No one wants to see graphical intimate scenes. Don't typecast majority of the forum with an accusation like this. We follow the progression of a loved 'FICTIONAL ' couple for over a year and getting intimate is just another NATURAL development in the story. For a normal couple in reality consummation isn't a big deal and hence as viewers we find it absurd that the creators make it one in shows. It's them who drag and then hype it, us viewers find it a natural part of life and don't understand why the makers think so regressively about it.
And about the many other aspects of the couple you mentioned - we've enjoyed each bit of it so far...

Its not the viewers who are hyping consummation sequences as my friend Anku pointed out on page 1 its these channels and makers who make the thing sound like its freaking apocalypse or something which is why they make couples hyperventilate, make lovey dovey eyes at each other for at least a year before they finally make them give into the sexual tension that threatens to burst their zippers, in normal life a couple in love, especially if they are married dont take forever to give into their attraction, so this grievance should be addressed to all the PH' and channels who hype these consummation sequences out of proportion not the viewers, as it is this is Indian TV and not Showtime or HBO who can truly shock the viewers and are abashed in airing nudity and sexual scenes, in Indian shows its always the cliche - candles, winds, darkness, some song from a movie or the show' track if any and after a little chase and some touchy-wouchy moments the couple lands on a bed or something that they make do with in its absence and voila the deed is done which is signified by those candles being extinguished and the couple either holding hands or the hero nuzzling her neck - bam thats it.
