Kareena Kapoor can heave a sigh of relief now.
Her thriller with Rajkumar Gupta was left abandoned when Salman Khan, who was to originally produce the film under his banner Salman Khan Films, backed out at the eleventh hour. His reason - he didn't find the project economically viable.
Now, Eros International has come into the picture. The studio has decided to back the film, which sees Kareena playing a schizophrenic. The budget has been economically worked out and the film is expected to go on floors in the latter half this year.
So who's grinning from ear to ear because of this news? The director.
You may remember that Gupta was supposed to make Chetan Bhagat's Revolution 2020 for Disney UTV. He was hell bent on having his girlfriend Myra Karn (she played Jessica Lal in Gupta's No One Killed Jessica) as the leading lady. In sharp contrast, Bhagat, who has a say in the cast, wanted Alia Bhatt or Shraddha Kapoor. As a result, the studio and the director had to part ways.
Now, the director has a reason to celebrate.
When contacted, Gupta confirmed the news.
