Quality of Content

I've been a loyal viewer of hindi soaps for over a decade and half at this point. I just had to put my thoughts out there on what I'm seeing and what my thoughts are.

I feel the Indian TV scene - hindi dailies, weekly etc have so much potential. They have better budgets, newer channels allow for more programs to be generated thus creating employment for many. Those are all the great things happening.

My post today is in regards to the content of these shows - I know there are many that will say I should just turn my tv off if it doens't suit my taste - and that's fair.

My question is why are many of the shows on air so regressive in content or so poor in writing?

I see many shows that launch with a really good theme or concept but somewhere down the line the writing takes a dive, the stories get more and more senseless and goes in circles with the negative characters succeeding in their endeavors and the positive characters suffering until its time for the show to go off air and everything magically gets resolved over 2-3 episodes.

There are so many good stories to be told and some great shows were made that were entertaining had a cohesive plot and had a message or challenged the viewers to see things in a different light. One show that comes to mind is Kora Kagaz on star plus in the late 90s - addressed infidelity, re-marriage and forced marriages when one loves someone else.

This an earnest plea to raise the bar for content. I feel there is a huge population of viewers who can appreciate such content, lets give the audience more credit.
