I think Hajmola has a point.

The real ATBBs like Kismet, MI, MEA, Sholay, MPK, HAHK, Gadar, and 3I were the real game-changers. 3I held the record for such a long time. It qualifies as an ATBB. The big 5 of Indian Cinema will always remain Kismet, MI, MEA, Sholay, and HAHK. I don't think any other movie has ever come close to these in terms of business and universal acclaim.

BB won't cross PK. PK didn't have Bahubali occupying screens in the South and had Christmas + New Year holiday advantages. It also had 4 open weeks. BB isn't releasing at a strategic time to beat PK. The best one can hope is crossing D3's biz, which is still possible. This weekend will decide whether it grosses 300.

I don't understand how DDLJ and RJ were labelled as ATBBs. They were like Dabbang and CE of recent times. But then again, D3 didn't do much either and it's a lot easiler to gross 260 crores in 2013 as opposed to 200 in 2009. That makes 3I still an incredible feat.

In my opinion, true ATBBs are only Kismet, MEA, Mother India, Sholay, HAHK, 3I.

They redefined business entirely.

Other films might be huge grossers but didn't turn entire business on its head, didn't set all time, never seen before records, didn't change trend in nature of content either.

I see no reason to call Raja Hindustani or DDLJ as ATBBs.

Anyway, ATBB term was coined only in 2000s. Till 70s, superhit was the highest tag given to a film. Then they coined term blockbuster, around late 80s-90s. Now it's ATBB!

They keep changing criteria every few years or decades. How can we judge all films of past and present accurately then, with ever changing standards?

D3 isn't really an ATBB when compared to PK and 3idiots
