Chapter Eight:
The Colors of Their World
Part A:
(This chapter is all in Flashback)
"This universe is a scheming, delusional origin. It is not the decision of the living , or the Earthly Gods of living, or the rich, or the heartless, or the prestigious... In the end one way or another it is the congealed unyielding decision of the Maker Of Universe which spurs us into action regardless to what resolutions our mind weaves. "
Relief unlike he had ever known washed over him as his eyes made out the lone figure, attired in the radiant colors of orange and yellow, perched on a fallen brick against the wall. Her body quaked with fear of loneliness and abandonment while her lips perpetually enthused with a chant he could not make out.
The wooden pillar rattled above her when a hinge came undone. His entire being went into a galloping movement of stillness and shock watching the board above dangling dangerously low.. His big saucer eyes clouded with naked fear for the life of the girl who he apparently hated, the girl who had made his life hell from the time she had stepped into the premises of their college, the girl who had left no stone unturned in gashing his esteem. His paralyzed body maintained its stance even when his eyes trekked back to her. His heart thudded exponentially, having found its twin to whom beats it had treacherously learned to synchronize with. A thud again and the same realization sunk into her heart as she lashed her head in his direction.
He was the last safeguard on earth she had hoped for to miraculously appear. Yet there he was, the very same someone who had so cunnivingly endangered her life to avenge for all the protests she had held against him. Their eyes met when a lightning fork split the sky illuminating the interior of the crumbling place.
He witnessed the fear of her hazel orbs lifting and giving way to disappointment. Seeing that for some unknown reason hurt him. He was used to see hatred, disgust, challenge and what not in those ever so beautifully shaped almond eyes but he had never found disappointment for himself in them. It was like he had somehow triumphed in smashing the ciphers of belief she had in him to smithereens, like she expected him to be better than this, better than the master of planning this callous plan.
One more resounding creak made their heads turn towards the sound of the disturbance. As her eyes rounded with terror, with one predator-like impetus movement he lunged towards her taking her by her wrist. The force with which he pulled her up shook her to the core. Her messy braid came undone, her brazen black hair flying around as the flames of an ignited fire. Another thunderous lightening marred the sky, the loudness striking their ears.
Finding no time at his dispense to waste, he ran out of the room dragging her behind him. The moment their feet touched the ground outside the confines of that room the wooden board came crashing down , making the dust fly around. The collision was so earth smattering that they lost the ability to hear for several seconds that followed.
He sustained his run, all the time oblivious to a protesting Khushi behind him who had emerged from the aftershock. Her brain swarming with menacing aggravation, she managed to spring free her wrist from his clutches with one deep jerk of her hand. He turned around, his anger palpitating and perching the summit. Anger not at her but at himself, for being the best insolent douche-bag the world could ever produce and for imperiling the breaths of a girl who had been nothing but a warrior against him on his battlefield and a girl who had slightly but miraculously made her way into the fringes of his heart.
"Don't touch me!" she yelled at him, as tears of anger and frustration tracked down her face.
"Listen to me Khushi! I had no idea this place was in such perishing condition." he spoke through clenched teeth, trying to make her believe.
"No Mr.Raizada! You listen to me and if it is not in your nature to listen to anybody then make yourself because today Khushi Kumari Gupta, a girl of a shallow and menial status is going to tell you that not only you but your whole life is erected on the pedestal of false pretenses! How didn't you know?" She shouted, pushing him back with her palms with all her might.
"You are God. Right? You are supposed to know everything!" Another mighty push against his muscular chest.
"You should have known! I am beguiled by how astutely you risked my life!" She hollered again, but this time her hands which were aiming to push him got held robustly with his large rough ones.
"Listen to me dammit! I told you before, I am telling you now I had not the slightest idea of all this. I didn't know the storm would struck and I didn't know this place was tattered to such an extent!" He barked, gripping her slender wrists some more. He backed her against the wall aggressively. Her petite form pressed against it. Her bated breath and hammering heartbeats rigorously grazing her system.
Thousands of fairylight balls illuminated in her entire being on such close proximity with him. Even though she was furious with him for having put her life in sheer danger of death, she couldn't stop his uncontrollable body from responding to his closeness.
She looked deep into his chocolate eyes perceptibly smirched with maddening infuriation. Their eyes oscillating in beat with each other, searching for answers. In those movements of surfing in the oceans of his honest eyes, she wanted to trust him with all her heart but she didn't let it it show on her face. Instead an inculminating and odious look glistened her eyes. Vexed with her skepticism he clenched her teeth, his cheekbone visible under the affect. Driven by anger and frustration he continued to impart force on her wrists missing the flash of pain that streaked her eyes. It was only when he felt a wetness under his left palm and saw a falling teardrop on his left backhand he realized her pain...and his. He watched the droplet mesmerized with the feel of helplessness and hurt it had the capability to create just by its mere existence. Its mere existence from the eyes of the very girl who was captured in his arms.
Ruefully, he slowly unclenched his hands and found blood dribbling out from her wrist. Her broken bangles fell down on being freed. His eyes went back to her and took in her drooping eyes. They fluttered some more and then closed. Her body slid against the wall, hand dangling down and head tilted. He held her lifeless body in his left arm. A teardrop escaped her shut eyes, his hands moved on their own accord to wipe off its subsistence. The feel of her skin under his hands made his inside go queasy. He shifted the locks of hair that curtained her face behind her ears.
At that place and time, those apocalyptic minutes changed everything in Arnav Singh Raizada's life. A dawn iridescent with hundreds of rainbows and suns broke in his world floodlighting it with unparalleled warmth and luminosity. Arnav Singh Raizada had finally fallen unconditionally and irrevocably for the angel in disguise. The angel who he had deemed to be a devil sent from his very own personal hell.
Though he had tried with all his heart and mind to not let her invade his world, the very opposite took place in those moments. The girl, who he claimed to hate the most in the entire world till today, in matter of seconds became just the same...his world.
