bhaarat ki shaan...one contestant who:
- has redefined consistency by giving one outstanding performance after another for over two months.
many of us have taken those performances for granted and raised the bar very high subconsciously. yet, he hardly ever disappointed us.
- has impressed notable music personalities so much that they got up from their seats on several occasions to applaud his brilliance.
i remember at the time of deepali's elimination, she said she was really happy that for the first time all four judges stood up for her. it struck me then that most of us don't realise how special a standing ovation is.
- has infused new melody into ordinary songs and made them stand out.
honestly, how many of us remember nasha ye pyaar ka nasha as 'that song from mann'? but one contestant has turned it into one of the most poignant songs of this season's indian idol.
- has represented various ethnic groups on indian idol by singings songs in tamil, punjabi, bhojpuri, bengali, khasi, nepali etc.
who's a better representative of the diverse culture of india than this contestant?
- has an amazing, rare voice, excellent pronounciation and good understanding of the technical aspects of singing even though he's untrained.
this is an ode to that contestant who has made me immensely proud. that contestant is none other than Amit Paul.
