"Mom! Can Rachi Di, Jazz and I go out and explore Banaras? Please please please??" I asked Mom with a puppy dog face. I hope it works! I have been stuck in the house for three days now and I need to see outside! Warna I'll forget what the sky looks like.
After a slight hesitant expression Mom finally allowed us to go, "Ok Beta but zayada door mat jaana. And return home early ok?"
"Yes Ma'am! Chalo Jazz and Rachi Di. Let's get dis party started," I squealed loudly. I pulled both of them out of the house while Mom was shaking her head laughing. What can I say? I get turnt at the idea of sightseeing. After all coming from La Paris you know mon amour would be to travel and tour around. Sigh. I miss the eiffel tower! And most of all Les crepes with nutella and strawberries. Wow..my mouth is literally watering. Ok I should stop thinking about food warna yahan pe flood ajayega.
"So where should we go first Amu?" Rachi Di asked.
"Hmm...Let's take the boat ride first near the mandir. That way we can get a good overview of Banaras city. Capiche?" It's been a while since I have ridden a boat. Well if you count riding through the canals of France boat riding. I mean that would be a pure insult, they are meant for the "elite" as people like to say. And occasionally for couples in love.
We reached the Ganga ghat and boarded the small boat that was about to start it's ride. There were a lot of tourists on the boat and some local workers as well. I guess they used this boat as a means of travel to go to work as well. Huh. Interesting.
The weather was quite nice. Not too hot not too chilly. Just a mild breeze. I closed my eyes for a second to feel the wind touch my face. Uhu. Uhu This is what you call true nature. C'est trs calm

What the heck? I opened my eyes and found I was drenched with water from head to toe. Gawdd! My clothes! Haw...and my favorite shoes! They were gucci! Who the ef did this?
I looked up to find a boy with strong build and broad shoulders, silly hair, innocent eyes with a water bottle in hand standing in front of me.
"What the heck? Don't you have any manners? You spoiled my clothes!!" I was so pissed. I hate when people mess with my clothes.
"I-I am sorry! Vo galti se..."
"Sorry? Seriously! You destroyed my favorite shoes! Do you know how long I have been waiting to wear these? They are gucci! But then again how would you know?" I scowled and fervently started cleaning the water on my clothes.
"Oh Hello Madame! Sirf pani hai koi pahad nahi toot pada! And aisi joote toh 200 rupe mein Ganga Ghat mein milti hai! Toh Naye kharid lene. Itni overeact karne ki zarrorat nahi hai!" He spoke with a strong confidence. Gawd! Talk about being rude.
"Excuse me? Inhe 200 rupees ke joote bol kar inke insult mat karo alright? Maladroit!" I muttered out loud.
"Huh? What was that?" He asked. The three tourists behind him giggled among themselves. They were probably french and they knew the word meant clumsy. Of course this little giggling session didn't go unnoticed by our clumsy boy! He glanced behind him with a confused expression and turned around to ask me, "Why are they laughing? Did you call me something funny?"
Huh! It serves you right. I swallowed the smile I was about to put on and decided to play along.
"I may have..." I said while walking away to the other end of the boat and still wiping my clothes. Jazz and Rachi Di just shook their head and turned the other way to enjoy the view. Its time for some fun! Lego!
"What did you call me?" He said following me with a persistent tone. Ohh! He sounded very serious. Two can play this game.
"Maladroit with a capital M!" I barked in his face.
"Mala and droyet? What?! Why are you calling me Mala? I am a man and my name is Mantu! Not Mala. And what does doryet even mean?!" He spoke with weird expressions on his face. Ah that moment when people pronounce french words as if they were Marry Popins.
"Ok then..Mannntuuu! I'll just call you Mantudroit alright? In short MD? How does it sound?" I said smiling victoriously. I am killing dis right now.
"Not alright! I am only Mantu and I like my name the way it is. And if you don't wanna tell me the meaning of...what was it...Mala-droyet?! Then fine, what do I care anyway!" saying he this he turned around to leave but of course you know I gotta have the last say!
"It means clumsy!" I barked out loud. That made him stop and he turned around again. "What?"
"Are you deaf? You have said what' like..." I counted on my fingers,"four times already. Are you a diplomat cause you ask a lot of questions my friend!"
"No! I am not deaf and I am definitely not a diplomat. I am Mantu the Tour guide. And I am not clumsy. I just tripped on a lose floor board, that's it!" he said with that same confidence again. He was definitely a maladroit.
"Ok then Mantu the Tour Guide, since your accepting your mistake you can now apologize for it too," I said looking him straight in the eyes.
"But I already did!"
"Yeah but there is a difference between saying sorry on reflex and actually meaning it!" I said folding my arms and leaning against the end of the boat.
He closed his eyes for a moment to probably calm himself. But I could still see the anger in his eyes when he opened them. For a moment I though he wouldn't budge but then his features relaxed.
"Look..I..I am truly sorry for splashing water on you like that. If your shoes really did get ruined I'll pay up for them. It was a genuine mistake. I am really very sorry," wow he left me kinds speechless. He did seem to be genuinely sorry.
"Um...it's..it's ok. You don't have to do anything of such sort. I'll manage. Bye!" saying that i hurried off to where Rachi Di and Jazz were standing.
Just out of curiousness I glanced back to see Mantu the Tour Guide still standing where I left him and was that I smile on his face. And he was looking in my direction! Oh Mon Dieu! I looked away too quickly and bumped my head with Rachi Di!
"Ow! Amu..Ye kar rahi ho?!" Rachi Di said rubbing her forehead.
"I am sorry Rachi Di!" I said rubbing my own forehead.
