Is Vidya back in the running for Durga Rani Singh?

News has been doing the rounds that Vidya Balan has been cast in a special appearance in the Amitabh Bachchan-Nawazuddin Siddiqui suspense thriller TE3N. Surprisingly, there is no mention of the fact that a big patch-up resulted between Vidya and the film's creative producer Sujoy Ghosh, which in turn had led to the actress' casting.

Maybe Sujoy leaked the khabar and didn't want the patch-up to be written about. But how can one forget the cracks in his relationship with Vidya which had developed soon after Kahaani released?

In an exclusive interview to 9xe, Vidya had even admitted to her cold war with Sujoy which began when she rejected his film Durga Rani Singh citing health reasons: "I haven't met Sujoy or spoken to him since. Our present equation is obviously awkward but we made a beautiful film together and he is someone I am very fond of. I know he is upset but hopefully, he'll come around someday." (Vidya: Infidelity is unacceptable to me, June 22).

So how and where did Vidya and Sujoy kiss and make up? Over hot cups of coffee, and a lot happened over those.

Vidya was driving home after meeting her parents who stay bang opposite the cafe, and she decided to stop over for a takeaway. She was accompanied by a friend who walked straight inside to order the beverage.

Suddenly, Vidya spotted Sujoy at a nearby table. It was a damn awkward moment.

Well, better sense prevailed this time and both flashed a smile at each other at the same time. The very next minute, they were sitting and clearing their differences.

Soon, Sujoy asked her to be a part of his Big B flick, to be directed by Ribhu Dasgupta. Vidya heard out her role and said 'yes'.

Not over yet. Sujoy went on to tell Vidya that she should return to Durga Rani Singh. Vidya, whose health is absolutely fine now, nodded and smiled.

The director and the actress walked out of the cafe together. Toh yeh thi, kahaani coffee ki.

Cut to the present. Obviously, a detailed discussion between the two on Durga Rani Singh has been parked aside for a later date. But gosh! What happens to Aishwarya Rai who recently confirmed to a section of the media that she is doing Durga Rani Singh? No prizes for guessing that Sujoy had approached a lot of actresses after Vidya said 'No'- Kareena Kapoor, Kangana Ranaut and Aishwarya, to name a few.
