I think the accident allowed him to come to terms with his emotions. His conversation with Tarini made him realize that he is indeed in love with Ananya. But his conversation with Khalid reminded him why he needs to control his emotions and not make the mistakes of his past; Plus he is in a phase where he doesnt expect Ananya to love him back
