There's, finally, some good news from tinseltown, and this time it's Sonam Kapoor who's making us proud.

After a string of Bollywood women dissing feminism and disowning the movement completely, Sonam Kapoor finally took a stand and announced she was a 'complete feminist,' and it's nothing to be shy about.

In a session during the 17th Jio MAMI Mumbai Film Festival, Sonam Kapoor said, "I am a complete feminist... being a feminist is to understand that it's not about boys and girls, it's about being who you are, not being afraid, and standing up for what you believe is right." She further spoke about how she considers her father, Anil Kapoor, to be a feminist as well, as she says, "My father is the best person I know because he encourages me and my sister. He treats me as a strong capable individual and for that he is a feminist. He believes that these girls are more than capable of doing a lot of things which a lot of people are not."

All this coming from a Bollywood actress when most of them--like Parineeti Chopra and the like--outright disassociate with feminism is heartening to see, and we're giving Sonam the pat on the back she deserves.

Although we give her full credit for understanding the term and owning up to it, we're slightly disappointed about her views on equal pay. On the subject of equal pay, Sonam Kapoor said, "They complain about equal pay and I understand that. If you think you deserve something, fight for it and the best way to fight for it, is by not doing it. So don't work for those people who you think are not paying you enough. Don't complain about it."

While this may be a good solution for inherently privileged women, when it comes to a larger percentage of women in the workforce - it gets more complicated than that. But again, baby steps y'all.

We're happy to know that Sonam is not afraid to take a stand, and we hope other women in the Indian film industry who 'believe in equality, but aren't feminists' follow suit.
