For me it reminds me of the movie Kuch Kuch Hota Hai
as I am more inclined towards Sam and Neil and Arjun being the guy who wooed Sam away.

Neil is Kajol , the person who loves his bestie

Sam is SRK's character who is attracted towards Arjun

Arjun is Rani's Character

The one dialogue I remember is when Rani writes to her daughter that Rahul and Anjali were meant to be, they didn't know it yet but then I came in between...otherwise they would have progressed into being lovers...
