My comments should reach everyone watching the show as they should know what I am trying to say about the performance. But I am extremely happy about the talent that I witness in this show. It is truly amazing."
