ur right tht ppl who live abroad where western clothes.... i do the same... bt when we meet or have parties or whtever with ppl of our culture... everyone wears their traditional clothes ....

it doesnt mean tht just bcos we live here we hate everything abt back home... otherwise we wudnt watch indian shows like KWK.... or indian dramas... or even indian movies... we wudnt listen to indian music.... or like indian actors or actresses...... its true tht we do watch american movies... or whetever country we live in .... bt we also like to watch indian or paki stuff...

its ok tht actors and actresses wear western clothes... there is nothing wrong with tht.... bt some of them hardly wear their own clothes.... thts the only point tht im trying to make here.....

i give a big applause to those actors/actresses who actually represented who they really are..... like madhuri.... sanjay bansali.....hema malini.... jaya bachan... shweta bachan.....etc.. etc...

Even Karan mentioned it in his last episode of behind the scenes that they make it look western and also if you saw Farah Khan, Deepika and SRk episode, you must have heard Farah mentioning it 2-3 times that he makes all his stuff for NRI's only. His movies, his program is focussed more to impress NRI's rather than millions of Indians who have made them stars. Even I live abroad, but we want to see the real India when we watch these shows. I felt that Simi Garewal's show was better, not that this isnt good. But this looks more fake, the way they come and chit-chat. Just my point of view, dont get offended you all.

I agree with u

heyyy
listen . i agree with the lancome part.
but as for copying the americans i disagree.
the reason why the actresses wear their dresses instead of sarees and/or salwars is probably cuz they like to be in more. it is more comfortable in my opinion. so its not that they are actually trying to copy. they jus like it and want to wear. tht is their opinion on what to wear na? we shudnt realy be commentin on how they copy. we can comment on how they act/ appear on screen in movies. but not really as to what they wear.

and probably why fardeen nd his family speak so "american-y" is probably because they all studied there sumtime in their life or because they've visited places sooooo many times tht the accent has just picked on. its not like they are immitating them. cuz if they were imitatin only a few words wud be with a strong accent but fardeen talks with an accent all the tiime.

this is what i think- my opinion. dnt hate me 😊

heyy

id like to mention that so what if karan talks like a gay person?? so what if he is gay?? why is that issue always brought up when karan is involved.???

if he is gay let him be gay. give respect to evry1 (not tht im saying you are not respecting him) but the whole topic was the abt teh way he mispronounced lancome..?? so just start and end at tht. dnt bring in by saying he is gay.. he dresses and talks like a gay.
its ok ! tht is just who he is. for all you knw he might not even be gay !

this is my opinion - dnt hate me 😊

I am not sure what you are trying to look for when you want to see the "real India" in these shows. If you go anywhere in India now, the people that we see in these shows are just like the people you will see there. Everyone is into fashion and being celebrities they should definitely be dressed formally. Sometimes people are comfortable wearing western clothes more than Indian Sari's or shalwar kameezes. I find that most of the youth and the professionals will wear more of western style clothing than indian. There is nothing wrong with that, if all of India can do it, whats wrong if they do it too?

Also, whats wrong with speaking English? I dont get that! If you are in India which supports like 50 languages, and almost all literate Indians know English. So there is nothing to show off when they speak English as far as I can see it. Even Simi Garewal hosted her show only in English.

As far as being "gay" is concerned. Is there anything wrong if he is? India is still years behind in accepting them in society, so it may be hard for him to come forth and say it. May be he is, may be he isn't. But what will be the point of discussing his personal choice or actually..... his genes?

Finally, appealing to the NRI's is not a bad thing. Different movies appeal to different sects of the society. Karan is targetting NRI's as his audience but probably not with KWK as the stars that come on the show are first and foremost hit in India and then abroad.

Again, I respect your opinion but just had to put forth what I had in mind. :)

Karan's english is splendid, so I'm no one to comment on a slight inappropriateness of pronounciation.
About the dressing of celebrities, well, its the glam factor. They aren't all western, some dress Indian too.

As for them speaking exclusively in English, honey, that's one of the USPs of this show. Its an english show dedicated to the Indian Film Fraternity... thats what sets it a class apart 😊

Well this is my first post on the India Forum. First let me say I am a native born Englishman who can't speak a word of Hindi. I do though love Indian cinema and watch avidly.

KWK is the only TV show I can watch and get a feel of the personalities and stars of Bollywood. And as for Karam he is one of the most intelligent, humourous and accommodating talk show hosts on TV anywhere. Please don't criticise him for having an English speaking show (and by the way his command of English is masterful and many English TV presenters could learn much from him). He seems to bring the best out of everyone he interviews (except Richard Gere) and does so by being probing without being rude. Simi is a different kind of show. I still like it but she seems keen to stay clear of controversy.

All kudos to KWK and long may it run.
