I was really shocked to read this news on Saturday , it seems to indicate that the "fake suicide" drama episode on Friday inspired a copycat effort by a disturbed young woman whioh sadly took her life. If this poor young woman was depressed enough to commit suicide there would have been other triggers and reasons no doubt but... this close linkage is very disturbing. For Gods sake CVs wake up, and realise that what you are showing is not just meaningless masala and the famous "twists and turns" you love to boast about. You may have a suicide now linked to your serial, do you really want young women drugging & trying to kill their love rivals as well as all the other immoral trash you're trying to sell to the public as entertainment? After all, when girls (mainly) grow up seeing this stuff from a young age, what is going to be the effect on their young unformed minds? or perhaps that you can do absolutely anything and then repent and be forgiven and carry on being the lead character of a serial? Quote KANPUR: Aping a suicide scene from a television serial, a 22-year-old married woman allegedly killed herself here on Saturday.

Ruchi, a native of Krishna nagar in Chakeri police area hanged self to death inside her house, after watching a suicide scene in popular television serial.

The shocking incident took place while her husband and in-laws were busy in household chores.

"Her husband Rishiraj and other family members had rebuked her on late Friday night while she was watching a suicide scene in the popular TV serial in the house. Early on Saturday morning, Ruchi had her breakfast and went inside her room. She apparently committed suicide after tying a saree around her neck after fixing it with the ceiling," SHO
Chakeri said.

After coming across commotion, the family members rushed towards Ruchi's room, but to their shock, they found her hanging from the ceiling. They immediately informed the neighbours who subsequently rang the police.

"We rushed to the spot and brought her down. She was rushed to a local hospital, where she was declared brought dead. The body has been sent for post mortem," the police added.

The family members further told the investigating officials that the woman was reportedly suffering from depression for quite some time and was undergoing treatment for the same. Besides, they also told investigators that Ruchi was
very much inspired by a particular character of a popular television serial and used to watch and discuss a lot about the artsist with her family members.

OH GOD.. may her soul rest in peace..

People should watch Fictional shows only if they understand the difference between Fictional and Reality.

Someone I know has experienced it.. She was depression patient.. but precautions were taken .. TV was banned in home. And now she is out from depression living happy life.

As article says family members knowing about her mental condition should not hv allowed her to watch TV

This is depressing to hear about.. RIP.
As said above, if her family knew about her depression, they should have been more careful with her.

Very sad news. I hope its not because of this show.

Indian dramas are not for mentally unstable and disturbed people in the first place. But the makers or whoever censors tv shows need to keep an eye on whats being shown and whether its appropriate for certain kind of audience.

Just like the disclaimer message that you get in the beginning of movies that smoking is injurious to your health they should have the same message for drugs, suicide, witchcraft etc that they as makers of the show dont encourage anybody to do it.

PS: Can somebody bring this to the attention of actors, producer or writers of swaragini.

@Vishi, thats very true, in such a dangerous condition almost anything can be a stimulus. I'm no expert but if someone is determined to commit suicide they will find a way. They need treatmenet medication and a LOT of support and protection. God rest her soul and grant her peace. We dont know the details, there may well be other factors, problems with the husband or in-laws or anything really. but actually could anyone forcibly prevent the poor girl from watching television permanently? That may well be her only entertainment and pleasure in life.As the article says the family "told investigators that Ruchi was very much inspired by a particular character of a popular television serial and used to watch and discuss a lot about the artsist with her family members."
My purpose was to flag up the dangers of some things the CVs show so casually. Not just this show but almost all. Of course TV cannot be just puppies & kittens playing on the grass for ever and ever. We would be bored to tears! there has to be suspense, a story, some conflict and trials. But i do think there should be a greater sense of responsibility.
