Chapter 16

Randhir and karan came back to their table.

"So randhir how is life going?", vardhan raised the topic intentionally. He knew that there will be sanyukta related to everything he will say.

Randhir didn't answer. He knew vardhan took this topic intentionally.

"Leave it sir. Let's talk about something else", Vidushi interrupted to save randhir.

Randhir smiled at Vidushi. She was a true savior at times.

"Sir what about the project? Is it finalized?", Parth asked diverting the topic.

"Haan. Everything is final. We will start the project after 2 weeks. Main legal documents kal office bhejwa dunga. Check it and sign it", vardhan said.

"Okay sir", randhir said smiling.

"Sir ek baat pucho?", randhir asked.

Vardhan signaled him to continue.

Sir hamne college days mein Niharika ma'am ko kitna dunda tha but woh hamein kahi nahi mili. How did you found her?", randhir asked curiously.

"Niharika mujhe 8 saal pehle mili, Singapore mein. She was working in a hospital as the senior doctor. Wahi par mile teh hum", vardhan told him.

"But sir aap Singapore kyu gaye?", Vidushi asked confused.

Niharika all the while was silently observation each and every one. She knew one more question and the entire secret will be revealed.

"actually main...", vardhan started but was cut off by Niharika.

"Actually vardhan apne project ke kaam se Singapore aaya tha aur wahi par uska ek chota sa accident ho gaya tha jiski wajah se usse hospitalize karna para. Wahi par we meet each other", Niharika told them a fake story.

She knew that if she wouldn't have told them this story then vardhan would have definitely told them the truth.

"whatsoever may be reason sir, I am happy that you both are together", randhir said smiling.

"ya aur main bhi khush ki aap itna badal gaye hain. Zarror Niharika ma'am ke pyaar ne apko badal diya hoga', Vidushi said teasingly.

"pyaar toh hain but Niharika ka nahi balki meri beti ka", vardhan said smiling.

beti??', Vidushi asked confused.

"haan meri beti ...", and vardhan couldn't complete as the waiter interrupted.

Before he could continue the food was served and everyone got busy in dinner.

After 10 pm

"Thank you randhir for calling us on dinner. Parth and Vidushi stay blessed. Thank you everyone and all of the above chota chetan", vardhan said and both of them hi-fived.

"Okay sir, ma'am we'll take a leave now. It was a pleasure having a dinner with you both", Parth said.

"bye Dadu. Bye ma'am", karan said smiling.

"bye chotu", vardhan said smiling and both Vardhika left.

At Suryavanshi Mansion

"Arre dhere nona", sanyukta said while running behind nona.

"Arre meri beti ko kyu thaka rahi ho", vardhan said entering the house.

"Dadu", nona said smiling and went to vardhan.

Vardhan lifted her in his arms and kissed her cheek.

"kaisa hai mera bacha?", vardhan asked her.

"bahut sad. Aaj hum bahar dinner karne gaye teh but dad ki tabyat karab ho gayi aur hum wapas aa gaye!", nona said disappointed.

That's the reason I couldn't find them in the restaurant, vardhan registered mentally.

"Dhruv.. kya hua usse?", Niharika asked panicked.

"kuch nahi aayi bass thoda headache. Maine medicines de di hai, abhi woh rest kar raha hai", sanyukta said assuring.

"main dekh kar aati hoon", Niharika said and went to see Dhruv.

She opened the door only to find him pacing in the room form one corner to the other.

"Dhruv tum ghoom kyu rahe ho tumhe rest karna chahiye", Niharika told him.

"mujhe kuch nahi hua lekin yeh bateye aap ko kya hua hai. Aap randhir ke ghar gaye teh dinner ke liye toh waha restaurant mein kaisi aa gaye?', Dhruv asked her.

"tum pata tha?", Niharika asked him shockingly.

"haan woh nona ne Randhir ko dekha toh maine sar dard ka bahana kara aur wapas aa gaya", Dhruv told her.

"maine yeh batane ke liye tumhe kitni baar call kiya tha lekin tumne phone nahi uthaya", Niharika told him.

"woh main apna phone ghar par bhool gaya tha", Dhruv justified her.

"vardhan ko mana kiya tha maine lekin woh sunta kaha hain meri", Niharika said saddened.

"agar aaj randhir aur sanyukta mil jate toh pata nahi kya hota", Dhruv said distressed thinking of the day when randhir and sanyukta will really meet.

"bass bhagwan kabhi essa na kare", Niharika prayed but less she knew that god had other plans. "abhi niche chalte hain."

Both of them came down.

Shekhawat mansion

"aaj kitna maja aaya na", karan said smiling.

"haan. Aur vardhan sir mein change dekh kar bahut khushi hui", Vidushi said smiling.

"yes. Vardhan sir has changed so much", Parth said smiling.

But I am happy that he has changed for good", randhir added another praise to vardhan praising list.

"baba apke liye apke school se", watchman said handing a letter to karan.

Karan opened it and read it. while reading his expression changed from frowned to happy.

"yepiiieee", karan said jumping.

"kya hua champ?", randhir asked him.

"maine apko bataya tha na ki ek competition hai jiski liye maine apply kara tha...guess what?", karan said smilingly.

"kya?", Vidushi asked like a dumb.

"I got selected. Main iss competition ke liye select ho gaya aur I have to reach there by Sunday", karan said excitedly.

"congratulation karan. Mujhe toh pehle hi pata tha ki tu hi select hoga", Vidushi said as if she knew it before.🤣🤣🤣

"very nice champ. I am proud of you", Parth appreciated him.

Both Vidushi and Parth praised him but karan was waiting for someone else's appreciation.

"dad...aap kuch nahi bologe?", karan asked sadly.

Randhir wasn't happy.

"dad I know you are happy that I got selected but at the same time you are sad too because I will have to stay away from you", karan said reading randhir mind. "if you want I will not go for it."

Randhir smiled sadly. He knew karan can do anything for his dad's happiness and this was a small competition he can easily give away for it.

Randhir sat down to match Karan's height and holded him.

"never do that champ", randhir said smiling. "I know you have worked hard for this competition and I will never stop you from participating in it. I was sad because I will have to stay away from you for a whole week."

Randhir told him his feelings. The old randhir never expressed his feelings in fear of losing someone special but this randhir didn't feared as he had nothing to lose.

"don't worry dad I will talk to you daily aur waise bhi aap mere sath hoge hi. Yaha par", karan signaled him pointing him towards his heart.

Randhir smiled and hugged him. His eyes filled with tears seeing the love and care which he always craved for.

"acha hum chalte hai randhir. kal milte hai. Good night. Good night champ", Vidushi said.

"good night bui. Good night candyfloss", karan said teasing Parth.

"good night Bandar", Parth too teased him.

Vidarth went away and randhir took karan to his room. Randhir made him stood on the bed and took out his night dress for him.

"acha champ competition kaha hai?", randhir asked him.

"Roorkee mein. Pura address diya hain ma'am ne uss letter mein", karan teased him. He knew randhir would take each detail before sending him away.

"acha I will see. Abhi you go and sleep. Good night", randhir said and kissed him.

"good night daddy", karan said smiling and went to sleep.

Randhir picked up the letter, switched off the lights and went to his room after giving a final look to karan.

Randhir changed himself into his pajamas without a vest. He took the letter and went to the terrace.

He opened the letter and started to read it. one caught his attention was the address.

"78C, Suryavanshi house, Roorkee", randhir read it once again. "matlab vardhan sir is conducting the competition."

His thoughts diverted to the day when vardhan sir gave his house to him and sanyukta to stay when she ran away from her house during her engagement.
