Part 1:

The Mallik household was filled with noise and celebrations. Everyone was running around, celebrating the wedding of Rohan Gupta and Sanjana Mallik. It was a grand affair, as The Gupta's and The Mallik's were top Industrialists of the country. Many high profile people were present there. Everyone were enjoying but there were two people who were least interested in the ongoing wedding. Riddhima was seated in one of the corner dressed in a beautiful pink ghagra choli with a smile plastered on her face. On the other side was a young man on phone talking to a business client. Everything was fine, until someone came rushing to Shashank. Listening to this Shashank ran inside the room, to see worried faces of Balvinder and Ananya Mallik.

"Kya Hua, Mr.Mallik" a worried Shashank aked, Billy. "Wo Shashank, wo..." , seeing their scared and worried faces "Speak up Billy" an irritated Shashank said. "I'm sorry Mr. Gupta. This wedding cannot proceed" Billy finally spoke up. "What? ye kaisa ghatiya mazak hai" a furious Shashank asked. This couldn't be possible. Whole country knew about the ongoing wedding, and there were media persons present, and all high society people were present. They would become a laughing stock in front of everyone. "Kya matlab hai aapka" Shashank asked once again, a little peacefully now. "Wo Sanjana gaayab hai" Ananya said. "Kya matlab gaayab. Ye kya paagalpan hai" Shashank asked now totally losing his cool. "She left. She left a note saying she didn't want to get married and loved someone else" a shamefaced Billy answered. "Kya matlab she left. What will we say to the people. And why did you even bring the proposal when your daughter loved someone else" Shashank asked now totally out of his mind. "She wanted to marry a useless middle class. We couldn't allow that. We would become a laughing stock." An angry and a worried Billy spoke. "And now thanks to you and your daughter now WE are going to become a laughingstock" Shashank sarcastically replied. "But I am not going to let this happen. What am I going to say to the media, the news will be all over and... And I will be RUINED. All because of YOU and YOUR DAUGHTER" Shashank blamed on. "Well we too are going to be ruined Mr.Gupta" Billy answered. "Well it's your daughter's fault. Not mine" Shashank spat back.

"Tum log jhagadna band karo. And stop blaming each other please. We should try solving the problem" Ananya finally spoke. They all sat silently. After a few minutes, Billy spoke up "This wedding should go on. Or else it's going to affect our reputation and companies". "Oh yeah. I will get my son married to your son. How does it sound" a frustrated Shashank answered. "No, But Your daughter can marry my son" Balvinder spoke up. Shashank looked at him. "this is the only way shashank. Plus the market is down and we can't risk our companies. If the media gets a word about this fiasco, we are all going down. This is our last chance. We are going to tell the media that a mistake has happened and the actual marriage is of Armaan and Riddhima, not Sanjana and Rohan". Shashank nodded.

After a few minutes, a girl entered the room. "Haan Papa. Aapne mujhe bulaya" she asked Shashank. "Haan Riddhima. YOU ARE GETTING MARRIED" He answered. "To Armaan Mallik" Shashank answered once again. "WHAT" a booming voice came from the entrance of the room. "Armaan" a worried Billy answered. "Dad, what's going on" a not so happy armaan answered. Billy explained him everything, thinking he would understand. "Well it's not my fault that your daughter ran away. Why would I get married to somebody, to save your so called respect dad" Armaan answered. "Because Son You don't want to lose your tender to Siddhant Modi, now Do you? I Don't think you will be getting your tender if the media gets to know a word about this" Billy answered. He knew he would get Armaan to do any thing he wants, if it involved Siddhanth Modi, Armaan's arch rival. "But what's it got to do with this dad" an irritated Armaan asked once again. "No one would want to work with a company which is the current laughingstock son. And I guess we are going to be one if you didn't marry Riddhima". Armaan sighed. No way was he going to let that Modi win, even if he had to marry some girl for it. After walking around for some time "Fine. I will" he answered, frustrated. In all this fiasco, Riddhima remained silent. She looked at her father, hoping he would interfere. I mean come on no father would just get his daughter married away to a complete stranger now, Would he?. But he never behaved like a father, her heart screamed. Finally she heard, what she dreaded the most, "Good, now hurry up, YOU GUYS ARE GETTING MARRIED" A relieved shashank announced.

Riddhima looked at him, with hurt eyes, but he didn't spare her a glance. "But papa..." Riddhima, finally mustered up the courage. "Yes Riddhima" Shashank asked. "How can I, I mean meri job, mai ye shadi kaise..." "YOU are getting married Riddhima. I think you should go and get ready, while I go and make the announcement. " saying so he walked off, along with Billy and Ananya, leaving Armaan and Riddhima alone." Riddhima looked at his retreating back, and a tear drop trickled down her cheek, which she quickly wiped off. Then she looked at Armaan, who just walked off giving her a glance.

Riddhima sat infront of a mirror dressed in her wedding dress. She looked absolutely gorgeous, no doubt but there was a spark missing which no one could notice as she was a master in hiding her tears, and pain, which she had done from the day she understood what pain was. Suddenly a girl barged in the room shouting " Are you out of your mind. you are getting married to a man, whom you don't even know". Riddhima just looked at her, and got back to getting ready. "Ridzy. Please" she said. "Kya hua Muskaan" Riddhima asked. "KYA HUA. You are asking me KYA HUA. Do you even know, YOU ARE GETTING MARRIED" she said. "I know Muskaan" Riddhima replied. Bending down on her knees Muskaan sat infront of her. "Ridzi. Why are you doing this to yourself?. You don't want to get married. I can see it. Then why? I mean you don't even knw who this guy is. I mean, he might be one of those bas***ds who..." she ratteled on. "Muskaan" Riddhima cut her in between. "I have to do this" "but..." before she could continue, Riddhima was called downstairs. Riddhima hugged her, and got up to go.

Muskaan sighed. "God bless you Ridzi" saying so she got up wiping her own tears. The pandit started the phere's, Riddhima walked around the fire, with few tears in her eyes. She closed her eyes, when Armaan filled her maang with sindoor, and tied mangalsutra around her neck. Now she was Riddhima Armaan Mallik, for good or bad, she didn't know.

After taking the elders blessings Armaan and Riddhima , stood up. "Riddhima, Your stuff will be just arriving. I've sent Mary to get your things for you." Riddhima looked at him a little taken aback. Was it too much to even ask for a proper fatherly hug and a goodbye. But as usual she just hid her feelings and nodded.

She sat on the huge bed, in a room. It didn't look even a bit like a newly wed, couple's room. It looked like a usual room. She rested her head on the bed post. She was too tired to even think about today's current happenings. Her eyes were drooping. She opened her eyes suddenly, when she heard the click of a door knob. She saw her husband, enter the room. All the sleep seemed to vanish, and it was replaced by nervousness and she started to get scared now. He came and stood infront of the bed. She looked down, waiting for him to speak. A few minutes passed but he didn't speak anything. Finally she looked up to see him standing near his wardrobe and taking his clothes out. Without speaking a word he went to the washroom, and emerged out wearing tracks and a vest. She kept on looking at him thinking he would speak.

After a few minutes, he came and stood again in front of her. "Look" he said. "I don't know who you are, and neither do you. I had no idea, that I would end up with a wife, neither am I prepared for it. I don't think you are too. So lets just keep this marriage stuff aside. I don't have time for such stuff. And DON'T EXPECT ANYTHING FROM ME." Saying so he settled on the bed. "We have an early flight to catch tomorrow. You would want to get some sleep. We are leaving at 5 in the morning" saying so, he dozed off.

Riddhima walked into the washroom, taking her night clothes. She looked at herself in the mirror, and sighed. she wasn't going to cry like a weakling, she thought. She was just stupid, thinking her father would even look at her and think about her welfare. She just clutched to a chain, with a dollar S. "I miss you, mum" she whispered. She closed her red, swollen eyes. She didn't know where her life was taking her, but she was not going to expect anything good. That was the only lesson she had learnt. "Never expect, because its you who is always going to get hurt, and when it hurts you wouldn't be able to bear it". Quickly changing into her night clothes, she came out of the washroom to see Armaan on the centre of the bed. She scanned the room, and settled on a couch. As her head rested on the pillow, a tear drop, rolled out. The dams finally broke, but she controlled as tears, made there way, down her cheeks into the pillow. "Mum It hurts. A lot" she whispered and was finally dead to the world as the words 'DON'T EXPECT ANYTHING FROM ME' ran in her mind again and again. After all she was a human, wasn't she......

Part 2

Riddhima heard the airhostess make an announcement about some safety measures. She closed her eyes. Bangalore, that's where she was headed to. She had figured it out, when she heard the flight announcement. She then looked at Armaan, who was sitting in front of her luxuriously, and working on his laptop. She then saw around the first class compartment. Finding nothing of intrest, she took that day's newspaper, and saw the headlines "The King of the corporate world, Armaan Mallik gets hooked down with a doctor Riddhima Gupta, daughter of Famous businessman, Shashank Gupta". She then looked at the picture. She saw armaan dressed in a cream coloured sherwani, looking as handsome as ever. His face was hard and cold. She then saw herself standing beside him. Her face was covered, due to her dupatta. She sighed and read the article. She read the last line. 'Let's wait to get a picture of Mrs.Mallik, the new arm candy in town'.

Keeping the newspaper down, she looked around to find herself, anything interesting to read. She saw a magazine and took it. As she shuffled across the pages, she came across one page which particularly interested her. 'Today's Corporate World Hotshot', the page's title. She saw Armaan's picture. He was dressed in a White casual shirt, paired up with a black coat, and a slim-fit, black denim's. she had to admit he looked like a Greek God, even while giving his cold expression. Seriously does he ever smile. He would make it into the Guinees World Records for his cold expressions. Guess his teacher's forgot to teach him to smile, she thought giggling to herself. Her giggling stopped, when she saw Armaan looking at her, with his eyebrows raised. "Here comes his trademark expressions" she thought. Is it any logo of Mallik Empire, coz I think it is. She stopped herself from giggling, and continued with her magazine. She then saw the picture of another person, 'Siddhanth Modi'. 'So he is the idiot, because of whom, this akdoo married me. Oh dude you are so dead when you come in front of me' she thought, huffing and puffing. Then she read the last critic line 'The Rude, Arrogant Mallik vs The Lover boy Modi'. If she was asked to vote, she would defenetly give 10/10 for Armaan. This Modi guy was no where close to Armaan Mallik.

Riddhima closed the magazine, it gave her a headache. She wasn't one of those girls, who followed these magazines. How she wished she had her favourite, Sherlock Holmes right now, so she could flip away the time. Mary had forgotten, to put her novel collection in the bag. She wondered what would happen to them now, as she wasn't there. Thrown out I guess, her brain answered. Maybe father would keep it, in your remembrance, her heart silently wished. Yeah, the same father who never even smiled at you, the brain brought out the harsh realities. She shook her head in an attempt to get away from those thoughts, and control her tears. Being idle isn't going to do me any good. Thinking she took a random book and started going through it, not noticing what she was reading. Her brain didn't register one word of it, but yet she continued, trying hard to not let those tears fall. Crying in front of others was one thing she never did, it only brought sympathies with it and nothing else. As she attempted to get rid of those tears, she looked up to find Armaan staring at the cover of the books, with expressions she couldn't fathom. To clear her doubts, she herself looked at the cover. 'Oops' it's bad, really bad she thought. She closed her eyes as she realized what she was reading, 'How To Get Your Husband In Bed'. This seriously is the most embarrassing thing in the whole wide world. She closed the book and rested her head, on the head rest.

Riddhima opened her eyes, trying to adjust to the light. She had dozed off some time before. She looked at her cell, and found there were few minutes left before their plane landed. She looked around and saw no one was there. Maybe he went to the washroom, she thought. She then heard her stomach growl. She really needed to get something in her stomach. She hadn't eaten since yesterday night. She then saw armaan emerging out of the washroom.
She looked around, trying to adjust to her surroundings. It was the first time that she had come to Bangalore. She almost lived her life in Mumbai. To be frank, she was a bit scared. She saw armaan walking a bit front to her. She increased her speed, trying to cope up with him
She looked out of the window, as the car moved to some place, which was supposedly going to be her home. The atmosphere was perfect. Neither too hot nor too cold. The breeze played with her hair. Finally after 15 minutes, they reached a row of villas's. The car stopped in front of a beautiful Villa.

She sat on the bed, thinking about the day's events. Stella the house help, had guided her to Armaan's room on his orders. Just when she entered the room, she saw Armaan pulling out his clothes from the wardrobe and disappearing in the washroom. She scanned the room. It was simplicity at its best. She saw that her things were already brought and kept In the room. Not knowing what to do, she stood at the entrance of the room. After ten minutes, Armaan emerged out dressed in a black suit, paired up with a white shirt with top few buttons opened. It was a formal yet casual look. "Make yourself at home" saying, he went out of the room. "Atleast he said something" she thought. She went into the washroom to freshen up and came down, to find the house empty. She saw stella emerge out of, what she guessed to be a kitchen. "hungry?" stella asked her. Her stomach growled in reply. Riddhima smiled sheepishly. Smiling at her, stella asked her to follow her. Riddhima followed stella to enter a small adjoining room, the dining room. "why don't you sit here, while I bring you your breakfast dear". Riddhima just nodded, not knowing what to do, being the reserved person she was.

She saw stella bring in, a bowl of milk and cornflakes. "Hope you don't mind. its just that I haven't prepared anything. Actually breakfast isn't prepared in this home. No one has it". Confused, riddhima started eating her cornflakes. After having done her breakfast, she took the bowl into the kitchen. "Let me do it" saying so Stella took the bowl, and placed it into the dishwasher. She turned back to see Ridhima glancing around. "Let me give you a tour of the house" saying she asked Riddhima to follow her.
They walked, watching the house l
uxuriously. "umm''.wo'' Armaan. Where did he go? I mean'" Riddhima asked a little awkwardly. "Sir has left for his office" she replied. "Breakfast?" Riddhima questioned once again. "Sir normally doesn't have his breakfast. He just has a black coffee. But he didn't have today. He was in a hurry" she answered politely. Riddhima just gave a small smile, and followed her. Sitting on the couch, she didn't understand what to do. Stella had gone out to bring some spplies, and she was alone. She was used to being alone but this loneliness somewhat scared her. This wasn't her home, and she didn't know what to do. She entered her bedroom, and started arranging her clothes in the wardrobe, beside Armaan's. 'Will he scream for touching his things' she thought. 'Of corse not. He was the one who asked to get comfortable' . As she was arranging her clothes, she heard the door bell ring.

She opened the door to see a girl about her age standing at the door. She looked worn out and teary. Riddhima looked at her confused. "Are you fine?" Riddhima asked, taking her inside. She brought a glass of water for her. Drinking the water, the girl looked at Riddhima. "I am Sanjana, Armaan's sister" she answered. Riddhima smiled at her knowing who she was and sat down at the adjacent couch. "I am sorry'" she said after some time. Riddhima looked at her a little taken aback. " Its because of me that you got married and all. I know you must really hate me for doing this to you, and''." . "After doing all this, after getting me married to your arrogant brother who doesn't even know how to smile, who hasn't even looked at me, who treats me as if I don't even exist, you come at my doorstep to ask a bloody sorry. Woah, amazing woman" she thought to voice it out, but instead "its okay" she answered giving her a fake smile. "No its not. I know I've messed up real bad, and you must probably want to hit me, but trust me I had no idea it would turn out like this." She tried to justify. "No its really Ok. I'm fine. Its just that'''' umm' nothing, forget it. Anyways where is your '. Boyfriend" riddhima asked trying to divert the topic. Sanjana looked down, playing with her fingers. Riddhima went closer to her, "Is everything fine". Sanjana hugged her tight, crying furiously. Riddhima looked shocked, she caressed her back, "ssh. Its ok. Everything's gonna be fine". After sometime, sanjana stopped crying "I'm sorry. I didn't mean to just'''". "Its Ok. It happens"

They sat there silently. "He left. I don't know How. I mean, I searched him everywhere. I called his friends, family and no one would pick up. Bhai was right. I was foolish, not to listen to him. There is no thing called love, its just in fairytales." She said as silent tears fell from her eyes. Riddhima hugged her. "its ok. Everything's going to be fine. "Bhabhi. Can I call you '.." to which riddhima nodded. "Do you hate me Bhabhi" sanjana asked. "No. I think I kind of like you now. You are the third person who has.." Riddhima stopped suddenly. "Thank you" Sanjana replied. "Where is Bhai?" she asked asked. "He has gone to office" riddhima replied. "You know Bhabhi, I think Bhai likes you" sanjana said. Riddhima looked at her a little surprised, and then started laughing "You are saying this because you haven't seen him. He didn't even speak to me, its like as if I don't exist at all" riddhima replied a little lost.

Sanjana smiled. "He wouldn't have married you, if he didn't like you." "No. He married me because of some stupid deal, and a stupid guy called Siddhanth Modi" Riddhima replied. Sanjana laughed hearing this "Seriously. Bhabhi. Aapko lagta hai ki bhai ne Deal haasil karne ka liye aapse shaadi ki" saying she burst out laughing once again. "Ye poori duniya ko pata hai ki, mera bhai Armaan Mallik, is duniya ka smartest business man hai. He is the king of corporate world. I am sure bhai ne aapse shadi karne ke liye koi excuse banayi hogi. And I don't blame him. You are gorgeous" riddhima blushed at this. "Bhabhi, bhai doesn't mingle freely with people. He is kind of reserved. He was the one who asked me to run away from my marriage when I cried, and told him I loved someone. But bhai said 'there is no love. Everything is fake in this world' but I didn't even listen to him" Sanjana started. Noticing her mood changing, Riddhima tried to change the topic.

"You look tired. Why don't you go and freshen up? Mai tumhare liye kuch banati hun" saying so Riddhima went to kitchen and Sanjana went to freshen up. riddhima was stirring the vegetables in the frying pan, when she heard someone coming. She turned back to see Sanjana coming down. "Let me do the vegetables" she asked and started helping Riddhima. "How foolish of me, mujhe to aapke bare me kuch nahi pata, except your name ofcourse. To apne aap ke bare bataiye bhabhi" Sanjana asked. "Mere bare mein" "Haan. Like aapki pasand, aap kya karte ho, aapki hobbies etc, etc". Riddhima smiled at her. "Ok. So what do you want to know about me. Let me tell you there is nothing intresting about my life" Ridddhima answered. Riddhima was surprised at how easily, she herself bonded with sanjana. Usually she took years to bond with a person. Her thoughts were broken when she heard Sanjana ask "Kuch bhi bataiye. Chalega". Riddhima shook her head "I am a doctor, aur mai Sanjeevani mein ek surgeon thi. I am a neurosurgeon." "Cool. Aap ek doctor ho. Ab to bohat maza aayega. Bhayya ko doctor's se dar lagta hai" saying so she started laughing. "Wo kyun" riddhima asked a bit confused. "He is scared of injections" . hearing this they both burst out laughing. Time flew by, as they both bonded. Surely, destiny had plans for everyone.

Part 3

Riddhima sat in their room thinking about the past events. Leaning onto the bed post she closed her eyes. She had gotten married to a complete stranger a day before, developed new relations, shifted to a totally different place with a new identity, a new surname and what not. In short her life was a complete wreck. She had no where to head to, No where to go to, nothing to dream of and no one to look forward to. She just didn't know what to do. She was living this darn life for WHOM? For WHAT? And WHY? She didn't know. She knew nothing. She was just sick of theses games her Destiny had in store for her. Her brain screamed. All she needed was something, Something which she had no idea of. She just couldn't put into words, what she needed, because she herself didn't know what she was searching for. Being idle was the only thing she didn't do since her mother's death. It only worsened her conditions just like it was doing now. It tore her from inside.'No! Stop it'her insides screamed out. She closed her eyes, and let the tears slowly fall, as today's events flashed before her eyes.

'I am so happy for you Bhai' Sanjana hugged him after her final packing was done.

'I should be happy for you Sanju. You are leaving for New York and are going to work for one of the top Interior Designing Company. Gosh, I am going to miss you' Armaan replied taking her into a bear hug.

'Han han pata hai kitna miss karenge aap mujhe. Bhabhi jo agayin hai ab. Mai to gayi tel lene hai na. Ab to har jagah sirf wahi dikhengi' Sanjana teased him only to receive a complete opposite reaction.

'What nonsense. Hum dono ko pata hai aisa kuch nahi hai. She can never take your place in my life. Infact she has no place in my life. She is NO ONE.' Armaan answered a bit rudely.

'Bhai. Aap aisa kyun keh rahe hai. aap hi ne to ye shadi ki thi na. to phir aap ab is responsibility se piche kyun hat rahe hai ab.' Sanjana asked completely shocked.

Armaan closed his eyes controlling his rage. No one, I mean no one ever spoke to him in that manner. No one told him what his responsibility was and No one ever told him his deeds. 'You are forgetting Sanjana, I didn't marry her as per my wish.'

'Wow. Then why did you marry her. dont tell me you married her for that stupid deal of yours. I know you Bhai. That deal has no connection with your wedding.'

'You are right. That deal has no connection with this wedding. You wanna know what the actual connection is, or shall I say who the actual connection is. Its YOU!"

'Me? Please bhai apni galti mujh par kyun kos rahe ho.'

'My fault? Sanjana I married her so no one would raise a finger on you. You don't know this world, or this media. They will ruin your life. I don't want your life to get ruined. Do you want to lead your life with contemptful looks from all over the world. DO YOU?'

Sanjana looked at him with tears, 'You can atleast try to love her. She is an amazing person bhai. She..'

'I don't care Sanjana. I don't care what kind of person she is or who she is. She is just a stranger. I don't care what she does, what she speaks or EVEN IF SHE LIVES. I have had enough with this talk. We need to go. Or else you are going to miss your flight'

Sanjana looked at him with a distant look, 'I guess what they say is right. ARMAAN MALLIK IS JUST A RUDE AND A RUTHLESS BUISNESSMAN. This world has changed you Bhai. You are no more the person I thought was my brother.' Saying she walked out.

Riddhima couldn't get those words out of her mind. she wiped her tears. Mai kyun ro rahi hun. I don't even know him, and I am crying for him. She had build those forts around her, which made her look like she was made of heart of stone. She was the kind of girl who never cried in front of others. She was the kind who never expected anything from others, but why now? Why did she expect anything from him now. She was used to being the unwanted thing everywhere, except at her work. Maybe it was because of those fairytales, that she used to read, that made her believe that there would be a prince charming waiting for her. Was she so wrong in believing that someone might ever look at her with love, someone would love her like hell and... wasn't it every girls dream? To love and be loved by the man of her dreams. She wiped her tears. Her destiny had once again given her a reality check

Yesterday, when Sanjana had said her that Armaan might have liked her, she felt like on top of the world. She felt an unknown sense of happiness, which she had never experienced. But now, it all came crashing down. 'its my fault. I should have never expected anything from him.' Shaking her head, she went down. She knew what she had to do.

It was 10 at night. They were having their dinner in silence. The clattering of the spoon was the only thing one could hear. Riddhima finally thought to ask him.

'Umm... Armaan', she called out a bit nervously.

He rose his head up, totally not expecting to hear anything from her.

'Actually, Mai aapse kuch bat karna chahti thi.'

He nodded her head, asking her to continue.

'Mai wo hospital join karna chahti hun. I mean, mai ek doctor hun aur mai kaam karna chahti hun. Ghar par koi kaam nahi hai, aur maine socha ki apni practice phir se continue karloon. Only if you'd like me to. Agar aap nahin kahenge to...'

'you can.'

As they finished their dinner, Armaan called out. 'Riddhima. Try Fortis. It's a reputed hospital. I will drop you there tomorrow. Be ready at 9. Or else, you can chose the hospital you want to work in, I will drop you wherever you need' Saying so he retire to his room.

Riddhima kept the dishes in the dishwasher, smiling to herself. But that smile vanished, thinking about what he had said to Sanjana.

Whereas on the other hand Armaan felt rotten. He had seen Riddhima hear his and sanjana's talks. He saw that hurt look in her eyes, the same look which he had seen in her eyes, during the wedding. He never wanted her to see him the way she saw her father. It was Sanjana's words while she was leaving that hit him,'Atleast treat bhabhi like a human Bhai. She is an amazing person. Just give her a chance. Show her a little love.'

He sighed.

He sure didn't know where destiny was taking him. He had no idea what he should do. But he would make sure that, he wouldn't hurt her. She was his Wife. And she deserved to be treated like that. He knew he couldn't love her, love was just, not meant for him. But he would make sure she was comfortable. They were together in this for life.

But little did he know that Love was for everyone. And Destiny had given him the person, that would want to make him love her, even if he didn't want to.

Part 4

She stood outside the huge building. She had to admit the place was amazing. Whoever built this hospital had an amazing aesthetic sense. Looking at her degrees in her hand, her life's hard work she entered the building. The atmosphere was silent, just the way a hospital should be. She walked along the corridor and reached the receptionist,

"Excuse me", she called out to the receptionist.

"How may I help you mam?"

"Mr. Amol Khanna? I had an appointment with him."

"Your name mam"

"Riddhima Gup' errr Mallik. Riddhima Mallik"

"Oh yes. Sir is expecting you. His cabin is last but one, on above floor."

"Thank you."

She knocked on the door to receive a reply, "Come in". she looked at a man around forty years of age working in his laptop.

"Please have a seat Mrs.Mallik"

"Thank you sir. I already spoke to you this morning '' I"

"Oh yes. Well you are lucky. The head doctor of the Neurology Department has taken a transfer so we are short in that case. You have done your MD, in one of the reputed colleges, and your professionalism is good. We would love to have you here."

"Thank you Doctor."

"My pleasure. You can join us tomorrow."

"Sure"

Riddhima stood in the kitchen preparing dinner. She was happy now. She got to do something. She looked at the watch and saw it was 8. Armaan would be home anytime soon. Just as she was lost in her happiness of getting the job, she heard her cell ring. She went to see her crazy friend calling her,

"Muski" she answered excited.

"Someone's happy"

"Of course. Guess what"

"What? Tera Divorce hogaya" Muskaan asked sounding a little happy.

"Shut up Muskaan."

"Ok fine bata. Lekin use pehle ye bata kit tu kaisi hai. where are you. Its like you've vanished. Ridzi, tu thik to haina.Wo gadha tujhe tang to nahi karta hai na. tu bol mai uski'''."

"MUSKAAN. Shush. Kuch bolne to de. Han baba mai theek hun. Aur wo gadh'' I mean Armaan mujhe tang nahi karte hai. khush."

"Accha, theek hai. itna kyun bhadak rahi hai. ab bata tu kyun itna excited hai"

"Mai ne ek hospital join kiya hai"

"Achha. Koun si aur kahan"

"Fortis. Bangalore mein"

"Sacchi."

"Haan. Par tu kyun itna excited ho rahi hai"

"Kyunki mai bhi waha arahi hun. Tujhe to pata hai Mamma Papa wahin, Bangalore mein rehte hai aur force kar rahe the mai ajaun. Aur papa ke dost us hospital mein kam karte hai. kehrahe the Gynac mein ek post khali hai. To maine socha ajaun"

"Wow. I love you Muskaan. To kab arahi hai tu."

"Next week. Yahan kuch paper work bacha hai."

"Accha, jaldi aa. Muski lagta hai Armaan agaye hain. Mai phone rakhti hun. Kal call karungi. Chal bye."

Riddhima turned around with a cute smile on her face. Her crazy friend was coming. She felt as if life was getting perfect. But Was it?

Armaan entered the room to see her smiling to herself. He wondered what it was. It was the first time he was seeing her smile in that way, a full hearted smile. Whatever made her smile in that way was surely close to her heart. Is it because of me? He thought. Nah, she probably hates me. Well why do I care?

"Someone's looking happy" he said out unconsciously.

Riddhima looked at him shocked. It was the first time he was speaking to her with last night as an exception.

"Han wo mai, Muskaan se bat kar rahi thi. Wo next week Bangalore shift ho rahi hai"

Armaan smiled at her, while riddhima left on the pretext of setting up table. Armaan was shocked, as to how easily he spoke to her. It was not in his nature to go around speaking freely to people asking reason of their happiness and all, but with her it was as if he didn't need to put any efforts at all. There was something about her or there was something about him when he was with her. But he was not among those persons who wasted their entire life thinking, he just went with what life gave him or with what he wanted.

He went to see the dinner served. The dinner went on in silence. He was expecting her to say something, anything but she wouldn't open her mouth except for taking in her food of course.

"So," he asked finally.

She looked up at him confused.

"Tumhe job milgayi?"

"Han. Wo kal se mujhe report karna hai. Nau baje ki shift hai meri"

"Hmm. Mai kal drop kardunga tumhe. Aur pick up bhi karlunga. Agar mai late hogaya toh, Shyam ko bula lo."

"Hmm"

Riddhima smiled at him. She looked at him having his food. He was trying to speak to her. If he could give a chance to this relationship, then why couldn't she?

Few weeks later,

morning was usual, but one thing was rong. Mr.Perfect was still asleep. Riddhima looked at the time. It was 7'15 and they had to leave the house at 8'30. Usually Armaan was up by this time, but today he was still asleep. He was working on his laptop till late midnight. Seriously this guy doesn't know even A, of health. Shaking her head she stood in front of his bed. She hesitated whether to wake him up or not, then finally decided to go with it.

"Armaan."

"Armaan utho" but he was in no mood to get up.

She pulled his blanket little down and again called him out, but he just turned around covering his face in pillow with a cute frown, which only made her giggle.

This time she shouted his name, "Armaaan"

Armaan woke up with a startle. "Kya ha Riddhima. Sab kuch theek to hai na" he asked still in sleep.

She looked at him, his hair messed up, his eyes half closed, he sure was not in his senses. This made her giggle, but he was so in love with his bed that he just went to sleep again, only to bug her off.

"Armaan utho" she said finally pulling the blanket off him.

"Kya hai yaar" he said irritated.

"Its 7'15. Utho. Tumari koi meeting hai na. aur aaj mujhe jaldi hospital jaana hai. workload zyada hai. utho"

Armaan got up with a deep frown, and walked towards bathroom. "Yahan par koi chain se so hi nahi sakta"

Riddhima shook her head and walked back to the kitchen. Half an hour later Armaan entered the kitchen. He saw her cutting fruits. She was wearing one of her professional clothes. He noticed that she usually wore, suits to her work place. He had to admit, they looked amazing on her. It made her look gorgeous and not to forget sexy too. Armaan shook his head. He didn't want to go there. He didn't want to make this relationship awkward.

"Riddhima meri coffee.", he asked entering the kitchen.

She brought his usual black coffee, with no sugar and some cut fruits.

"Ye fruits kiske liye hai" he asked.

"Aapke liye. Aap breakfast nahi khate hai isiliye socha agar breakfast laungi to aapko heavy feel hoga, isiliye ye fruits"

"Mai breakfast par kuch nahi khata hun, Riddhima. Tum khalo ise"

Riddhima looked at him with a frown, "Subah khali pet accha nahi hota. Aur kya pata aap lunch kab khayenge. Please aap ye khalijiye"

"Par''.."

"Please."

"Accha theek hai. par tum apna face is tarah mat banao"

"Kis tarah"

"Is tarah. Accha chodo. Tum bhi apna breakfast khalo"

Hi guys. This is my first chapter after so many years. I have put a lot of effort in it. And I hope my writing has matured too. I sincerely hope you guys will like it. Please do comment.

Chapter 5
Armaan sat in his cabin working on a deal. He needed that deal for his company to grow stronger. He wanted to take Mallik Industries to the next level. Mallik Industries was already spreading out internationally and this deal would definitely add to it. His dream of turning Mallik industries into a multinational company was just blossoming and he definitely wanted to succeed. If only he could crush Modi like the annoying pest that he was. Granted Modi was a good businessman, but that did nothing to thaw out Armaan's feelings of animosity towards him. Oh, how he hated that smug bas***d. He always had to have the contracts that Armaan was interested in. Not that Armaan was scared of a little competition. He could take that Modi anytime, but the problem was that Siddhanth Modi had the advantage of being a Modi.
The Modi Empire was a generations old empire. They had business connections that one could have only when he came from a long line of businessmen. Armaan was not that. Mallik Industries was started by his Grandfather, who had brought it to a respectable name. but his father Balvinder Mallik had bankrupted the company and hence lost the trust and respect of the share holders. But that didn't deter armaan even once. He was proud of himself. He had taken the reins of the company at the age of 24 and had brought it to be one of India's top companies. in the past seven years he had done his best work and put in all his efforts into this company. Now there were Estrella' Malls, Mallik Industrie's first project he had taken in his hands, in almost every major city in India, and he was planning on spreading the malls to Singapore and Malaysia. There were luxury five star hotels, Clothing line, luxury products, cosmetics, and much more. He was proud of his work. But that was not enough. He wanted to take his company international.
His deal was with Jason Black. If it would become final, which he was sure it was going to, then Mallik Industries would set foot on New York and that was just the beginning. He remembered his conversation with Jason Black that afternoon,
"Congratulations on your marriage Mr.Mallik.It sure was a surprise"
"Thank you Mr.Black. And I wish you luck with your marriage"
"Well thank you. I hope you bring Mrs.Mallik to the engagement party. Heard that she is a neurosurgeon. Good for you. see you next week."
"You too."
That reminded him that he had to talk to riddhima about the engagement party. He didn't know how he felt about that. It was almost a month that they had been married. He was not used to sharing his life, and he had no idea as to what he should do. He was sure it was difficult for riddhima too. She had to move from her home and everything had changed for her in a matter of few hours. And he was sure he was not exactly a pleasant company. Life had changed for the both of them and they didn't like the change at all. He didn't like his personal space being encroached. He had liked his life before his impromptu wedding perfectly. His home was his haven, with no interference from people. He had to deal with people on daily basis due to his business and he wanted his home free from such distractions. Not that he hated mingling with people, since he had to do that for his empire, but it got rather tiresome at times and he just wanted to be alone. And now he had to share his home with another person. Even his bedroom was not his alone. He didn'tlike that. He was sure riddhima hated it too. But nothing could be done now and they were in this together, for better or worse only God knew.
It was already 8:00 pm and he thought to close for the day. If it was one month back he wouldn'thave minded staying late and working but now he had to pick up riddhima and he thought he could work from home anyway.
He waited at the parking lot of Fortis. Riddhima had told him that she would be there by 8:30 and it was already 8:35. He decided to check up on his mail. It took 5 more minutes, and he saw riddhima walking out. He just stared at her. She was gorgeous. In that Prussian blue salwaar suit she looked beautiful. He had no idea how she managed to turn the plain dress into a elegant one. He came out of his staring session when she neared. He got out of his car and opened the door for her. This was their daily routine. They would get up early, have breakfast and he would drop her off at the hospital and then again pick her up if their time schedules matched. Or else he would see her at home and they would have dinner together and then go to bed.
She smiled at him. "Hi" she told him. She was used to his opening the door for her. She kind of liked it. Whoever told that gentlemen character was out of fashion was so wrong. No man could go wrong by being a gentleman.
He smiled back and replied with an Hi. That was the most they would speak at times on their return journey to his home. He had already started the car and it would take them 45 minutes to reach his home in that traffic. They were stuck in a signal when armaan spoke.
"Riddhima."
"han"
" wo mere ek business client ka engagement party hai next week. So I wanted to know if you were free. Accha hoga if you can accompany me there. He is an important client "
" oh. Kounsa din"
" next Wednesday "
" kitne baje"
"evening 7 ko."
"ok. I will be ready"
"thank you."
Riddhima looked out the window. She hated parties and tended to avoid them as much as she could. And now she was married to India's famous buisnessman. Was he a buisnessman? She had no idea. He was the owner of mallik industries and his company was leading on all levels. He had so many branches and he owned so many malls, hotels, products and what not. She was surprised he had time to use the bathroom. She was sure his bathroom going time was also scheduled. She smiled thinking that. Well, she had to attend his various functions now. She was his wife after all and it was one of her duties now. She sighed. Well she didn't have to like it anyway. She would dress up, go to the damn function and do her duty.
Oh how she missed her old life. She missed going back to her room after her work, which she did hadn't needed to share with anyone. She missed her privacy and space. She just wanted to be alone. But she wasn't now. She had to live in his house and his room. She remembered something.
" armaan.I was thinking of buying a car. Mai khud hospital aa aur jaa sakti hun. Aur tumhe bhi koi problem nahi hogi."
"I don't have a problem in dropping you. But agar tumhe chahiye to thik hai. Which one were you planning on buying."
" I don't know. Mujhe cars ke bare me kuch zyada nahi pata. Muskaan Saturday aa rahi hai. Mai uske saath Jane wali thi."
"thik hai. Just bill it to Mallik industries."
She frowned at that. She wanted her own car.
"no. Its okay. I will just pay for it myself. I am sure I can afford it."
Armaan didn't know what to say to that. He was her husband. Wasn't he supposed to buy her stuff and all. Well she was independent and she was a neurosurgeon, so he was sure she could afford it. He guessed she would like her independence. So he left it at that.
"OK."
"so what am I supposed to wear for the event next week. Is there some dress code for rich industrialist's wives"
Armaan's face blanked at that. He had no idea. "don't worry.mai apne designer se baat karya hun. I am sure she will have an idea."
"you have a designer?" was her only reply.
" well I have lots have designers working under me. Mere clothing line wahi design karte hai. But mai khud Anjali Joshi aur Nikita Malhotra ke paas jata hun. They are good at what they do. Unhi ke wajah se I was voted as the best dressed industrialist in those magazines" he said amusedly.
"you were?"
"yeah. Don't worry I will send them to you. Tum jab free ho mujhe bata de na."
"theek hai" was the only thing that she could answer.
It took them 50 minutes to reach home. Bangalore traffic sucked riddhima thought, not that Mumbai's was any better. She decided to freshen up first and came out wearing a lounge pants and a peach colored top. Jockey comfort was the best she thought.
She stood in the kitchen trying to decide what to cook when she saw armaan going to his study. She decided to ask him
" tumhe Jo banana hai wahi banao riddhima. I don't mind."
And then he entered his study.
" wah kya suggestion hai." She muttered.
Then armaan suddenly came out of his study " Jo tumne last week banaya tha na the green thing with paneer."
"Palak paneer"
" han. Wo. It was...nice" saying he disappeared again.
Armaan sat there working on his deal. He still didn't understand why she wanted to cook when he had so many good cooks in his home. She had said that she loved cooking. It was theraupatic. And she would take the cook's help when she was tired and anyway cooking for two people was no problem.
Well she did cook well so he had no problem with that.
They were having dinner. "you cook well. Its nice."
"thanks."
" tumhe ye sab sikhne ke liye time kaha mila. Medical school is time consuming. "
" I like cooking, so problem nahi thi. Waise I don't know all the dishes. Only a selected few. But I love baking. Kabhi time Milne par I bake cookies and brownies. I make mean cupcakes. Muskaan hamesha peeche padi rehti thi mere to make cupcakes for her."
Armaan realised that this was the first conversation they were having where he learned something about her. He just smiled. Maybe this relationship would work out for the best.

Chapter 6

Riddhima was supposed to meet Anjali and Nikita, armaan's top fashion designers today. She was outside Mallik Industries main building. She guessed it had to be at least 20 floors. Well, when you had a buisnessman empire as big as the Mallik Industries then the office had to be a skyscraper. Before she could enter the main gate she was stopped by a few security guards.
"Mam. You have to check in with your employee card."
"I am not an employee."
"This is employee entry only mam. Visitors are supposed to use the other gate. On the other side.I am sorry for the inconvenience. Its for security reasons. "
"I get it." Saying so she reversed her car.
When she reached the other side. She was asked for her identification. When she showed them her identification she was allowed after a thorough security check.
The only thing that she could do was raise her eyebrows at the security. Was he the President? She thought.
Finally she reached the main building. Where there was another security scan. He did invest a lot in his security. When she reached the reception, she was met by a beautiful woman,
"Welcome to Mallik Industries Industries. How may I help you?"
"Which floor does 'Mariposa clothing line' office belong to."
"Its floor 18 mam"
"Thank you"
"You are welcome. Have a good day mam"
She reached the elevator where she had to show her visitors Id she was given, again.
When she reached the 18th floor, she was led to Anjali after going through the receptionist of their office. She met Anjali, who looked like she could model for the clothing line herself. She was dressed professionally in a sleek black pants and a silk shirt. Her hair styled and pinned up. Her makeup was flawless.
"Mrs.Mallik. Hi. I was waiting for you. Armaan told me that you would be coming today. Its a pleasure to meet you."
"Likewise. Please call me Riddhima."
"Sure. Riddhima. I am so glad to meet you."
Just then someone came in. She was around 4" 6 and packed with so much energy, riddhima wondered if she had just chugged a pot full of caffeine.
"Hi. I am Nikita Malhotra. I just came to know that you came in. I was so excited to meet you. God you are beautiful.Armaan, that lucky bas***d. Plus he are a neurosurgeon. I thought nerds were supposed to be I don't know nerds?.. But you turned out to be a gorgeous and HOT person.Sorry just had a lot of coffee. Aaj last day tha kuch designs submit karne ke liye."
"Please don't mind Nikki. Uska talk filter bachpan se kharab hai."
Riddhima just smiled. Well what else was she supposed to say?
"Let's get the introductions out of the way. I am Anjali Joshi I mainl design the western section and the lingerie wear and this is Nikita Malhotra, she is our traditional wear designer and accessories designer."
"You guys can call me Riddhima. I am a neurosurgeon. Sorry woh late hogaya, there was a complication in a case."
"We understand. Nice design by the way. Ye dress kahan se liya tumne. Its gorgeous." Nikita said, looking at Riddhima's white salwaar suit. "The dress is sexy."
Riddhima just smiled at that. " meri friend Sapna me design kiya tha. She is in Mumbai."
" Sapna Shah. You know her. Wow. She is a well known designer. Armaan tried getting her to work for him. But she wanted to work fo some Amit guy. " Niki exclaimed.
"Yeah. Wo Amit uska fiance hai."
"OK guys. Let's focus. We have a dress to choose." Anjali said.
"Yeah. Mujhe nahi pata what to wear for these kind of things."Riddhima replied.
" I think you should go with a saree. Give a traditional look. Its an engagement party after all." Nikita told her.
" Well the guy is from States. Maybe you should go with a gown. Kyun Nikki." Anjali asked her
"Par bride to Indian hai na. Aur most of them will be wearing gowns. Riddhima should wear something different." Nikita replied.
" Yeah you are right. Gowns ke liye aur bakhi functions hai."
Saying they laid out a dozen sarees and gowns in front of her.Riddhima looked skeptical. " itne sare." She asked.
" Han. I am sure there will be many functions you would have to attend. "
Anjali then took her size.
"I am so excited. So riddhima tell me what kind of clothes do you lean towards to. Hum log woh zyada design karenge." Nikita told them.
"I don't need any new clothes. Ihave enough."
" Please koi ladki ke liye, clothes are never enough." Nikka said laughing.
Riddhima laughed at that. " that's true. But I think mera budget isse agree nahi karega."
Anjali just smiled. "Please you don't have to pay."
Riddhima frowned at that. "No I am going to pay. I am sure this is not free"
"There is no need to pay Riddhima." She heard Armaan tell her. She turned to look at him entering the office.
"Exactly. You are his wife." Anjali told her.
"But..."
" please riddhima. Ye Mallik Industries ka Hi clothing line hai. Its no need." Armaan told her.
Riddhima just frowned and decided she would talk to him about it in private.
" wah armaan aaj yahan kaise. Yahan kabhi to aate nahi ho tum. Mrs. Mallik se Milne aye ho." Nikita teased him.
Riddhima looked at her surprised. She was sure no employee was supposed to tease a boss like that, especially a hardass one like armaan. She had also called him a lucky bas***d before. She wondered what kind of interoffice relationship this company shared.
Armaan just raised his eyebrow. "Tumne naye designs submit kardiye Ms.Malhotra? I just saw you coming out of the food court.I am surei pay you to work, not stuff your stomach."
Nikita's teasing smile was replaced by a glover.
Armaan just smirked at that. While Anjali burst out laughing. She was sure nothing phased Armaan. He was a hardass after all. Riddhima had no idea what was going on.
"Ghar chalein riddhima?"
" I will make sure your saree is delivered by this Saturday. And we will meet again. Tumhare liye naye designs discuss karne ke liye." Anjali said.
" I would love to meet you guys. But I don't need a new wardrobe. I already have enough. "
Nikita started frowning at that. She was about to voice an opinion but armaan interfered.
" tum logon ko Jo karna hai wo bame decide kar Lena. Abhi Hume chalna chahiye."
"Han han armaan. Abhi toh tumhe chalna chahiye. Apni wife ke sath time Jo spend karna hai." Nikki teased him again.
Armaan just shook his head. "Chalein riddhima." He asked her.
"Han. Bye Nikita, Anjali. And thank you for thehelp."
She followed out after armaan. She saw him going to an elevator. Thankfully there was no security guard asking for her identification there. When she told him that, he told her it was a private elevator which only he used.
"Accha hai. At least itne sare security clearance nahi karne paste hai tumhe roz."
Armaan frowned at that.why would his guards check her.
When they reached the parking lot directl riddhima told him that she had to return her visitors pass. Armaan frowned at that too.she was his wife. There was no need of that for her. He would take care of that the next day he thought. " its OK riddhima. Next time you don't have to use the visitors pass.I will inform the security. "
Riddhima just nodded at that.
They were having dinner, when riddhima decided to voice her problem, " Armaan I would like to pay for the dresses myself."
" Riddhima. Its OK. Waise bhi meri company hai. It doesn't make sense for you to be paying for it."
" but itne sare dresses hai. Its gonna be a huge loss for you. "
" Riddhima you are my wife. Its no big deal. And tum kuch bhi le sakti ho. Its your right."
"I don't want to be a burden armaan. I can..."
"Please riddhima, its no burden. Don't turn it into a big deal." He was getting irritated. Why couldn't she just accept it.
" but."
"Please riddhima. Just let it go." He said angrily and went up to his study after abandoning his dinner.
Riddhima looked at him marching off. She was angry too. She didn't want to impose on him.she knew he felt like she was an outsider sharing his space and she just didn't want to add to it more. She had already felt like a stranger in his office today. She just felt lonely. And then she had talked to armaan's designer's who were his college friends. And they wanted her to change her wardrobe and wanted to have those designe er wear for free. She just didn't like it. She knew it was within her rights as his wife on those and many more things. But she was his wife just in the eyes of public. But they barely talked to each other and she didn't feel like his wife and it hurt her pride to accept what he was giving. She was fiercely independent. She had worked her ass off to go to AIIMS medical college where she had done her MBBS and MS and she had paid for herself since then. She had stopped depending on her father who treated her like a burden since long. And she didn't want to let armaan pay for her. She just didn't want to. She knew she was being absurd. But she didn't want to.
Armaan was frustrated. He left his file on the desk and went to their room. She was reading a file sitting on the bed. She was wearing spectacles and her hair was in a high pony tail. She looked gorgeous. Her face clear of all makeup. He sighed. He had seen how uncomfortable she looked in his office today. She had felt like a stranger. And it was his fault. It was all so new to her, and so strange. He didn't like the way she thought that she had to pay for his stuff. She was his wife. And she was going to be treated like one. He would make sure she was comfortable. It was his duty damn it.it wa his fault too. He had let her feel like a stranger in his own, now their house. It had to change.
He went and sat in front of her. Riddhima was startled to see him.
" I am sorry. Dinner ke wakht mai kuch zyada gussa hogaya tha. Look riddhima, I know ki hamari marriage ko ek normal start nahi mila. Hum dono ko yeh shadi manzur nahi thi. But we are married now. And we are in this together for life. Mai is relationship ko apnane ki koshish karunga. And I want you to feel comfortable. This is your house too. I know tumhare liye sab adjust karne me time lega but please don't be a stranger. And you are my wife now. And you don't have to feel like you are a burden. You have every right on those dresses or whatever the heck you want. And I am sorry, mujhe security ko tumhare visit ke bare me batana tha.and please don't feel like a stranger. OK"
Riddhima just looked at him.
" At least we can try to get along. By the way nice glasses." Saying so he walked away to the washroom.
Riddhima jus stared at the empty spot where he had been sitting. Then suddenly a beautiful smile replaced her startled expression.
