I like it how Amaya stood up to GC and did not give into his ridiculousness. The fact that she did it so in a manner that did not seem disrespectful or hurtful just shows much progress and maturity the character of Amaya has gained. She had very reasonable, solid comebacks for each of GC's ridiculous arguments, including and especially the one where he says I am here to take care of you and she says along the lines of you won't always be around. Take the hint GC.. 😉 And to Amaya! You go girl!!

I was thoroughly disappointed though that Sneha was simply a mute spectator and did not say a word in defense of her daughters. Especially the dialogues regarding helping Rishi and taking responsibility, I think should have been delivered by Sneha. Since Rachita's job was also on the line, I am also surprised how she did not say a word. I wish she'd spoken up too. She is the eldest too. I am not liking her being so unsure and meek and subservient around GC. Rachita needs to learn to speak up too.

What was also disappointing is that despite the fact that Amaya made perfectly sensible arguments, it did not penetrate through GC's thick skull and I bet in his head he was thinking, this is all because Sneha have the girls too much freedom. I know for a fact that GC will not let this go all that easily. I am also afraid that the day he finds out Amaya works for Dev, he'll unleash his wrath on her and we'll be subject to lots more of his archaic, boring lectures. I found it particularly offensive the way he responded when Amaya said, how can I quit my job? I just got a promotion! GC replies by sayin, so what? Everyone applauded you for it, didn't they? That's more than enough. You wanted to prove your point and you did. Now just quit your job. As if being independent and working your way to success is just to get applause from people. Almost like all of this was a nautanki.

Rudra Bhaiyya seemed to really enjoying this exchange between Amaya and GC. Was it because he saw it as the start of problems in the family? An opportunity to distance the Chaubeys and Mathurs once again? Or was he actually cheering Amaya on? Kya baath hai Rudra Bhaiyya? Chal kya raha hai?

Chiklu brings chocolates for Uma and says the house feels weird without her and asks her to get well soon. Why can't Uma see that she has such an important place as a friend and family member in Mantu's and Chiklu's life? Her greed and selfishness is going to destroy that too. Mantu bechara is pining away for Amaya and Uma makes her move and tries to tell him that Amaya is a foreign return city girl, how could she ever fall in love with someone like you? It may have caused a dama-dol in Mantu's belief for a fraction of a second but then he vehemently rejects it and says that Amaya has changed and he has seen love for him in her eyes and that he don't want to listen to Uma's nonsense and will listen only to his heart. Way to go Mantu! Just hold tight onto your faith! You are going to need to handle all the vamps and villains sprouting like mushrooms in the rain in your path towards Amaya.

But of course, Uma isn't done spitting her venom yet. In the guise of being his friend and guide, she makes him promise he'll do whatever she says and asks him not to confess his love to Amaya but to wait till she tells him that she loves him. Mantu, in his confused, emotionally vulnerable state of mind, falls right into her trap and promises that he'll do as Uma says. Poor boy! He is in for such a major heartbreak when he finds out the girl who he considers his family, his true friend was stabbing him from the back so ruthlessly.

And we see the transformation of Uma into a complete vamp. It's no longer even about trying to get Mantu to see or understand her love.. Now it's all about keep Mantu and Amaya away from each other. *sigh* I just feel so awful that she's played such a master stroke. I just hope hope hope that they don't stretch this whole oath thing till the end of time and somehow, Mantu and Amaya confess their love. This would become such an Ekta Maiyya-ish show otherwise 😔

Of course, the disputes in the house are not due to your unwillingness to let go of your chauvanistic and archaic attitudes Chaubeyji! It's because you broke the damn wall and now there's Vaastu dosha! Is there a pooja to help a hard headed chauvanistic man get some brains? I'll gladly sponsor it for you Chaubeyji! And of course, perfect opportunity for him to ask the girls to take a holiday from work. I wouldn't be surprised if he dictated the girls what to wear to the pooja and said something along the lines of "Chaubey khandaan ki bahu-betiyaan hamesha Saj-dhajke rehti hain" and ordered them to wear dus tole ka haar or something. But sadly, this is still the mentality in a vast majority of Indian homes and the show is being realistic in it's portrayal of the situation.

Uma madam wants to do a pooja too. And pooja shopping cannot be done without clinging onto Mantu's arm. Chaubeyji drags Amaya along to pooja shopping.. Why? Because he wants the girls of his house to know about traditions and customs. Because his other granddaughter, Neeti, can arrange for and do the Durga pooja all by herself. I mentioned in my review yesterday that GC needs to be taught a lesson. Me thinks the perfect lesson would be if his Adarsh grand daughter Neeti ran away with someone GC totally disapproves of. But then, Sneha running away did no good to him. I wonder how many Chaubey female would have to run away so GC finally mends his ways?

Million dollar question of the day: How many Chaubey women need to run away so that Gajanand Chaubey gets an iota of sense?

And Uma madam is not done spewing her venom yet. She reminds Mantu of his promise not to confess and though they made it seem like Amaya heard the conversation, I am sure she did not. And of course, Mantu walking towards Amaya isn't going to go anywhere either. Amaya, please! Just stop mopping around already and do something! You never know when the audience will lose patience because we, unfortunately aren't soap queens who believe in eternal sacrifice and patience.

Scene & dialogue of the day - Amaya giving it back to GC. Total whistle bajao, thaali maaro scene!

Character of the day - of course Amaya!

Nautanki of the day - Uma madam. For faking concern and friendship towards Mantu when she is planning to stab him in the back

Hasi ki dukaan - Chiklu. Just because we got to see him on screen today.

Disappointment of the day - Sneha's silence throughout Amaya and GC's exchange.

But kudos to all the Chaubey-Mathur women for letting GC know through their silence that they were in support of Amaya. Hawa badal rahi hai Chaubeyji. Kahin aapke bache kuche baal ke saath saath aapka ahankaar bhi na uda le jaaye.

Agree with each an every point of yours Neet :)
It is amazing how your review makes the episode sound not as bad as it was :)

I am really proud of Amaya for standing up to GC, but equally disappointed at Sneha and Rachita for not supporting Amaya when she needed them. I cannot believe how thick-skinned this GC is. Either he cannot understand or he ignores everything that he can see.

I also think that Neeti's betrayal to GC' sanskaars would knock some sense into his numb brain, but if he didn't understand a word of what Amaya was trying to explain to him, then the chances of that are quite slim. Honestly his ego needs to be shattered and I am waiting for that day when he realizes that his holier than thou attitude was all an attempt to hide his weak character and principles. He needs to realize that his age hasn't done him any good in terms of wisdom. He sadly hasn't learnt anything from his experiences.

I am not sure what to think of Uma, she doesn't realize that her actions now will take away the last of what she has left in her life. When Mantu finds out that she was nothing, but a backstabbing, selfish, obsessive liar who tried to separate him from his Amaya he will forget everything that she ever meant to him and will throw her out of his life forever. That day Uma will lose something greater than what she is trying to snatch from Amaya, her best friend and her only family.

Great post!

I also loved how Amaya stood up for herself and Rachita, it was such a 'you go girlfriend' moment 🥱 I found it odd that, although Rachita is the eldest, it was Amaya who ultimately piped up and challenged the bigoted chauvinistic Chaubey (his comments were really grinding my gears!).

I found GC's reaction excruciatingly annoying because you can somehow tell that what Amaya was saying just wasn't registering in GC's mind - he has let the matter go on this occasion but this subject will definitely pop back up some time in the future, alongside other matters which do not befit a woman, in GC's old-fashioned frame of mind. I'm 99% positive that he will try and further mould the Mathurs into what he conceptualises as "cultured" women.

And lastly, I too believe that his beloved Neeti may play a part in changing his antiquated mentality, we will just have to wait and see!
