The first episode of Ek Tha Raja Ek Thi Rani' aired on Monday, July 27, 2015 left us intrigued! So, if you missed watching the show, here's an update you can read on. The episode begins in the year 1945 with the proud and ostentatious to the core, Rajmata of Ameerkot (Anita Raaj), defining her character by getting ready in beautiful royal finery and jewelry for her photo session - a well-nurtured habit of the erstwhile Maharanis. She notices the deep age lines on her neck and chooses to wear the choker to hide them. However, convinced with the intelligent counsel of her foremost maid, she drops the idea to wear the choker and opts to adorn her neck with the heirloom.
The subjects of Ameerkot welcome their King - Rana Indravardhan Singh Deo (Siddhant Karnick), after six odd years. Rana had left his subjects and palatial comforts to fight the second world war. As he is welcomed by his troops amidst gun fires, gory scenes of the death of his fellow soldiers flash in Rana's memory and he feels extremely uneasy. It is shown that Rana is deeply affected with the second world war; however, he is hiding his pain inside his heart like a volcano waiting to explode.
On the other hand, the happy-go-lucky Gayatri (Drashti Dhami) comes to know from her father, who is the biggest moneylender of the state, about the arrival of Rana. Her conversation with her father proves that Gayatri respects Rana and thinks highly of him. She believes that he is unlike other selfish Kings who leave their subjects in the lurch.
Then we also get a peak into the mind of the villain - Rana's cousin whose only mission in life is to kill Rana to usurp his position. In his talks with his son, we get a hint of his vile and pretentious character.
As Rana gets into the royal beamer to make way for the palace, where his Queen Mother is eagerly waiting to welcome him home, he is unaware of the fact that his evil cousin has fixed a time bomb into the car to blow him into pieces. However, Rana leaves his cousin stupefied as he emerges out of the flames riding a horseback victoriously towards the palace.
How did Rana escape the death blow? Did he foresee the impending disaster? Tune into this space to find out tomorrow.
