Chapter-24

TORTUROUS PAST

"Romi...ek aur shabd nahin!"

[Not a word Romi!]

Om roared on top of his voice startling everyone. Raman looked on astonished at his father who is supporting and standing by his side. He so much wanted these affection. But it is past. He looked at Romi who in no time threw his laptop on the sofa and ran upstairs to his room.

Raman's silence was pricking Om's heart but he was unable to talk to him. He could see how much he is uncomfortable in his vicinity. But he so wanted to hug him...kiss him...apologize to him.

After biting in his sorrow for making his son a lonely soul he looked at his now wife. She furrowed her eyebrows asking "what?" He signed her to talk to Raman because he want to hear his voice. His eyes blurred up thinking about his small birdie voice calling papaji. It has been so long that he is going to hear him call him papa. His anticipations know no boundaries.

"Raman beta...papa apse kuch zaroori baat karna chahte hai." She told him.

[papa wants to say something to you]

He shifted his eyes from his papa's now wife and papa. Mustering all his courage he looked at the woman and answered, "Well Mrs Bhalla..., mujhe meri mummiji se kuch baat karna hai. Main baad mein ap logon se milta hun."

[I want to talk to my mummiji. I'll deal with you both later]

He turned to walk away but stopped hearing his papa's voice for the first time saying, "Maine Toshi se baat kiya hai"

[I talked to Toshi]

Raman looked on in disbelief. He couldn't believe that his mummiji know everything about his Mumbai conference. He didn't utter a single word but took out the mobile to call her.

"Ap mujhse kyun nahin kahan ki apko papa ke condition ke bare mein pata hai?" Raman asked in a low voice not to let them know his love for his papa.

[Why didn't you tell me that you know about papa's condition?

"Puttar...main tujhe vakt dena chahti dhi. Kuch sochne ka vakt. Badalne ka vakt." Toshi cried on the other end of the line.

[I wanted to give you time. To think. To change]

"Lagta hai maine kuch zyada hi vakt leliya." He sighed.

[I think I took a lot of time]

"Naa naa puttar...aise mat kehna. Tum mujhse ek vaada karoge?" Toshi asked softly.

[No. Wi;; you promise me one thing?]

"Ji mumiji...apki kasm" He said crinkling his eyebrows.

[Yes. Swear on you]

"Papa ke sare wish pure karke vapas aana..." She smiled.

[Fulfill his all his wishes and come back]

"Ji mummiji. Joh papa bolega voh mein karlunga. Ap keliye. Pakka vaada." He promised again making her smile.

[As you asy. For you. Sure]

After cutting the call he turned to Om with a sly smile. Om was flying high watching his son smiling like he used to be years ago. Raman asked him to go on with his important talk in his straight face.

"Pehale main tujhse maafi mangna chahta hun puttar...vapas nah aane keliye." Om shivered to complete but Raman just asked him not to feel sorry.

[I want to apologize first for not being there for you]

"Papa nahin bulaoge mujhe?" Om asked longing to hear it. However, Raman's reply shook him to the core.

[Won't you call me papa?]

"Abhi abhi dekha hai apko. Baap maanne main mujhe aur vakt lagega. But haan...I'll try to be a good son if not accepting you as my father. Ap joh bhi kaho main sununga except calling you that"

[I've seen you just now. It'll take some time to accept you as my father__I'll do whatever you say]

"Yahan sab tumhe pichle ek saal se mereliye bulaya. Lekin ab main Simmi se bolkar tujhe tumhareliye bulaya hai." Om started making Raman rub his cheek sloping his face not understanding anything.

[Everyone has been calling you from the past one year for me. But now I asked Simmi to call you here for yourself]

"Tikhe...suno...mera ek hi wish...no...responsibilty hai. Joh karne se ek aur Om Bhalla aur Raman Bhalla ka paida hona rokh sakunga." Om said firmly.

[Alright listen...I've a wish...no...responsibility. It'll stop the birth of one more Raman Bhalla and Om Bhalla]

"Kya matlab?" Raman looked on bemused.

[What you mean?]

"Tumhara shaadi...!!" Om declared.

[Your marriage]

"Lekin main to shaadi..." [But I'm marr...]He tried to say but Om cut him short saying that he knows he don't like marriage but it is his decision. Raman felt suffocated between his parents and his open promise. He tried to say that he is happily married to a girl and cannot think of another one like his papa did. But Om's next statement sucked his blood making him go pale.

"Voh ladki two months pregnant hai...voh bhi tumhare vajha se. Tum use kaise reject kar sakta ho Raman. Ek aur Raman is duniyan ko nahin chahiye. Main apne bete ko mere jaise nahin hone dunga." Om became emotional.

[That girl is two months pregnant with your child. How'll you reject her. This world doesn't need another Raman. I can't let my son be like me]

"Kaun...? Kaun ladki?" He couldn't complete his words fearing the obvious. What he could only think was Ishita.

[Which girl?]

"Sarika puttar...aaja...!" Mrs Bhalla called the preggy woman.

[C'mon Sarika]

Sarika entered the scene while Raman looked on like a statue; blank.

She stood beside Raman entangling her hand with his making the old duo smile lightly thinking everything is going to be alright. She muttered under her breath while faking a smile at Mr and Mrs Bhalla.

Kya socha dha Raman...Have se* for three days and leave me forever? Now the symbol of our love...oops...se* is in my womb. Ab kahan bhaagoge?"

RAMAN'S POV

When papa said that a girl got pregnant, I cursed my past lifestyle for the first time. I couldn't help but think of Ishita and her future if it comes true. How will she react?

I can't leave her for anyone. But then...aise karnese main apna papa jaise banega. Leaving one's child for a woman!

[I'll become like my papa by doing that.]

However, deep inside, I had had a little hope that it won't be true. It will be just a misunderstanding. But then Mrs Bhalla's voice calling Sarika's name destroyed my very being. It shattered my dreams with Ishita.

She walked up to me wearing a knee length off-shoulder blue gown. Her fair thighs exposed to everyone while I reminisced the days when I cherished her. The sexy three days of my life.

Arey yaar...aur kitne ladkiyan...I better give a list to Ishita! Unless, I'm gone! What's all happening with me?

[How many girls!]

She stood beside me interlacing my hands with hers. My eyes perked up at her audacity.

How dare she touch me! I'm gonna kill her!

However, I faked a cheeky smile adapting to the turn of events. And shut my eyes when she mentioned about my baby who's to be born. She leaned over my right side making me feel her flesh. A woman's touch disgusted me for the first time. I wanted to beat her then and there for taking so much freedom. But I was helpless.

I should be enjoying her! But I'm acting like a weirdo...!

What felt like forever, I got a chance to sigh a relief. The girl in my arm broke the side hug and reached my right ear by raising her heels. Softly biting that sensitive part she whispered seductively.

"We must do it tonight...again...!"

I was damned shocked. Dead. I didn't know what to do? Share this to Ishita? Mummiji? Abhi? No...! No one will stand with me? Well I don't know what is my stand is! Am I going to marry Sarika for the baby's sake? Am I going to leave Ishita for the baby's sake? Am I going to be apart from her forever? As far as I know...I'm hell sure that the baby might be mine if not she had had sex with other men.

I need to clear it. Till then I cannot accept her nor can I reject. I don't believe a flirt like Sarika. If it was Ishita I would have married her then and there because I've trust on her. I trust her for making me feel the happiness of spending a heavenly night with her. Making me realize that love making is so much special than flings. Making me proud that I'm the first to touch her.

Simmi showed Raman his bedroom and left him to take some rest after hugging him with so much love. She pouted saying that she missed him. Romi looked from afar and gritted his teeth.

It was after an hour that Raman opened his eyes feeling irritated by the constant knock on the door. He opened the door only to get pushed back by Sarika by his chest and she locked the door behind him. He stepped back feeling uncomfortable with her weird behavior and asked her to keep up her limit. She pushed his chest harder making him fall on the bed. Before he could react she was on him pinning him under her seductive body. He tilted his head and tried to shrug her off. Albeit he didn't do it because he feared for the baby. What if something happens to the baby if he responds in a violent way!

She tried to unbutton him all the while kissing him. He made yuck sounds when she tried to initiate a make out session. He hissed in frustration, "Stop it Sarika...I...I can't do this...Just leave me...I just can't do this."

Moving apart her face from the crook of his neck she looked at him quizzically. He closed his eyes and mumbled, "I'm married..."

She got up from above him and scrutinized his pale countenance. He couldn't face her. She laughed devilishly and declared firmly. "I want my baby's father only for myself no matter what. I will do anything to get you. I won't mind killing your wife!"

Forgetting all his concerns over her condition, he rose up and pinned her to the door strangling her in his arms. Her eyeballs and tongue popped out feeling his hand roughly snaking around her neck.

"Don't you dare think of it! I'll kill you before you could move a hand against my Ishita. You got that bitch?" He screamed out loud.

Before he could continue his warning session he got distracted by the constant ringing of his mobile. Sarika used this moment to escape his threatening hands. He smashed his fist on the wall in anger and strode towards the bedside table to attend the call. His eyes welled up seeing Ishita's name blinking on screen. He composed himself and decided not to let her know anything. He prepared himself to act as if he is tired and cannot talk to her now.

"Hello...I'm tired yaar..."Raman said in a weak voice making Ishita crinkle her eyebrows quizzically.

"Kya hua Raman...Aisa bhi kya kaam dha jo apko itna tired kardiya?" She asked confused.

[What happened...what job made you so tired?]

"Voh...main...kaam...tired matlab...I'm...not tired...Voh main...yuhi kaha dha..." He stammered nervously.

[That...I...job...tired...means...that...I...just said it...]
