Today I felt like standing up and applauding Ranaji... What a master stroke... Now this is what I call Diplomacy 101 - How to have your cake and eat it too...

How you ask? Take lesson ladies and gentlemen... You will find it useful in life...

Problem: Rana is trapped between two women... His first love and queen and his ego-boost (I am calling her ego-boost because that is her job title from now on).

But ego-boost has threatened that she won't boost his ego if he chooses his first love.

And he can't let his first love go even though she threatened to leave because unlike ego-boost's case when he asked Raj Maata, "So what do you want? Keep the queen against her wish locked in the palace?" he wants to go against his first love's wish and wants to do exactly that.

But a man needs his ego-boost since his first love is not stroking it enough.

Now what to do?

The solution: Pretend to harm oneself. Not life threatening and not in private. Do it in front of the ego-boost (you can't do in front of the first love. You need an idiot for this) to scare her enough to stick to your side.

Then tell her, the first wife can be the queen and the second wife can be the errrmm... A wife. Ta da... I mean I know that she won't have any legal rights or position higher than a maid. But still you can be a wife.

Now this ego-boost can't stay comfortably in the palace because her presence causes the queen to commit suicide and can't leave the palace and actually have a life because her absence causes the king to commit suicide. Both are not commiting suicide, just a threat mind you to make the ego-boost's life living hell...

Now let's take this ego-boost. She threatened that select one wife and stick to it. He said she is that said wife. Then, is the first wife no longer a wife then? Just a queen employed by the state like a figurehead (Kinda like Queen of England)?

Rana needs heir. So can he only have them with his wife which is by his definition is the ego-boost or with both? And since she is his wife, will he from now on share a room with her and treat the first wife like any other woman staying at the palace who is NOT his wife?

Obviously we don't teach our girls diplomacy and how to spot it. Otherwise, if I was Gayetri, I'd ask those question. Because if you ask me she got the crap end of the stick.

When I posted this response, I made a point that if Gayetri is "the wife", then according to Rana, who is Sulakshana?

Well, I just saw SBB segment where Sulakshana asks Gayetri to dance and the fact that Rana didn't stop Sulakshana before Gayetri danced or when she made Gayetri her maid, was the proof that Sulakshana is the wife and the queen while Gayetri is the second wife in his mind.

Because a truly loving husband won't let another woman insult his wife even at the Queen's whim, specially when he is more powerful than the said queen, being the king himself.

Again, that is proof of my point. Rana did not had to take a tough decision of selecting one woman by making Gayetri stay as "a wife" instead of "the wife" and Gayetri being the idiot in love never questioned that if she is "the wife", then is Sulakshana is just a woman living in the palace for him with whom he will have no husband and wife relation nor any such rights.

So far Rana has given no indication that for him Sulakshana is no longer is wife. That means he managed to go around Gayetri's ultimatum by making an utter fool of her. Again, that is Diplomacy 101.

I can understand your sarcasm, you seem to view what happened as hoodwinking Gayatri, and how can she fall for this etc. But I'm glad she has because apparently its going to be her to uncover the imposter Sulakshana so she needs to remain there in the house to do this, also her poor parents they've been so worried for her marriage for such a long time, it would be a shame it ended because of a lie (imposter posing at the first wife).

But from what they are showing us he seems to have reversed the roles of Gayatri and Sulakshana in the beginning Sula was the one he loved and only her would be his wife and Gayatri was the Queen only. Now Indra is saying no Sula is only Queen but you are my wife and the one I love, he said to Sula and BRM faked the suicide with Sula. Now at the birthday party Gayatri will be dancing because Sula wants to humiliate her and finally Indra stands up and goes to stop her amidst a catch and fall sequence and he claims Gayatri is also Queen and his wife so Sula can't request her to dance and do her every whim. So no problem right, because his not sleeping with Sula, I think after all this what happened on Friday with the burning of the hand, he and Gayatri are sleeping together, unless they plan to show a Suhag Raat later, but I feel they are showing it as she's accepted him as her husband in her room. I don't know how did you all see it?

Bang on!! I loved what u choose to call G😆 she is indeed that ego-booster ! I dun find Rana even a wee bit affected with su's presence .He in fact is chilling with 2 ladoos being offered 😛... its ONLY when G threatens to leave him does he react other than that he's pretty much okay with current settlement & u know I even have a doubt if he loves Gayatri at all !! Most of his actions are🥱 , he doesn't speak when its required , he doesn't give 2 hoots at the distraught state of G. Its too bad an option G is stuck with such a man & like she can't go back coz of her familial reputation & staying with him is😵

@tia, I can understand whatever you tried to convey. But the fact remains same, BRM is having the cake & also eating it and it is not Ranaji. Whether Ranaji consider Sona as his wife or Gayathri as his wife in private, to the world, both are his wives and when it comes to the crown price, normally the son of the queen (crowned) will succeed his father and only if he is incapable, the other son (born to any other legal wife of Ranaji). So if Ranaji doesn't sleep with his first love who is now the crowned queen, he will not be able to have his heir for the throne. Even if he happen to father a child with Gayathri, he will not inherit the throne and if he has to get a chance, the n an equal chance will be given to either Kunvar Chacha or his son or his son (Swarna's son). This is why BRM waited till Ranaji develop feelings for Gayathri to present Sona, so that Ranaji will be in a fix to decide on his life and his life partner. So by the time Ranaji decide on Gayathri, she is confident that Swarna will give birth to a baby which she will present as the heir to the throne.

I know why CVS are doing it. And you are right that without Gayetri being physically present in the palace, she can't expose BRM or fake queen. However, my post was based on taking the situation in a realistic setting.

We know Sulakshana is fake. But in the current situation, neither Gayetri nor Ranaji knows that. In this situation, Gayetri is reacting as a woman in love. But unfortunately Rana is reacting like a man who "likes" Gayetri and don't want to do injustice to her, but not as much in love with Gayetri as she is with him.

If Sulakshana had insulted his mother, will it take that long for him to react? If Gayetri had treated Sulakshana like she treated Gayetri, will it take him that long to react?

He knows very well that Gayetri doesn't want to be his second wife. So when he is seeing that she is not happy and if for one moment, let's believe that he loves her, why not let Sulakshana go? She forgot her memory hence not in love with him herself and as per her she only came back because she heard how devastated he was. But he is not devastated any more. So let Suoakshana live a comfortable life elsewhere. Considering her memory loss she won't miss being a queen either since she can't remember being a queen.

Whereas as per his own admission, he is in love with Gayetri and she is in love with him and she married him in good faith that she will be his only wife. Nothing is stopping him from choosing Gayetri. Well, except BRM. But his life is none of BRM's business.

Now let's forget that portion. Let's take the scenario where he convinced Gayetri that she is his wife. Then who is Sulakshana? If Sulakshana is not his wife and only queen, why be all taking picture with her in public and barely acknowledging Gayetri? Why not stand with his Wife? If Rana had stood with Gayetri, Sulakshana won't have been able to insult her. Even the real Sulakshana won't have dared.

This is my point. A man in love doesn't let his love shed a single tear. Love is not selfish and love is not Diplomacy. Love is being politically incorrect and go to any length to make someone else happy.

He throws crumbs of affection to Gayetri and she melts and stays with him. If Sulakshana wasn't fake, then Gayetri will be called a different name (a really ugly name). And if a friend or relative of ours were in Gayetri's situation, we'd be looking at the situation entirely differently.

That's a very interesting point of view...there is an inherent risk there though...the assumption that he will not respond to Sulakshana...also, BRM has been trying to mess up with their relationship from the suhaag raat...and making attempts on Gayathri's life...like you said, maybe she did all this to gain time for Swarna to give birth to a child...

See, there is a difference being sad to see someone upset and actually hurting to see someone upset. Ranaji is the first case. He is sad to see Gayetri upset whereas Gayetri hurts when she sees Rana upset.

That's why, when Gayetri is upset Rana doesn't do much whereas when Rana is upset, Gayetri goes against her wish not to be a second wife and asks Sulakshana to stay at any cost even the cost of losing her rights.

That is the difference between liking someone and loving someone.

You are right. When Rana acknowledged Sulakshana as the queen in public Gayetri ceased to have any rights as wife. Because in British era, as per inheritance law, you can't have two wives. If one is the wife, the other is the mistress and mistresses don't have any rights nor their children have any claim on the throne or title. However the father can leave unentailed property like cash, land, jewellery to children of an illegitimate union.

Rana is a king so he is aware of that law, Gayetri is not. So knowing that law, he let Gayetri believe that she is his wife while acknowledging Sulakshana was the most hurtful thing anyone can do to an innocent woman.

If he wasn't sure of Sulakshana, he should have investigated or let crown know that he is trying to find out if Sulakshana is who she is before he crowns her. But he took the easy way out at the cost of Gayetri's reputation. In my opinion, that is an act of King, not an act of a man in love.

Of course BRM will do what she has done. She doesn't have any love for Rana or his family.

But Rana claims to love Gayetri. After all this, he knows that Gayetri won't be able to leave him and live peaceful life of her own. He still let that happen. Hence my point is proved.
