My guess, his comments were genuine, but he also has a valid explanation (for why he pseudo complimented her) behind which he can hide his true feelings (probably even to himself ;))

I thoroughly enjoyed the last scene yesterday, but somewhere I felt it didn't gel with the Kabir Sharma we know of and admire. He is not the sort of person who flirts (or even genuinely admires) in the grave circumstances they both are in, even for the sake of distracting her. Kabir Sharma is someone who is calculative, manipulative and also very level leaded, there would be multiple angles and reasoning behind every step he takes. Today's spoilers totally justified his behaviour to me. I think he would hush Ananya by eyes when he breaks the glass, but his mouth would utter some flirty dialogues.

Kabir is quite a complicated fellow and Ananya is probably the last girl he would like to compliment straightforwardly. Hence these crooked ways. Not that he's doing this for the 1st time. He's done this after the party. He went straight up to Ananya looking into her eyes and ended up complimenting Trisha.
