Hi guys
Original Title of the post: Its not about the track / actors. Its much bigger than that, and we're failing at it!

The original title seems to be too drastic, I know. But considering the overall sentiment in the forum, I guess this is needed.

Amidst the current negativity and the protests and the mud-slinging from all sides on all sides, let me put across what this post is not.

This post is NOT to bash any actor / creative on a personal level.
This post is NOT to whine about the characters being butchered.

I know, we're all super pissed off with whats been happening in YHM these days, with the presence of one characters taking dominance, with our favorite characters on whose shoulders the story resides being butchered mercilessly. And this is an under-statement. We all feel pathetic on giving so much time of our life to see what we're being served today.

I get it, I totally get it, and I feel the same.

However, and its a bold HOWEVER, there's a bigger picture out there, that we were supposed to be protesting against. The real-life problems of infertility, the truth behind actual medial treatments, the struggles of women who cannot conceive a child of their own, the relationship between a husband and wife and the meaning of trust between them, the dignity of a woman - her choices and her decisions. This is all we were supposed to fight against primarily, at least that is what I thought. And we deviated from this. Turned the online campaign into spewing venom on people's personal lives. I know that they retorted, I know that they sent insults flying back, and I know things got escalated beyond all of our control.

And this, personal life bashing and track bashing, has taken a toll on the social responsibility that we've been trying for the PH and Channel to bear.

I haven't participated on the twitter trends, but being in India, I was busy in trying to get contacts with NGOs who support women, and I managed to get a close contact with one through a friend. I cannot disclose the name of NGO or my friend for obvious reasons. They seemed interested to have a look at the campaign, seemed impressed by the snarky posters, and understood what issues are being mocked at.

And then they went online and checked the hashtag #RIPYHM, and it seemed most of it was for protesting against Shagun and her involvement in the story, for butchering of Raman's character and his redemption, with tid-bits of the societal reasons thrown in here and there.

It looked like a campaign by hurt fans to request the makers to change the storyline because they didn't like it. IT DID NOT LOOK LIKE A CAMPAIGN RAISING VOICE AGAINST THE MOCKERY OF INFERTILITY, SURROGACY AND A WOMAN'S RIGHTS. And so the NGO not only refused to endorse this, but laid out a clear picture that no social organization will support as it hardly looks like a social movement, and no tweets to brands / sponsors will have any effect whatsoever.

I understand our protest is against 2 agendas, but he 2nd one holds no value in real world because ultimately its just a show and we're fans calling a character out. Its the first one, the insensitivity of the makers towards such sensitive issues, that tears at my heart, and that ought to have been tackled. Sadly, too many emotions seem to have spoiled the cause.

I'm not up for bashers, so please do not attack this post. I'm ok if you have differing opinions, in fact I'm glad if you do, but please express it in a polite manner. And please, no bashing AH / SS or anyone else for that matter. Too much of hatred around already.

That's it!

Thank You So much for this post. 👏

While I personally have no issues with people going n criticizing actors on Social media for their role in a serial, but unfortunately it will not help much.

If somebody is accused of Nepotism in a company it does not affect me as a person socially, it affects the other people working in that particular company.

Even if the makers tomorrow accept that they are doing Nepotism, what are they going to say "Yes we are indulging in Nepotism now if u want to watch the show watch it or leave it". That is the only response they are going to have coz this is how Nepotism works.

Who earns from Negative publicity - makers and Actors who are targetted coz for them any publciity is Good publicity so fans should not feed them Negative Publicity by hounding them on Social media. I read some Media reports which stated that people are protesting because they are upset for Shagun character and not that we are upset with the content shown in the serial.

In the end the fans who were civil with the actors are also tagged as Bashers (people who actually used crass words for actors n Cvs) n called what not names in return. What did the fans get out of it, did the Cvs or Actor accept their mistakes? They never will.

The protest should be only n only for Mockery of serious issues that the channel and PH misused for their greed. Ultimately the story of the show is an insult to all those women who face infertility problems, who have faced rapes and molestation n when they see culprits going scott free and institution of marriage reduced as a Joke. We should rather pick up right battles and focus on those real issues which have emotionally affected people than getting even with a PH accused for favoring a particular actor.

I hope the NGO that u have mentioned in your post gives another chance to the protest and considers the appeal of people who are affected with mockery serious issues. I am grateful to you for taking action and contacting right people who can raise this issue with PH and Channel for women's rights.

I hope Information and broadcasting ministry takes a note of what is happening on TV and try and introduce some strict actions against the regressive approach that TV produces which affects our future generations who are consuming.

I personally dont think you guys will fail. Maybe online community might be a small or miniscule portion of overall viewership of this show. But even one voice raised against injustice will make others aware. It will take some time for TV to get out of its regressive mode, but it is almost close. 😊

Again Thankyou for this and also for raising your voices against the Social and Moral responsibilities of Channel and PH. 👏

^^ It is exactly this line of thought, which makes our campaigning shoddy, which makes it feel like coming from a bunch of whiny fans, instead of supporting social issues.

The protest was not supposed to be for tracks in a daily show. It was supposed to be for a bigger cause - mockery of issues like infertility and surrogacy, at least for me it was / is. And because we keep complaining about the tracks and characters and NOT the bigger issues, its very hard to get any external support.

Hi Nidoo first I want to congratulate you for thinking about the campaign so acutely and doing so much.. your initiative was huge really!🤗

Coming to the importance of this campaign I think we are somehow unable to convey what we are working for. I don't know what's going on in twitter as I am no more in Twitter but I have a LITTLE bit of idea! Honestly criticizing or bashing an actor or director on the personal front deliberately for the repulsive storyline is not up to any standard! May be we are mistaken being unable to pass the basis of our outrage and displeasure!! Some of us believed that Nepotism being played against the favor of the story and some did not... even if we did that should not be our concern.. our concern should be restricted to the horrible slip-ups of the writing that can cause a huge social mess as we fear!

We have every right to protest against their callous script that is breaking the basic norms of humanity and sociality that they are proudly promoting with tagline #HopeNeverDies.. and I know some from this forum are working really hard to stop their insensitivity! Hence we should be careful while passing the message we want d authority to look after! I think it will be useful if we not mention #SHAGUN or her position in the show or anything related to her while tweeting!! This can give a damn thought that we are against her and our concern is limited to ISHRA only! Which is not the fact... our protest is for a bigger and better cause... it is against their wicked definition of relationship and Trust and misconception of women right, Infertility and surrogacy and on top of it medical science they are misleading us with their script...! Hence this MOVEMENT!

I know we are hurt equally for them butchering the story and characters we loved... But at the same time they will do what they will want after all its their show their choice... so If we can think a little selflessly for the issues we are thrown at it may still make a different who knows! Otherwise I doubt anything would really help after all at d end of the day this is just a fiction!

I appreciate Nidoo's effort... and we should be happy that at least the NGO people showed their interest in checking the online campaign.. though this is not enough but this is definitely the sign ...sign of HOPE!

So can we start afresh please!! Who knows we might not be just futile at last!

Just a question that has come to my mind. Can't we show them the specific incidents that have actually been shown in the series n they take suo moto action? They don't even need the Twitter campaign! Do most NGO's have Twitter campaigns?

My daughter works with Salaam Balak and when they take action there is no Twitter campaign involved. I am sorry this statement is just a fact and not to be construed as bashing! It's a genuine question!

Again, its not about the track or TRPs. Its about ridiculing the notions of nurture vs nature, of demeaning an infertile woman. The least they can do is take responsibility and apologize, but we're not going to get any support, because all we seem to be talking about is tracks and TRPs and characters, and the actual root-cause of this heartburn gets lost in the noise.
