"Difficult to let it go...Breathed, Slept, woken up with the show" Richa Yamini
Glitz Vision had a chat with Richa Yamini a Creative Head of Kaisi Yeh Yaariyan. Fans asked questions to her about her vision, her creative work, and much more.
GV' Questions -
Q - How do you sketch these characters that go onto become iconic or gain so much popularity?
Richa - I think the key to writing any good character is the element of surprise. Like for Manik he was the monster who was scared of dark, for Maan he was the aggressive with a bone to pick with all women but never failed to protect Geet.
Q - What inspires you to write these characters?
Richa - I think the characters themselves inspire me to write them, I want to feel for them and fall in love with them.
Kul's Questions -
Q - Geet was the first show which introduced me to Richa Yamini -The creative behind the show, and now it is Kaisi Yeh Yaariyaan. How much your creative perspective has changed from then to now? How much have you evolved as creative from that show to this one?
Richa - Every show has its own ethos and we as creators stay in that world when we are doing that particular show and I really don't know whether we evolve or not because each world is different and a show clicking with the viewers depends on how well we understand that world and the emotions of the characters inhabiting that world, their actions and reactions. But if you specifically talk about Geet to KYY, rather than evolving I think I traveled in the opposite direction, though I had matured more I had to make my heart much younger!
Q - As you are the face behind some of the most beautiful love stories of television nowadays, why you think your creative vision always click so well with the audience?
Richa - I really feel humbled by all the compliments. You would be able to tell me that better what works for all of you but I can share what I try to do with the stories. We all crave the ideal love story, the fairytale we were told as kids. But we live in the real world and all of us are flawed and definitely fall in love with people who are flawed too. So what I try to do is make the characters flawed and the love story perfect.
Pari's Questions-
Q - When will we get to see your work next?
Richa - There are a couple of concepts that I am working on but there is no definite timeline to it. I am right now supervising a show for Doodarshan- Dil Ko Aaj Phir Jeene Ki Tammana Hai which has a very different flavor form KYY.
Q - Would you make another show with Parth and Niti as leads? Considering jodi's don't get repeated much in the television industry.
Richa - Its difficult to answer that right now, if I feel they would add to a story that I am developing then definitely but for now they are Manik-Nandini to me.
Shivani' Question -
Q - When can we see you on twitter?
Richa - People who know me know that I tech challenged I wouldn't know how to manage twitter!
Dips' Questions -
Q - When can we see your magic again? And is it possible to see you, Parth, Niti, and Vishal pairing up soon?
Richa - There are no plans as of now!
Q - Are you aware of the trending going on for past one and a half month for MaNan happy ending with your vision? If yes then what do you feel about it and can we please have it?
Richa - I came to know about it very recently as I really don't get to know much that is happening on the social media platform. I think your love for the show is overwhelming and a very big thank you for it. I have actually breathed, slept, woken up with the show for over an year now and it was very difficult for me to let it go because when you are living it then you obviously feel the vacuum but I have left it now. I think change always brings something new to the table and new things always take time to make space, but I believe season 2 will find place in your hearts, give it a chance, watch it with an open mind.
Chetana' Questions -
Q - What is that tattoo on Manik? Would you ever addressed it in the show?
Richa - It's a devil with a star, lost in a city. Yeah eventually Nandini would have asked him about it.
Q - If Abhishek had not left the show would you have hired Pandit and Soha? And if not, how would the story be different?
Richa - I am not sure whether the characters would have been completely done away with but yes the story would have definitely been different had Harshad been part of it.
Q - What is your favorite MaNan scene, and why?
Richa - It is very difficult to pick one. But I think the storeroom sequence as for the first time both of them get to see a different side of each other and that's where the love story begins.
Q - When was Manik first attracted to Nandini?
Richa - Nandini caught Manik's attention the first time she held his hand while he was throwing the egg on Navya. In Manik's head it was their first meeting and that is the reason he used the egg in his confession but the accidental kiss changed the game for him, he was actively fighting his attraction for her from then on. But the realization of attraction happened only after the Manjha sequence.
Q - If story was not rushed in August how would you have exposed Harshad and Nyonika.
Richa - The season 2 was planned even when I was doing the show it was supposed to end with Nyonika's plan to kill Nandini which would have backfired and Cabir was supposed to die in it. I have not followed the show since I have left it so would know how it finally happened.
Q - How did you finalize Parth and Niti to play MaNan?
Richa - Niti was the first casting we finalized on the show. She had come to audition and she just had the right look that we are looking for in Nandini. Parth actually is a long story. He was signed up for Fannah, doing the character which finally Ritwik did and so I knew he would be required in the story much later. We were not able to find Manik and needed to begin shoot ASAP and that was when we came up with the idea of pulling him out and testing him for Manik, we did a chemistry test for Parth and Niti and then there was no looking back.
Message for Fans -
Richa - Thank you so so much for all your appreciation, it makes my heart so full of joy and gratitude and it is all very overwhelming. I feel connected to all of you as you all loved watching the show as passionately as I have loved making it. It was very difficult for me to let go of the show and I hope all of you would support me in that and continue watching the show as there are a lot of people working very hard to make it a success.
