It was a Sunday morning and Sharon was sitting on the couch lost in thoughts... she was really confused with whatever was happening since she has come back from Singapore... her reverie was broken with the ringing of the calling bell... she stood up and went to open the door to find rey standing there..

"hey Sharon..." rey faked a smile... Sharon did the same and gestured him to come in...

"taani to ghar pe nahi hai.. she has taken aru out ..." Sharon said almost mechanically... She was too occupied with other thoughts to talk to rey at that time...

"nahi mai swayam se milne aya tha..." Rey quickly corrected Sharon and continued... "I'll go to his room..." he turned and was about to got o the stairs when Sharon called out to him...

"he is not at home..." Sharon said with a straight face... " and rey aren't we suppose to be friends too????" she asked sarcastically...

Rey immediately looked back at Sharon with a frown...

"I thought we are..." Rey shrugged with a sarcastic smile...

"wow.. excellent... tumhe pata hai swayam ne kya kiya tha?? Uske baad bhi you support him like he is your best friend... You know me since childhood rey.. I expected you to be with me..." Sharon had tears in her eyes..

Rey walked back to her and stood there looking at Sharon with an amused look...

"friendship isn't about how long you know each other..." before rey could say anything else Sharon asked him calmly...

"maan liya chalo.. he is your best friend.. but you will support him even when he is wrong.. even when your best friend sleeps with another girl even after being married..." Sharon couldn't keep her voice calm now...

"you know what sharon??? the most important part about being married is???" he asked her losing his calm as well... " faith... That's what keeps everything going...faith over your partner more than your eyes..."

With that rey turned around and walked out of the house...

Sharon wanted to answer rey back but what he had said at the end somehow made her tongue tied... she admitted to herself that she didn't believe swayam more than her eyes and that's what practical people does...

But something inside her told to clarify things for the sake of her own content... she knew that whatever she was doing was right and she needed to prove it to certain people for her sake of fulfillment... she immediately took her purse and went out.. she was not in a mood to drive and seriously didn't want to take the driver with her so she took a cab...

Within half an hour she was standing outside the hospital where sheena was admitted... She closed her eyes , took a deep breath and went to the reception...

"umm.. there's a patient , sheena admitted in the third floor emergency ward... I need to meet her..." she smiled nervously at the lady at the counter..

"do you have the visiting card ma'am???" she asked Sharon.. Sharon shook her head...

"then I am sorry we can't let you inside her cabin..." She informed Sharon...

"um.. its really important.. I need to see her..." Sharon literally pleaded to that lady who finally agreed and let Sharon go... as soon as she was about to enter her cabin , she met the doctor who was coming out of her cabin...

"excuse me ma'am you can't go in..." the doctor frowned at Sharon... Sharon sighed in irritation...

"doctor I need to meet sheena..." she said calmly although she wanted to blast in irritation...

"but sheena is not in a condition to meet anyone.. her transfusion was not successful.. she has very less time..." The doctor tried to make Sharon understand who was already in shock listening to the fact that sheena has less time...

"transfusion???" she asked in horror...

"yeah.. you must be knowing sheena was detected with leucopenia a couple of years back... she has extremely white blood cells in her body... So she needs blood transfusion after every alternate month...but this time her condition is worst.. she won't survive.. may be she has a day or two more... I am sorry... and you can't meet her now..." as the doctor explained this to Sharon , but her mind has already turned blank... she struggled to catch up with her breath and literally pleaded in front of the doctor...

"please doctor, I need to meet her..." the doctor sensed Sharon wanted to meet her for the last time and after a while he let her go in for a few minutes...

Sharon quickly entered the cabin and found sheena laying on the bed with her eyes open... Sharon felt tears trickling down her cheeks as the night came flashing in front of her again...

Sheena's face curved into a soft smile and a tear escaped her eyes as soon as she saw Sharon... sheena looked at the nurse present there and requested her to leave them alone who moved out after a lot of pleading...

"Sharon... wo mai..." Sheena struggled with her breath as Sharon felt her body rage in anger...

"look... I just want to know one thing.. why is everyone making me feel that swayam was never wrong..." she asked sheena coldly...

"because he wasn't..." sheena gulped and breathed trying to speak to Sharon.. she knew that she didn't have much time left with her...

"yeah right..." Sharon said sarcastically but deep down a part of her heart thudded with the mere thought that what if swayam really wasn't wrong...

"Sharon , swayam really loves you... last week tumhara birthday tha nuh???" she smiled softly... Sharon nodded her head in confusion...

"he came here and gave chocolates to the children in the child ward... he loves you..." Sharon couldn't believe her ears... she felt her cheeks turning wet with fresh tears... both of them looked at the door as they heard a sound of footstep.. swayam was standing there...

Swayam was startled to sharons tanding there and crying and immediately came forward and directly asked sheena...

"kya hua???" sheena looked at him and so did Sharon... Sharon could see the same coldness in his eyes which he usually has when talking to her or anyone else now a days except for aru...

"swayam please..." Sheena wanted to say something more but her breath became shallow and the monitor indicated her heart beats were decreasing...

"swayam what are you waiting for??? Call the doctor..." Sharon almost screamed at swayam who rushed out to call the doctor... Sharon held sheena's hand forgetting who she was or what she had done to her.. as much as she tried to be selfish and indifferent , she was the Sharon who could never be inhuman...

"calm down...just relax..." Sharon's voice shivered with fear and she could hear her own sobs as she had to take too much in a single day... sheena tried to say something to her but Sharon only heard the monitor giving a loud beep as her body went calm and numb... Sharon clenched her fists and moved away from the bed as she finally realized that the girl in front of her was no more...

Swayam and the doctor came inside to find Sharon standing at a side unable to move , and sheena was laying there lifeless , with the monitor beeping... The doctor sighed in defeat and swayam stood there without having anything to say... after a few minutes , swayam's manager aman came inside the cabin.. more than his employee aman was a good friend of swayam and he knew everything that was not right in their life... He kept his hand on his shoulder and swayam looked back at him in relief...

"aman.. just handle..." Before swayam could completed aman nodded his head in assurance...

"don't worry swayam.. I'll handle.. tu ghar ja.. and take her home..." Even after being his employee , he used to call swayam by his name... that's the bond they shared.. swayam nodded calmly...

"uumm.. rahul ko..." Again before swayam could finish aman nodded... " swayam I said I'll handle.. you leave..." Swayam gave him a slight nod and without another word he held sharon's hand and pulled her out of there... Sharon was too confused to understand what was going on around her.. she still couldn't understand any bit of her life...

Swayam opened the door of his car , made her seat and quickly drove her home.. after parking the car he came out of the car and straight away went inside the house not even asking Sharon to get down...

Sharon wiped her tears , calmed herself down and walked inside the house ready to get answers of all her questions...

As soon as she walked in she found taani looking at her in confusion...

"kya hua?? You went somewhere with bhai??? Is everything all right..." Taania asked out of concern...

Sharon just shook her heads lost in thoughts...

"sheena is no more..." As soona s Sharon uttered the words taani was shocked...

"what?? What happened?? And how do you know that???" taani made Sharon sit on the couch and gave her a glass of water...

"I went to the hospital to meet her... I told you nuh that she was admitted there and swayam goes to meet her???" she asked taani who nedded and gestured her to continue.. " I met her today... she said swayam is not wrong... he loves me..." taani kept quiet... after sometime sharon whispered finally admitting to herself... " I too feel that he does..." as a tear escaped her eyes... taani held her hands tightly...

"I know Sharon.. I know he does love you... but that doesn't change the fact what you saw four years back..." sharon looked at taani...

"he had always loved you Sharon.. may be he does love you now too... but at one point of the time , his weakness took over him right??? He fell weak and he did take solace with someone else after being married.. and that doesn't change his mistake or rather crime irrespective of his love for you..." Taani herself had tears in her eyes... she knew she could do nothing to stop her brother's pain because if she does it then she will be compromising with something unethical which is also a crime... nor could she help Sharon out of her pain because she knew whatever Sharon did was not wrong...

"after all these years.. for the first time I feel there's more to the story.. swayam cannot be wrong.. he is not..." Sharon wiped her tears and licked her dry lips and stood up... She quickly walked upstairs and taani knew that she is going to talk to swayam but didn't stop her.. deep down she also wanted everything back like before...

Sharon was standing outside swayam's room for over a minute before knocking.. swayam was sitting on his bed lost in thoughts when he heard the knock.. he knew who was knocking and for what.. he sighed and prepared himself for whatever was coming and opened the door...

He kept quiet and stood there waiting for sharon to say something... Sharon tried to gauge his thoughts from his eyes but when she found them blank and distant she broke the ice...

"can I come in???" she asked softly... swayam without saying anything moved aside so that Sharon could walk in... Sharon slowly stepped inside and stared at the blank wall.. she remembered that a week before this had pictures of her and the entire family which she had broken on holi and swayam hadn't put them up again... she could feel her eyes filling up... she had always wanted to go away from swayam and right now when she is slowly forcing herself to move far away , she realized that swayam is not stopping her and this hurt her... to an extent that she wanted to scream to swayam to stop her.. but she couldn't let swyaam see that she is weak.. she couldn't let him know that she needs him..

"sorry... I shoudn't have broken them... I didn't realize what I was doing...I was drunk..." She didn't even realize that she had said that aloud and immediately looked at swayam to see his reaction when she understood that she had really said them...

She turned to see swayam looking at her quietly... Sharon suddenly realized that the room was dark.. the lights were switched off , the curtains were pulled and the only faint light was coming from the sides of the curtain and the open door... she went to the window to pull the curtains away when she heard his voice...

"rehene do.. I like it this way..." Sharon left the curtains and walked towards him...

"look swayam.. sheena didn't tell me what happened that night... she couldn't..." Sharon directly came to the point.. swayam kept looking at her blankly...

"I know.. so??" he asked...

"swayam its my life.. I need to know uss raat kya hua...mai gayi thi tumhare office .. you know I saw you with her... you..." she couldn't say more... she licked her lips and nevertheless continued... " both of you were intimate...you people were..." Before she could say anything else , she heard him speak...

"dekhliya na?? ab aur kya janna hai???" he asked blankly...

"par sheena said you were not wrong..." Sharon said with frustration...

"excellent... she said and you believed???wasn't she the same girl whom you thought your husband spends his nights with..." Sharon flinched at his voice.. there was something in his voice which made Sharon go numb and scared...

"swayam please mujhe janna hai uss raat kya hua... I am your wife..." Sharon was desperate for answer...

"and kya janna hai... tumne sab dekha tha nuh???" swayam didn't want to say anything else to her.. he didn't have anything else to say...

"par I know tum galat nahi the... I know..." Sharon couldn't hold her tears any more.. she held his hands but swayam immediately took it away...

"aur ye ehesaah ka reason is sheena??" he smiled fighting his tears...

"swayam do understand.. meine bohut kuch kho diya hai.. you have to understand swayam..." she managed to speak in between her sobs...

"I understand Sharon.. I do... everyone lost a lot..." He said looing at the floor...

"abhi hum sab thik kar sakte hai... baas mujhe sach batao..." She whispered to him in defeat...

"sach batane ke liye kuch rehena bhi chahiye..." he looked away...

"swayam please.. don't do this just tell me..." She screamed at him...

"kyun??? Ab kyun??? Kyun lagta hai mai sahi tha?? Aisa nahi lagni chahiye tumhe..." He said calmly... "especially kisi aur ki baton pe ake... aur wo kisi aur jab sheena hai , right???" he gritted his teeth in frustration...

"I do trust ..." before she could complete swayam screamed at her... "shut up.. just shut up... you don't..." he closed his eyes because he knew he shouldn't shout at that point of time.. he calmed himself down and continued... " look... I know you don't.. aur agar tumhe lagta hai after all these years things can be fine... then let me tell you , they would never be.. kyunki nothing is left inside me to make it fine..." His voice was still blank yet heavy...

"but swayam I can't understand anything.. aise kyun bol rahe ho tum.. maine apne ankhon se sab kuch dekha..." she said desperately...

"maine kab bola nahi dekha?? I am saying the same thing.. so why the hell are you doubting that now?? After all these years???now that we will be ending everything... Not that anything is left to end.. but we will be doing it legally..." he asked her looking into her eyes..

"what I did was not wrong swayam..." she said with determination...she knew she was not wrong and she would stand by that...

swayam gave her a smile in return...

"I never said you were..." he pursed his lips together and sighed...

"swayam..." she didn't know what else to say but she knew that she had to say something...

"Sharon.. please... leave..." She still couldn't believe the swayam she was seeing in front of her... it was as if he is someone else with the same physical appearance... in a trance Sharon moved out of his room , which was once , their room... their little abode of happiness...

note : we know many of you get confused with the fact that why can't swayam , Sharon behavelike any other normal person would do ... its just that the characters that we sketched is complicated and at the end of the day its not what we would have done if we were at their place but but entirely what their characters would do... we purposely didn't give any character sketch so that with the flow of the story the readers interpret each shade of their character on their own without us forcing our interpretation over them...
