Aamir Khan's Peepli Live director charged with rape and destruction of evidence!

Additional Sessions Judge Sanjiv Jain has posted the matter for September 9 when the trial will commence.

Rape charges was framed against Bollywood movie Peepli Live director Mahmood Farooqui. He was accused of sexually assaulting an American woman.In July, Delhi Police had accused Farooqui under sections dealing with rape and destruction of evidence for allegedly raping the 35-year-old American woman. The victim, was pursuing PhD from Columbia University, and was in India for research work.

Additional Sessions Judge Sanjiv Jain has posted the matter for September 9 when the trial will commence. The court will record the statement of the complainant on September 14 and, therefore, it kept Farooqui's bail plea pending till then. Farooqui is in judicial custody since June 20.

Mahmood Farooqui who co-directed Peepli Live along with Anusha Rizvi (billed as the main director), had also acted in a indie flick calledMango Souffle. Peepli Live was produced byAamir Khan and Kiran Rao, and starred Raghubir Yadav and Nawazuddin Siddiqui.
