Chapter 5
"The single biggest problem in communication is the illusion that it has taken place..."
Three days, 19 hours, 6 minutes, 53 seconds and still counting.
Abeer kept staring at the light brown coloured wall in front of him. Meher didn't call him once and see her audacity, she didn't even join them on this freaking family trip. He really wanted meher to be there with him... She is family for god's sake.
Abeer's mother felt quite guilty every time she looked at abeer. He was undoubtedly there with them physically but not mentally. All of his attention and concentration was on meher. He would every minute check his mobile but not to get disappointed.
"Call her for once abeer..." suggested his mother.
"She should realise that its not always about her... we will be her family after sometime... And she has to think about us... we are longer dating like college students." replied abeer.
"Don't let your ego come in your relationship abeer... It doesn't work out like this..."
"She is bringing her ego mom... Meher is wrong this time..."
Abeer's mother tried knocking some sense into abeer but it was futile. So she decided to go to shasha's room; abeer's childhood friend and the daughter of their family friends.
"Go and talk to him shasha... I think he will talk to you... You can understand his point, you are of the same age..."
"Sure aunty... Don't worry..."
"Whats up devdas...???" asked shasha and jumped on the bed.
"Nothing... just don't irritate me..."
"You are irritating everyone out there abeera..."
"Shasha how can she do this to me yaar... It's unfair..."
"What are you..?? Her husband...??" asked shasha.
"Excuse me... What do you mean...??" Abeer asked confusedly.
"Let her be.. She will come back to you... Show her you can enjoy without her... Let's have fun dude... Remember family time..."
"So.. You mean I should ignore her... She will running back to me... Right...?? Plus I shouldn't force my decisions on her..." said abeer.
"Bingo..."
Back there in Mumbai, meher returned home from office and without eating or drinking anything, went to her room. She threw her bag away and called abeer. She really missed him and these four days have already been like hell for her. She realised she shouldn't have ran from his house that day... She should have tried to understand him and his wish of spending some alone time with her.
"Pick up the call abeer..." whispered meher.
She tried calling him again and again but she got the same response every time. That night meher cried herself to sleep.
After partying hard and being wasted in the resort's bar, abeer returned to his room and within a minute, he passed out. Next morning... No afternoon, he woke up with a hammering headache.
"Hangover... Someone hang me over..." Abeer hissed in pain.
"Dare someone..."
Abeer looked up and shaking his head, again closed his eyes.
"Limewater..."
"Go away..." Abeer said without opening his eyes.
"Abeeerr..."
His name being called in such an irritating yet cute and adorable tone... He can't imagine that... Its impossible, he have tried imagining this a lot many times before also.
Abeer looked up and asked "Are you for real...???"
"Yes..."
"Ohh God meher... I missed you soon much..." Abeer ran to meher and picked her in his arms.
"I missed you more... I am sorry..." confessed meher.
Abeer put meher on the floor but didn't remove his arms from around her.
"I'm sorry too..." he said resting his forehead against hers.
Abeer leaned forward to kiss meher when she placed her palm on his lips.
"But you didn't pick my calls yesterday..." meher complained.
"What calls...??? You never called me... Liar..."
"Check your mobile..."
Abeer hurriedly looked for his mobile and smiled sheepishly on seeing the missed calls.
"Now..??" asked meher.
"Hmm... Now as a punishment, you kiss me..." Abeer replied with a naughty smile adoring his face.
"Very smart..." commented meher placing her hands on her waist.
"Born smart..." Abeer smirked.
Meher picked up the glass of limewater from the table and went to abeer who stood near the bed.
"Have this..."
"I'm good..." Abeer smiled.
"Really..??"
"The moment I saw you... Hangover went missing Missy..." Abeer took the glass from meher and kept it on the corner table.
Meher shook her head and turned her back towards abeer. Abeer without wasting a second, wrapped his arms around meher's petite frame. He kept his chin on her shoulder blade and a giggle escaped meher's mouth.
"I love you soo much... Don't ever leave me meher..." Abeer said experiencing pure bliss on having meher in his arms after days.
"Same goes for you... I love you to the moon and back" replied meher.
After freshening up, abeer took meher to the breakfast hall and everyone was certainly happy to see her. Whole day abeer took Meher all around the resort, to the swimming pool area, recreation room, library, music store, designer boutique, coffee shop and lastly to the disco.
After everybody had dinner and dessert, they were sitting together and talking when abeer's mother signalled abeer to come after her, when she leaves.
"Mom... What's wrong..??" asked abeer.
"Where is meher gonna stay...?? Should I tell her to share a room with shasha...??"
"No way... She can share the room with me..." Abeer suggested.
"Kuber will not like it abeer... He wouldn't allow it..."
"So don't tell dad... Meher n I will be married soon... There is nothing wrong... Please mom..."
"OK... But let him think meher is staying with shasha.."
"I love you mom..." Abeer happily hugged his mother and kissed her cheek.
"Come meher... We will have girl's time..." Shasha held meher's hand and was taking her to her room.
"Ok..." replied meher.
Abeer ran behind them and stopped the girls in their path.
"What abeer...??" Shasha asked angrily.
"Shasha darling I'm gonna borrow my girlfriend from you... She is mine tonight" replied abeer and winked at shasha.
Abeer led meher to his room... Rather their room... That's what he would like to call it.
Meher who was still blushing made her way to the window in the room. Abeer looked at meher and decided to put on some music. After putting on "their" song, he made way to meher and hugged her from back.
"Rehearsal time hun..." Abeer whispered in meher's ear after dropping a kiss on her neck.
"Rehearsal...?? For what..??"
"Honeymoon..." replied abeer rocking meher in his arms.
"No..."
Meher turned around and now came face to face with abeer.
"It's your punishment... Never fight with me again..." and he winked at her.
"Promise you will never shout on me..." Meher said with a cute pout.
"Anything you want baby... Anything..." Abeer said while playing with meher's hair and his nose tracing her collar bone.
"You will agree to everything right now... I know..."
"So grab the opportunity baby..."
Abeer pulled meher dangerously close to him, making her moan at the sudden proximity.
Before things could progress and turn into something more passionate, they were interrupted by the constant ringing of the intercom. Abeer groaned in frustration and picked up the phone after putting the music off.
"Dad..."
"No no.. No way... She is not with me..."
"We are not married..."
"I know... Trust me... Goodnight dad"
Meher listened to abeer's side of the convo and burst into laughter seeing his all sanskari expressions. Abeer put the receiver down and looked at meher raising one of his eye brow.
"No no... We are not married... Don't come near me..."
Meher teased abeer and giggled. But on seeing abeer coming near her, she started running around the room only to be caught by abeer and thrown on the bed within seconds. Abeer pinned meher to the mattress and leaned close to her inhaling her fragrance. Meher became really nervous and her heart starting beating so loud that she could clearly hear it.
"Knock knock"
"Argghh..." Abeer groaned loudly.
Seeing him, meher couldn't help but giggle.
"Ignore it... Let's resume..." Abeer again leaned on meher.
"Like seriously despo... Go and check who is there..."
Abeer half heartedly got up from the bed and opened the door to see shasha standing there.
"What do you want shasha...?? I'm damn sleepy... You just disturbed my sleep; there should be a damn good reason for it..." said abeer in one breath.
"Yeah yeah... Like I don't know what was going on..."
"Whatever... Bol ab..."
"You know my ex... He is calling me every now and then... You talk to him and warn him na... Call shasha and I will kill you types..." Shasha requested abeer.
"Ok... First thing tomorrow morning..." Abeer smiled and agreed.
"Tomorrow...?? No dude... Right now...!! Pleaseee "
"Let's get over with it... Come.." said abeer.
Shasha was about to enter into the room when abeer stopped her.
"By come I meant the lobby... Outside my room... I can't talk like that in front of meher..." Abeer explained.
"Hehe... Ohh... Scared much..." Shasha giggled.
Meher got up from the bed and stood near the window looking at the sky and the twinkling stars which seemed really close to ger... So close that if she stretched her hand a bit, she would touch them. Meher smiled at this very thought and closed her eyes in delight. After five minutes, she opened her eyes and wondered why abeer hasn't returned yet and what was so urgent and important. Meher decided to go and look for abeer, so she got out of the room. She stopped in her tracks when she saw abeer and shasha hugging each other and smiling. Abeer broke the hug and playfully messed shasha's hair. She then hit his arm and hugged him again.
Meher didn't like what she saw and made her way back to the room. She got into the bed and closed her eyes in an attempt of stopping her tears from rolling down. A tear rolled down her cheek and she quickly wiped it away. Just then the door opened with a click and meher closed her eyes faking that she was already asleep. Abeer got into the bed and looked at meher who was sleeping peacefully on the other side. He was clearly disappointed, if meher could see it. Abeer turned off the light and turned around, his back facing meher's back.
Meher finally let the tears roll down her cheek. She left her internship in between and came all the way to lonavla. She made abeer her top most priority and somehow expected the same from him. But for the first time, he disappointed her today. Was talking with shasha more important than the intimate moment they were about to share... Did shasha and she held same level of importance in abeer's life...?? Meher couldn't stop her from wondering these things and she felt restless and sad until a hand wrapped around her waist. Meher felt alive, happy, elated and wanted when abeer cuddled to her and kissed her neck, while his rhythmic breath fanning on her neck told her that he was asleep... fast asleep.

I'm a bit disappointed with the response guys... I will put the story on hold as an option... 😳
