Successful Stars Who Have Never Won Best Actor/Actress Awards!
November 30, 2015 |
Ironical, but true! Some very famous and beloved Bollywood stars, who have spent a long time in the industry and have delivered massive hits, have never managed to win Awards till date. Even though their performances in certain movies were appreciated both by audience and critics, and they have been nominated at several occasions, these superstars have failed to get the Best Actor/Actress trophies so far in their career.
Dharamendra
The 'Veeru' of Sholay, the beloved actor Dharmendra, has entertained the masses for a very long time and given us several hit films. But the macho man of B-town but could not manage to win the trophy even once in his career spanning over 50 years! It was only years later when he finally received the Lifetime achievement award at the Filmfare Awards ceremony in the year 1997. Dharmendra's humble speech was heart-touching. Dharmendra said "I've longed for this Filmfare trophy for 37 years... but it always evaded me. Every year, I'd stitch a new suit and buy a matching tie in the hope that I'd be called to receive a trophy... then after a few years I gave up. I decided that I would attend the function wearing a T-shirt and shorts... ya kachcha pahen ke chala jaaonga (or I would just wear underwear). By giving me this award, Filmfare has more than made up for all the trophies I missed out on. In this one trophy I can see 15 awards..."
Akshay Kumar
The Khiladi Kumar is undoubtedly a versatile actor. From comedy to action, this superstar is a darling of masses. But irony is, he hasn't ever been named the Best Actor of the year! Akshay has been in the industry for over 20 years, is still waiting to get hold of the trophy.
Salman Khan
The Dabbang' Khan debuted with Maine Pyaar Kiya' in the year 1989 and since then has done a wide variety of films from action to romance, drama to comedy. The actor is touted to have a midas touch, as all his movies at box-office have been money-spinners. Salman has been nominated for the Filmfare Award for Best Actor 7 times but never has he won it. Maybe Bajrangi Bhaijaan' finally breaks the jinx this year!
Govinda
A career filled with laugh-till-you-drop' comedies, Govinda has only received 12 nominations, post working in more than 160 films since his debut in 1986.
John Abraham
He started his career as a supermodel, and his oh-so-delicious body display in Raaz gave him a major break in B-town in 2003. Be it his portrayal of a biker thief in Dhoom or an army man in Madras Caf, John has always wowed the audiences, but the awards still eluded him.
Sonam Kapoor
The quintessential fashionista of tinsel town, Sonam Kapoor has a couple of successful films to her credit. She made an impressive debut with Saawariya directed by ace filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali, but till date couldn't score the trophy for herself. Maybe, sooner...
Katrina Kaif
She is one of the popular actors of our times but awards have kept themselves far away from Katrina Kaif. Although Katrina has done it all, from learning to speak in Hindi to training herself in a variety of dance forms, she is still nowhere close to receive one. Her performances in films like Namaste London and Jab Tak Hai Jaan has proved the actress can act well, but, jury doesn't think so.
Sonakshi Sinha
From a dream debut opposite Salman Khan in Dabbang, Sonakshi with her clean image and Indian roles has won many hearts, but not any awards. She has showed her caliber as a performer in films like Lootera, but is yet to receive major nominations and awards.
