"Randhir you need to know this... or... I wouldn't tell you," Anju started, and I could hear the hesitation and pain in her voice.

What Anju was about to tell me was definitely not something easy for her to say.

"Randhir, you can't... have children with Sanyukta," Anju said, taking a deep breath, and I looked at her with shock.

"What?" I asked, unable to understand what she was trying to say.

"In her first pregnancy, her child caused a lot of complications for her. Halfway through the pregnancy, the doctor told me that Sanyukta was depressed, and it was starting to affect the child. If it continued to be that way, it would affect her more too. I told Sanyukta that she's hurting her child by being like that, but Sanyukta couldn't control it. Soon it started to get worse, and the child died in her womb," Anju explained. "Because of this though, the doctor told me, that if she ever got pregnant again, there is a high chance of Sanyukta losing her life."

Anju's eyes filled with tears and I looked down at the ground, trying to comprehend it all - now it made sense. The reason Anju wanted to get Sanyukta married off early made sense. Anju didn't think anyone would marry Sanyukta in this condition. If they did, she didn't think anyone would stick around after hearing this truth. She had enough faith in me to know that I wouldn't leave Sanyukta after we got married, but she also thought that by telling me this before our marriage, I would start to have second thoughts.

"She is fertile?" I asked Anju softly.

"Yes," Anju said, "There's nothing wrong with her fertility...you just can't let her get pregnant or... or she could die. I can't have my Sanyukta die."

I couldn't have my Sanyukta die either.

"Don't worry," I told Anju reassuringly. "I'll look after her."

"Make sure she doesn't find out," Anju warned me, "She will be hurt - she already feels like her life is worthless. After knowing this truth, she will be broken Randhir."

Anju hated me for this reason - I was the father of the child that caused this to happen to Sanyukta. I was the reason all of this happened. No wonder she hated me. I would hate myself too.

"I'm sorry," I said to her.

"Please avoid being with her if you can," Anju pleaded, looking at me with glossy eyes.

I didn't want to get into protection methods with my mother-in-law, so I kept quiet. If we had protected sex, then Sanyukta had a 99% chance of not getting pregnant.

"How am I supposed to explain my distance to her?" I asked Anju.

"I don't know Randhir. Explain it however you want, but just don't let it happen," she begged.

It suddenly made sense why Anju wanted us to be separate from each other in the last day. She was afraid our hormones would come back raging, and we would sleep with each other, and I would get her pregnant.

"I'll try my hardest," I promised.

"Try what?" Sanyukta asked, appearing in the living room.

"I'll try my hardest to keep you happy," I replied to her and she smiled at me.

"Ready to go?" she asked softly.

"Yes," I said and stood up.

I walked over to Sanyukta and picked up her suitcases as Anju called a taxi. Sanyukta didn't even look at her mom. When the taxi came, all Sanyukta did was mutter a harsh "bye" and walked out of the door.

I looked at Anju apologetically. She had tears in her eyes.

"Bye," I said to her respectfully then I went to her to touch her feet.

She touched my head and whispered, "Live long."

I touched her hand over my head and softly said, "Only if I am successful in keeping Sanyukta healthy and happy."

Then I got up and walked out of the door, joining Sanyukta in the backseat of the cab that was to take us to our hotel, before we boarded the flight to India the next day.

I didn't have time to go to the store to get protection, and I didn't know how I would explain to Sanyukta that we couldn't sleep together tonight. If her life was at stake, so was mine.

When we checked into the hotel and entered our room, I put down Sanyukta's suitcases and looked at her with a smile on my face. She looked down and blushed - she was beautiful.

I locked the door and walked up to her before holding her shoulders gently, causing her to look up at me.

She had tears in her eyes.

"I can't believe this," she murmured.

"It all feels like a dream," I responded softly.

She took a step forward and rested her head on my chest, and I held her softly against me. As I stroked her hair, and her tears fell on my sherwani, I felt her grip on the back of my sherwani tighten.

This wasn't a good sign - she was going to pursue something. She broke the hug and looked up at me, before bringing her hands up to cup my face. I touched her hands over my face and whispered, "We have so much to catch up on."

Her hands fell and she walked to the bed, letting the dupatta that was over her head fall to her shoulders.

She sat down, and I sat down next to her.

"I don't want to talk about anything," she murmured.

"Why not?" I whispered softly. "Why didn't you contact me Sanyukta?"

Then she looked up at me, her eyes filled with anger.

"Why didn't I contact you Randhir? You lied to me! How do you expect me to contact you after that?" she snarled. "In fact, I still wouldn't contact you - it's just that I felt like I was giving too much stress to my mom, so I married you."

Then she folded her arms in annoyance, and I looked at her, feeling tears sting my eyes.

"Really?" I asked her softly, "So you didn't marry me because you loved me?"

"No," she snapped. "Even if I loved you, I wouldn't marry you. Never in my life did I think I'd marry a liar, a cheat."

"Sanyukta," I murmured softly, "I'm sorry, but you know I love you a lot."

"I don't care how much you love me or hate me," she said. "All I know is that my mom wanted me to get married - the best suitor was you, by far, because I knew that maybe you'd lie to me, maybe you'd break my heart, but at least you wouldn't take away my freedom."

I looked at her with disbelief. She had gone crazy - she had told me just earlier today that she loved me, or had she forgotten?

"Don't you love me?" I asked her, my voice barely above a whisper.

"No!" she snapped, "I don't love you. I loved someone else."

"Who?" I asked. "Why didn't you tell me? I would have made sure you two got together - it still isn't late."

"We can't get together because he isn't real!" she yelled. "Randhir, he was my imagination - he looked like you, but he wasn't you. I was in love with him. Not a lying version of him."

Then she started to cry, as if she was overwhelmed. I touched her shoulder softly. I knew she had gone through so much in the last six years, and no matter what venom she spewed at me, my love for her would not change.

She leaned into my chest and she cried.

"I'm miserable," she whispered.

I held her tightly as she cried, stroking her hair softly.

"I love you," I murmured.

"I - I don't want to love you," she croaked. "You might lie to me again."

I quietly stroked her cheek.

"Randhir," she said, after a few moments. "Please forgive me if I can't give myself to you completely."

"What do you mean?" I asked softly.

She pulled her body off mine and wiped her tears with the base of her palm.

"I mean, I can give my mind to you, my body to you, maybe my heart too... but I can't give my soul to you, not when you've hurt me already so much," she whispered. "And don't - don't try to stop me from doing what I want."

"I won't ever force you to do something or stop you from doing something unless it isn't good for you," I told her seriously.

"How can you decide what's good for me?" she snapped.

"Just trust me," I whispered.

"I can't," she said softly. "You broke my trust already."

"Sanyukta, I'm not saying to trust me to be honest to you - trust me when I say I'm always looking out for you, and doing what's best for you," I explained.

"Whatever," she murmured. "Let's sleep... we have a flight tomorrow."

I smiled at her.

"Okay," I replied.

Then she held on to the collar of my sherwani before gently pushing me back on the bed. She climbed over my body and I immediately breathed sharply.

"What are you doing?" I whispered.

"You're my husband," she said, her eyes filling with tears again. "I've always dreamed about my suhaagraat... the night where I give myself completely to my Randhi - my husband."

I smiled at her as she corrected herself.

"Why don't we wait until we go to India?" I asked her.

"No, we aren't waiting," she decided firmly. "We're going to do it here and now."

awesome update.
If Sanyu becomes pregnant her life will be in danger.
She doesn't know this.
Anju asked Randhir to keep it as a secret.
But the truth must be told to Sanyu, ha she will suffer first but with Randhir's love and care she will be okay.
She is fertile, then there are other ways to bring a child, a test tube baby is a best option.
If Randhir lied this time, that will be last straw for Sanyu to ever trust him
