Here's something -K.13- came up with and I love her Idea! Some of you have already seen these edits but they have an added layer, the title sponsors of YHM. so please spread the campaign, if you want to hurt where it matters to the channel

Boycott SP Campaign - Target the Funding

Sick of SP promoting Nayi Soch and hope while simultaneously taunting infertility, surrogacy, infidelity?

Well - don't just mourn YHM, show SP that a fraction of the viewing audience is done with regressive telly soaps.

Twitter
Post one of the 3 picturesTag the appropriate business in your tweet
  1. @DaburIndia (Dabur)
  2. @Dove_IND (Dove)
  3. @PondsIndia (Ponds)
Make your tweet something like
  • "I can't believe @company supports such a dirty message. Maybe @starplus duped them with nayi soch #RIPYHM"
  • "Shouldn't @Dove_IND support women's progress & rights? Their advertisement during @starplus' #YHM proves otherwise"
Facebook
  • Find the company's main facebook page
  • Poster the picture
  • Add a short "rant" about the disgusting things you've seen on SP shows & how you can't believe that that company pays to support that.
Deleted Hotstar or unsubscribed from Star?
Take a picture of your unsubscription
Post & tag SP

Watching another show at 7:30 or 11?
Take a picture of what you are watching
Post & tag SP

Be creative - but hit where it hurts SP the most...the TRPs & money!

We don't want shows to be canceled but we want an ounce of social responsibility on the end of a leading channel.

Share this with anyone who's just tired of SP's ridiculously regressive & money minded soch. It's not just about YHM, but it's about showing the entertainment industry that viewers are changing by talking in their language, money & TRPs.It may not make a big change for YHM - but you will be putting pressure on the formerly leading channel.

That's good. Target the SPONSORS, then hopefully the outcome can be fruitful.

I have a suggestion. Different regions have different/local sponsors for YHM like North America, UK, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Srilanka etc have their own local sponsors for YHM. We can tag them in our tweets or we can mail them in case they don't have any Twitter account.

That's a good Idea..Krishy based this on the sponsors in India. If people know the local sponsors they can tag the respective sponsors.

I'll get the names of the UK sponsors for you asap.

Updated

The UK sponsors are Clearwater solicitors, Mehfil Southall , Simpsons international and HDFC home loans.

These companies are very very small companies. In fact, I've never heard of them. So its pointless adding them.

SNS has more known and bigger companies sponsoring them.

If you get me a name of your regional sponsors - I can make edits.

Also if you have ideas for slogans & other idiocracies to point out on SP's soaps - holla' at me!

(I can even make some about SNS 😆)

That's what I thought too, but YHM users alone got 88K tweets.

Club it with other shows and the bullshit they put forth and we can have a movement. Not dreaming, but yes.

You are right, but is it not better to argue the lack of social responsibility by SP instead of spending energy just trending #RIPYHM and being sad at the loss of a beloved character (which I was)? Because the old YHM will never come back, but do companies really not hold any social responsibility?

I didn't and probably won't open a twitter account to tweet, but at least this provides a small ounce of focus to those who do because it highlights the message that socially responsible content matters

Online IFers are like 0.01% of the desi TV viewing audience, and the rest are a mix of rural and urban viewers. We can't expect everyone to find outrage at the fact a woman's infertility is being thrown in her face as her husband secretly sponsors surrogacy with her eggs. Because they may not find that wrong - there are likely people who watch TV who firmly believe in patriarchal households.

An entire nation needs to evolve in their viewing habits before anything will change, and that will take ages. But from what I understand - India as a country is starting to change in perceptions of family units and morality.

And it's ironic though...in America, Dove has these fantastic commercials that empower women, and the same company in India pays to run ads during this show.

So no, a giant MNC won't respond to a few tweets, but this is a different way to approach something people are already doing.

But if someone was already using twitter or facebook as an outlet, what harm is there in highlighting the really irony of SP's slogan & their prime shows and simultaneously tagging companies associated?
