Actress Juhi Parmar is not bitter about her Nach Baliye 3 experience. Rather she is looking forward to taking a short break and hosting the next season of Antakshri. She is also optimistic about falling in love soon.
Q Do you think it was a fair decision to make you a part of Nach Baliye despite you being single?
It was the channel's decision and I think it was a real creative idea to go ahead with. The show is about couples in real life, married or in a relationship. But since I don't have a partner in real life, the channel decided to find a baliye for me through auditions all over the country. He was supposed to be a regular guy, who is a good dancer. He would have been my partner till my journey lasted on the show and it would have been a great opportunity for someone absolutely unknown to showcase his talent. But when the decision was announced some of the participants objected and the idea was dropped.
Q But isn't it the channel's call to tweak the format the way it wants? What's your reaction to the participants' objection?
The participants didn't like the idea. They felt that while they were putting in all the hardwork, I was being given a backdoor kind of entry. Their fear was that the audition may throw up a very good dance partner for me which could affect their chances of making it to the final. Since the idea created a negative reaction I didn't want to work in a negative atmosphere. I opted out because I wouldn't have been able to work by making my colleagues from the television industry unhappy. I also don't blame them for reacting in this manner. They must have felt I was being given a special privilege. But the idea was to give an opportunity and platform to a lay person to come forward and show his talent.
Q Do you regret not being able to take part in the show though you have been offered to do it thrice?
No, I don't have any regrets. Since I don't have a partner I couldn't take part in Nach Baliye twice before and this year the channel was keen on getting me on the show and hence thought of a unique idea. I love dancing and I love the show. But I am fine with whatever has happened.
Q You have completed eight years in the industry and have also been linked with some of your co-actors. Any particular reason for being single so far?
Well, I am not going to find a partner for myself just to take part in Nach Baliye. The reason for being single is simple. I am a focussed person and I have concentrated on my career which has kept me completely occupied. There has been no time to think of love or loving someone. Another reason is that I have never believed in frivolous relationships. I can't date someone or get into a relationship and walk out of it later to get into another relationship. To me, the motive to get into a relationship has to be marriage. If I don't see marriage happening love will not happen to me.
Q Is there a chance of love happening any time now? Are you prepared for a relationship?
When I got into acting I was too young and unprepared for anything other than work and my career. In fact, I couldn't even think of any person in my life. Work kept me so busy that I enjoyed being single. But now I am prepared for love and relationship if it leads to marriage though I haven't met anyone yet who I think is the perfect man for me.
Q So you are looking for a perfect man. What's your idea of perfection?
There is no idea or definition of perfection. I don't think love has any definition. Love happens without looking for it and sometimes it doesn't happen if you keep looking for it all the time. Love is more instinctive. You meet someone and it happens instantly.
Q The second season of Antakshri is coming to an end? Will you be doing the next season too?
Of course. Music is a part of me and I can't say no to a show which is about music and which I have really enjoyed doing. But there will be a break before the next season starts and I am really happy that I will get about a week in a month for myself for a few months till the next season of Antakshri happens.
Q Your costumes in Antakshri have been found to be too loud and garish. Will you opt for sober colours in the next season?
I don't take a call on my costumes. The channel and my director decided the costumes in sync with the theme of the show. I don't care what others says because they don't decide what I should wear.
Q Six days in a month for oneself is a necessity or luxury?
It is a must given the fact that my working hours are so long. But it sounds like a luxury because of the way we are required to work. But I am going to have a gala time shopping, meeting friends and going out with my sister and friends.
