Can somebody help me? I want to buy a laptop for my family but I don't know the first thing about buying computers … what do I have to look for when buying a laptop… keeping in mind that all my siblings will be using it for all different reason … games, school, emailing etc …what's the best brand to buy … how do I know how much storage and memory space to look for etc?

I would appreciate it if someone could give me some tips etc?

i just baughtt mine 2 months ago from HP...

in my opinion the more the memory (RAM) and hard drive space the better it it...specially if u will have more then 1 person using it.

Rite now most computers are coming preinstalled with Windows Vista. For this you will have to make sure ur RAM is at least 1GB for it to function smoothly and not slow down with a lot of use.

The best thing in my opinion is that you should go to one of the store's sites that are in ur area and click on the compare link. That way u can compare all different types of laptops and find the best one.

Also, i recommend that You don't buy it online. Because if you have any questions or want to buy the insurance (which is very good to have trust me) then u can directly ask the store personal. And returning and exchanging is alot easier.

Sometimes if ur at an electronics store, their sales ppl can help u chose the best laptop in ur price range too.

hope all this helped!

You have mentioned games, schools, emailing. Will you also be developing software on it?
Do you want good audio/video?

Will you keep it mostly in one place? Or will you carry it a lot from one building to another?

I dnt know that much to be able to develop software😆

but yeah I will definitely be using it to watch DVDs and listen to music … It will be at home always moving from 1 room to another😕 … my parents will use it to make phone calls to Bangladesh and stuff, me and my sisters will use it for emailing, chatting on forums, watching movies online and of course I will be using paint shop pro 😃and hopefully be learning how to make video mixes and stuff and my little bros will use it for learning proposes and games … I spoke to dell salespeps etc but everything he said was alien to me 😕
