Khushi composed herself telling herself that she was in a party and she couldn't afford to cry openly being a public figure. She picked her phone from the ground and started moving carelessly while her vision was blurred due to tears still forming in her eyes.

She hit herself against a table as she was lost in her thoughts and couldn't see due to the tears. Yelp of deep pain, both mental and physical left her mouth while she pursed her lips to avoid any more sounds leaving her mouth. Since there was no place to sit down there, Khushi tried moving while the pain in her leg made her lose her balance. She was anticipating her fall and had closed her eyes, as she didn't even have the energy to reduce the impact of the fall.

But miraculously she had not landed on the ground but was floating in mid-air, while she felt someone's warm hands around her waist, securing her in place. Khushi slowly opened those tear-filled eyes of hers to look into the eyes of her savior, who was also the cause of her pain, Arnav Singh Raizada.

" Tum Theek Ho?" That question in Arnav's husky voice felt like a balm to her wounded heart.

" Hey Kanha Ji, Yeh Kaisi Aap Ki Leela Hai! Jo Dard Deta Hai Wohi Marham Bhi Lagata Hai." Khushi didn't know how to react, while more and more tears continued to flow from her eyes, as NK's words resonating in her mind along with their happy moments.

" Is it paining a lot? You want to go to the doctor?" Arnav concernedly asked her while it brought back Khushi into the present and her senses. She made a straight face and answered,

" Yeah, it is paining a lot. But how does it matter to you? Leave me alone for sometime, I will be alright."

" You are no longer mine, Arnav. I cannot get habituated to your concern, I cannot afford to build expectations when you belong to someone else." Her tough tone was a symbol of how tough the situation of hers. Though Arnav somewhere felt that she was hurt mentally, his ego and his pain blinded him again.

He pushed Khushi away from him while she struggled to gain balance, which she gained after she caught hold of the table and Arnav walked away just like he did after marrying her. The pain on her leg was a very small one, which would ease off in a few minutes but the pain which was in her heart, when would it heal?

To say that Khushi was hurt, would be an euphemism, an understatement and a white lie. Because she was not hurt. She felt destroyed, devastated and deprived. Arnav had every right to love anyone he wished to, but hating her to this extent was killing her in every passing moment. Tears flowed down from her eyes but the burden of pain on her heart didn't seem to reduce.

Sighs left her mouth due to her difficult breathing but torment of love didn't seem to leave her.

If only the question, why true love had so much pain, had an answer, probably the situation of star-crossed lovers wouldn't have been so heartrending.

Next Morning,

Arnav had not come to the room, the whole night knowing that Khushi would be in his room. He made her feel as if she was someone cursed, cursed to love and die in it, not just once but every single second.

A call rang on Khushi's phone, which she answered as the phone displayed NK's name.

" Hello.."

" Khushi, did you read the newspaper today?" No hi or hello, NK had directly asked her which was important while his tone made Khushi panic.

" Why? What happened? I didn't read it yet." Khushi cross-questioned him while lines of worry appeared on her face, tenfold more than what was there already.

" There is an article in today's newspaper with the heading, ' It's Complicated In Between Arnav Singh Raizada and Khushi Gupta!'. And there is a photo where Arnav is holding you.What happened in the party, Khushi?" Khushi's face went white with worry. The media had seen them close to each other and reported it?

"I am sure Arnav will hate me more with this. He would think that I acted hurt intentionally so that I bring the media's attention to ourselves." Khushi's pain-filled voice was hurting NK. For a person who took his friends' pain as his own, Khushi's pain was intolerable.

" Khushi, get away from him. He will only give you pain." NK advised her in a solemn and sincere voice while Khushi was not in a mood to accept it.

" How NK? How? I had promised Sadhana Aunty that I will not let Arnav destroy his life? Till I bring him out of all his bad habits, I cannot leave this place. I cannot break the promise I made to Sadhana Aunty, especially when it is related to Arnav." NK could hear Khushi's muffled sobs and pain-streaked voice which was shooting sharp daggers in his heart.

The extent of their love for each other was indescribable. But while someone was under a false cover that every action of the person they loved was driven by ego, the other was under a misconception that their love was in love, was the possession of someone else.

" Don't worry, Khushi. I will make everything right. I will not let your career or life get wasted like this. I will ask the media to apologize to you and Arnav for this and will ask them to stop showing this news on the channels. You don't worry Khushi. But please reconsider your decision, because I think Arnav will just give you more pain and.." NK's statement was cut in between while his previous words were turning into stark reality as Arnav threw away the phone from Khushi's hands, which made Khushi turn and see herself floating in those dark chocolate orbs.

" Arnav.."

The same fury pooled in his eyes as that night when he forcibly made her his, the same look was plastered on his face as when he accused her of making a physical relationship with him to stop the annulment. He held Khushi's upper arms in a vice-like grip and held her against the wall beside the wardrobe as Khushi's breaths halted, while tears flowed freely from her eyes as her ears resonated with his harsh words,

"You must be very happy to see the news today right? Getting associated with me in the public through media? I am sure you were acting yesterday so that the picture would get into the newspapers. Insulting me in front of the college was not enough that now you want to insult me in front of the whole world? Sometimes I don't understand what you want, Ms.Gupta. I just don't understand your complicated game-plan but I am sure about one thing, that I hate myself to have loved you. I hate you and myself."

Arnav😡😡😡you are dead dammit 😡😡😡 you can't brelive how angry i am reading this update...this jerk deserve nothing and khushi should get away from him 😭she was already so sad and again he made her more sad.
