I don't have words enough to apologise for my prolonged silence here. It was partly due to my AD, partly due to my procrastination. For that, I'm really sorry. Anyway, I have finally managed to catch up with all the updates. Just in time for the next update. Phew! 😆

So much has happened... it's rather difficult to pen down my thoughts about all the happenings, so many chapters in one post, but here's my attempt, anyway.

Sofia Airo Raizada

I love her. She is so gentle, loving and brave. She was a wonderful mother not only to her own children but to Khushi also. I'm so happy Khushi finally found the unconditional love that she wasn't privy to in her childhood. About her marriage, I can understand how sometimes when people get too involved in their routines and kids; they become too complacent, and the relationship with their spouse is taken for granted. That is perhaps what happened with her. In spite of the problems, she stood strong, brought up the kids so well. I can also understand how she may have blamed Avinash for abandoning them, breaking up their family. Even if it was years later, she did accept that she had some part in their marriage becoming so dysfunctional. Owning up to that also takes courage, I guess. Moreover, she sensed that her son's marriage might be at a critical juncture and that he needed to face his past, confront his emotions and give them an outlet in order for him to find peace and so that his marriage wouldn't have the same fate as hers.

Anjali

She's really sweet and so caring, just like her mother, I suppose. Her love for her bhai-bhabhi is so evident.

When her father left, she was a child and having never fully comprehended the gravity of the consequences of Avinaash's indiscretion or abandonment, her willingness to embrace him in her life is understandable. When she eventually found out the reasons, she was angry with him, too. But, her nature is too much like Sofia's, I guess...forgiving and compassionate. And she understood what her Mom said about life being too short. She moved on, in a way that Arnav was never able to. I get her insistence to fulfil her mother's final wish, hoping that her brother finds some closure and her second set of parents don't end up as her own.

Avinash Raizada

I don't particularly care for him. I understand his plight, but what he did was cowardly. He abandoned his family, ended his marriage through a letter, didn't even face them and explain his situation or ask for their forgiveness. Whatever the reasons for the dysfunctional marriage, he could have worked it out or at least ended it more gracefully keeping in mind the consequences and effect of this on the young minds of his children. He realised it too late. Some burdens one has to carry forever, I guess. I can see some similarities between him and Arnav, in the way that both keep their problems inside, don't communicate their feelings with their spouses et al. But like Arnav so eloquently put it, he, unlike his father, will fight for his love and do what it takes to fix his marriage. And, he has displayed that tenacity since the beginning, over and over again...refusing to let go of Khushi and their marriage, urging her to give themselves another chance. That makes all the difference.

Khushi's family

I was quite shocked to see the dynamics of the Gupta family. They seem to have been negligent and emotionally distant with Khushi, all her life, with the exception of Dadi perhaps and to some extent, her Dad. It's good to see her father making some attempts to mend the relationships with her. Better late, than never. (The conversation between Arnav and Harshad was great and much needed.)

Payal makes me want to break something, frankly. She is jealous, arrogant, self-centred and insensitive. Moreover, her actions and behaviour is spurred on, directly or indirectly, by their parents especially their mother. I'm happy Khushi finally stood up to her and stood up for herself and Arnav. It was high time Payal was reminded of her manners and limits.

More than angry, I'm sad that Khushi had to grow up with this negativity and prejudice. On the other hand, I'm proud that, that has not made her bitter, resentful or aloof; she turned out to be the wonderful, kind, loving person she is, in spite of all this. I love her a little more for that. And, I'm so glad she found love and belongingness with Arnav, Sofia, Anjali and even Lavanya and Aman. Family is not about sharing blood but about being there through thick and thin, showing unconditional love and support.

I also like Kabir's character. He's sweet and charming and a great friend to Khushi. It's sad that his first love was unrequited. Hope he finds someone who's truly made for him.

Arnav-Khushi

I see so much progress in their relationship since they opened up to each other and started communicating. It's good to see the intimacy back in their marriage, not just physical but emotional too.

I'm glad that the confrontation with Avinash is done and over with. Whether or not, he talks to him again or forgives him doesn't really matter at the moment. I just hope Arnav finds some closure and peace.

The conversation at the grave was such a crucial one. Arnav finally letting out his grief, his pain, his innermost fears and turmoil for Khushi to see. That dream of a crying pari, it's so heart breaking and poignant. I'm sure there must have been several interpretations of the dream, possibly you gave an explanation too. I just haven't gone through the comments in a long, long time. But I suppose, the dream is a projection of his pain and helplessness at seeing everything in his life falling apart. Losing his mother, his daughter, the anger at his father, his dysfunctional marriage..everything is eating him up from within. In a more poetic sense, maybe Pari is crying because she's unhappy, to see her parents in so much pain, to see them so broken. Maybe once they become a whole again, their happiness will reach her and she will smile.

I'm sure all that I have said has been said by others, more eloquently at that. I've probably missed plenty of details. But I've tried to cover whatever stood out to me. I'm loving how this story is progressing. Some really wonderful writing, Jigs! 👏 It's amazing how you make time for us in spite of your busy AD. I hope to take some inspiration from you and be more regular around here. 😳 Ciao! :)

Main yahan, hoon yahan, hoon yahan, hoon yahan...

*********

After the confrontations of last chapter and the hurt that stemmed from them- this one was a step towards healing those wounds. Khushi was hurt deeply by those that should have loved her unconditionally. And although the ones who inflicted the wounds have not redeemed themselves, this chapter brought together those that will help her heal. Khushi may not have a loving sister or a mother that fulfills her role, but she does have a beautiful group of people who do love her unconditionally- and even when there are kinks in those relationships, they work them out. You can't pick your family, but you can pick people who act as one- and this chapter showcased that. With Lavanya, Aman, Kabir, Dadi, and Arnav, Khushi has people who will be there for her, even in the absence of those who should have been there.

That's evident throughout the chapter- whether it's Arnav's apology, or him sitting down beside her at the puja because he knows she needs his companionship at that moment, or Lavanya and Aman asking whether she's okay, Arnav coming up to her and asking if someone said something to her that took the smile off of her face, or Dadi applying mehendi- everything in this chapter spoke of support and love. Their support is her strength- and you highlighted that beautifully. No matter what Payal says, nothing can take this love away from her.

I absolutely loved the first scene. It was what an apology should be- a mending of fences without the grudges. There was such tenderness, weaved together with passion- the moment when Arnav put the sindoor for her, and she said "Yours"... there was something that warmed me through with that moment. It was very, very poignant- and it just stuck with me.

You also handled the conversation between Khushi and Kabir beautifully. There was just enough there- and you drew me to understanding why adoption, IVF, and other forms of having a child are options, but at the moment... it's about their marriage. They need to have a solid marriage to have a loving, caring home for their children. I absolutely loved how you brought that in there.

I couldn't stop laughing during the text messages 😆 "She needs to get laid" and the waiter and their nicknames, it was all so well done. I absolutely loved it- I had such a smile on my face, and this chapter left me with a smile at the end. The contrast between them and Payal is so, so evident- and I love seeing that juxtaposition. Even with the ache that comes from Khushi's reflection of herself and what has happened, I have no doubt that she can get through it with these wonderful people by her side.

Love always,
Choti.
