F o u r years of IPK magic

Filled with moments golden and sometimes tragic

As Russia and Arabia now go g a g a

Dissolving into the abyss of an e v e r l a s t i n g saga

The caravan of f a n s keeps spreading worldwide

With an o v e r w h e l m i n g love that can no longer hide

Time and again, the heart craves for a Rabba ve

Unbelievable but true, this love is here to stay

So let's do herewa a t h u m k a , therewa a thumka

Let the man go what the', while his girl goes s a n k a

But never can he deny the calls of the dupatta

Hamesha will go on, kahani Arnav aur Khushi ka

Sixth of June. Once upon a time this was an ordinary date. Another day in the calendar. Sometimes you didn't even notice it passing by. Then an elderly lady came bustling out at Gomti Sadan and bellowed, "Hai re, Nandkissore!", a lissome young girl ran out of her home wearing a lovely green and pink lehenga with white sneakers, a pearl dori on her fine straight back, and the sound of helicopter could be heard up there in the wide blue Lucknow sky.

Suddenly, just like that, sixth of June stopped being an ordinary date.
Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon? had landed in our lives.

"Arnav Singh Raizada ka nishana kabhi nahin choogta!" Tell me you didn't hear that line in your head just now; a husky voice, slightly brutal. Or maybe you felt the whisper of a young innocent sound, "woh kya hai ki, aaj school mein drama competition (pronounced: kumpetishun) hai na issliye hum ghar se hi taiyaar hoke jaa rahe hain... rajkumari ki tarah..."

Rajkumari... princess. How prettily she sat on her scooter. But like the boy looking at her inquisitively did we wonder, so where is her rajkumar, the prince?

Or maybe even before we could think that, she had looked up thanks to that particularvibe, some call it mehsoos, that was only theirs? The girl on the ground, Khushi Kumari Gupta and the man flying in, Arnav Singh Raizada.

By the end of that first day's episode the two had met. And it was instantly clear that nothing would be the same again. And delightfully, utterly, unbelievably, nothing ever was.

Welcome to the 4th Anniversary celebrations of Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon? There never has been a show like this and chances and DM clearly suggest, there never again will be.

Have we ever seen pyaar like this before? Or for that matter, nafrat? Has a jodi ever had such chemistry? Or that sexy scintillating touch of intelligent comedy? Beautiful relationships and familial ties, pet goat, the creepiest villain on the face of the earth, OP, HP, JP, Hello Hi Bye Bye, gust of wind, jalebi, stars, Hamesha, Vishwas, Rabba Ve, even SUV and MU... there was no end to the extra ordinariness of this show.

It pulled us in, it kept us in a state of excitement and joy, weekends became things not to look forward to. Because IPKKND aired only weekdays. All around the world, we were glued to the TV and then frenziedly hitting replay on Youtube. Ah, thosedays...

Then one fine day, just a year and a half later, at 398 episodes, Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon? ended. We were sad, we were upset, we felt lost and bereft... for IPKKND was far more than just a soap, it was a dear and cherished part of our lives... how would we survive without the Sanka and the Gussa and the Shut up, Khushi! and the Aap Shut up.

Yet we did. And happily too. Because the show may have ended, but our love is forHamesha.

Around the world again ASR and Khushi beguile and mesmerise... in Russia, in Egypt, in Syria, in Turkey, and in many parts of India... in dubbed versions, in subtitled versions...

and in our dil and dimaag, samjhi tum!

We'd like to thank everyone who made Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon? the most fabulous show on earth: Gul Khan, Nissar Parvez, Maan Singh, 4Lions Productions, Star Plus, Lalit Mohan, Arshad Khan, Ved Raj, Sudhir Kumar, Gautam Hegde, Janaki V, Hitesh Kewaliya, The Team of Writers, Raju Singh, Hrishikesh Gandhi, The Creative Directors, Editors, and the Entire Unit, Jayashree T, Daljeet Bhanot, Abhaas Mehta, Akshay Dogra, Deepali Pansare, Utkasrsha Naik, Abha Parmar, Piyumori Mehta, Sanjay Batra, Rajesh Jais, Sana Khan, Karan Goddwani, Swati Chitnis, Madhura Naik, the actors who played Happy Ji, Bedi Ji, OP, HP, JP, Lallan, Rocky, Mohan, Banwari Dhobi, and the invisble Aman;

Last and absolutely the most, the two people without whom
Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon? would not have been what it is...

THE ASR, who walks keeping everything under the heel of the shoe, the acrid, the rancorous and the fired up are the correct words to describe his mood and persona. A self-made man not caring an ounce about the rest of the world except his business, the empire he had set up all by himself. But when the lion can be tamed, why would this ever caustic ASR be left behind?

He's magic and myth ... As strong as what I believe ... A tragedy with ... More damage than a soul should see ... I don't know what he's after ... But he's so beautiful ... Such a beautiful disaster ... And if I could hold on ... Through the tears and the laughter/Would it be beautiful? ... Or just a beautiful disaster.

Whole name: Khushi Kumari Gupta.

Occupation: Halwai ki beti, PA of ASR, domestic teacher to Lavanya and so on..

Khushi was the girl to which every good word can be synonymous to. A source of laughter in everyone's life and the pack of vibrant hues. Given any opportunity , she would cause a problem everywhere in the first crack. And that's what she did with ASR's life. Causing the rogue to turn into a kitten in just a span of a year.

You're a falling star, you're the get away car...You're the line in the sand when I go too far ... You're a carousel ... you're a wishing well ...And you light me up, when you ring my bell ... You're a mystery, you're from outer space ...You're every minute of my everyday.

Like the petals are to a new bud, Payal's character could be defined the same to Khushi. The ever supportive, the loving and the charming sister she was, no one could have wished for a better one.

It took all the strength I had ...not to fall apart. kept trying hard to mend the pieces of my broken heart ...and I spent oh so many nights, just feeling sorry for myself, I used to cry, But now I hold my head up high ... and now I'm saving all my loving for someone who's loving me.

The charming lad who never failed to make everyone happy. Be it his mother in law, his fianc, his wife, his own mum, father and mainly his brother. He was the one who preferred remaining silent all the times but in his absence, the devoid couldn't be filled by anyone.

Hello ! is it me you're looking for, 'cause I wonder where you are, And I wonder what you do, are you somewhere feeling lonely? Or is someone loving you?...Tell me how to win your heart, For I haven't got a clue ... But let me start by saying, I love you.

He was the perfect example of a great and loving father. His blood or not, he never failed to show his love for both his daughters.

When I need an advice you're the one I'm seeking for, My inspiration in this life ... keep us safe and secure. No one can understand what you go through sometimes, But you still standing tall so we can have a peace of mind. When times are rough, you never let us know...when things are tough, you still go with the flow, so I thank you father ...'cause I know the ups and downs didn't bother.

Chhote's elder sister, Anjali Raizada Jha. A soft voiced and cheese hearted lady who could go to any lengths to make her small brother happy. She acted like a mother figure in hard times, remained strong and did not let his brother crumple down. The result ended in the great ASR. Too innocent to be driven by anyone's charm was her mistake, but that can't hide all her goodness. Not to forget, devi mayya's favourite devotee.

How cruel are you ? Is it not enough that you hurt me ? Have you no pity ? Have you no shame that you cheat on me, Knowing the love I have for you. Is it not a shame, the passion, the years and the longing that I am living.

With the heart of gold, as soft as a cotton ball, she is Devyani Singh Raizada, the grandmother of Anjali and Arnav. Be it a difficult or a heart breaking moment, with the heart of gold, it has a layer to stand strong in every situation like a pillar in the thunderstorm.

There's so much love ... so much memories, around you ... you the Grandmother. There's so much tears and smiles, through you ... you the Grandmother.

The first and last edition of his character. His brotherly affection could be ranged from his first cousin to his first cousin's cousin and even his wife and her family. The laughter can be endless wherever he goes, whatever he does. A love guru for Arnav, a helping hand to Khushi, a perfect son for Mami and the great guy for everyone else even Laxmi's teeth could be seen in his presence.

Count on me through thick and thin, A friendship that will never end, When you are weak I will be strong, Helping you to carry on, Call on me, I will be there, Don't be afraid, Please believe me when I say ... you can count on me.

"Hello Hi Bye Bye, Maaariaa, ...,...! Aray camera on kab howat hai? Show kab chalu hui gawa?"

*Camera on*

"Hello Hi Bye Bye! This eej Manorama Singh Raizada." A girl came running to sit on her lap before continuing. "The epitome of beauty and the perfect example of a branded make up kit." She said cheekily.

"Aur ye hain hamri Bubbly bitya. Hamri Bhaanji. Bohot hi pyaari hai." She kissed her cheeks.

The evil by heart, the evil by brain and with the devil etched in various and every single bone of his body, he was a man that exampled perfect enthusiasm for his favourite things. His determination and never ending wants kept him going but the evil cannot be hidden for long.

In the dark of the night I was tossing and turning, And the nightmare I had was as bad as can be ---It scared me out of my wits ---A corpse falling to bits! Then I opened my eyes --- And the nightmare was...me!!

Like a wayward ship helped by the lighthouse, her personality was shown a better change by Khushi. Her persona just needed to be scrubbed, when a loving and selfless person showed it's colours. A true friend and a true lover!

First thing early morning, I'm gonna pack my tears away...Got no cause to look back, I'm lookin' for me a better way. You see the thing 'bout love, Is that it's not enough...If the only thing it brings you is pain, There comes a time when we could all make a change ... Some times love can work out right, Sometimes you'll never know it...But if it brings only pain in your life, Don't be afraid to let it go. Just let go, And let it flow, let it flow, let it flow.

The eternal villain who showed no signs of changing, who used an orphan as bait to quench her greed. The only good she did was to leave a trail of mistakes behind her, like every thief does and bless a son like Aarav in our Arnav and Khushi's life.

Khushi telling Sheetal : I think it's time we got this straight, let's sit and talk face to face. There is no way you could mistake him for your man, Are you insane? The man is mine. You need to give it up. Had about enough. It's not hard to see, The man is mine. I'm sorry that you seem to be confused. He belongs to me ... the man is mine.

A kid who commit no mistakes yet he had to suffer by some random persons. A heart wanting to bath in love and needed the parental influence which was finally gifted to him. The charming junior ASR.

May not be perfect in other relations but was a perfect brother to Manorama, filling her with the spices of life she was left behind with. Hamare Masala Mama.

A lady with lots of love and determination to fight for her family. Who treated her son in laws as her own sons and loved all remaining happy despite of not having her own family. IPKKND would have not been complete without her and her apparent yet not visible Nand Kishore.

The road is long ... With many a winding turn that leads us to who knows where, But I'm strong ... Strong enough to carry him, He ain't heavy, he's my brother. So on we go, His welfare is of my concern, No burden is he to bear, We'll get there... For I know, He would not encumber me ... He ain't heavy, he's my brother.

A lady of principles and manners. Loved her both daughters equally setting an example for the others. Everyone falls in the traps, she was not the only one but never could she intentionally be a hurdle in her both daughter's lives.

Crown of my beloved ones ... My dear. You more precious than my blood and my soul. You so tender and full of goodness. May God keep you from any harm. May God keep you by myside ... Crown of my beloved ones ... My dear.

The lucky one who got a free seat in everyone's laps, enjoyed everyone's company and if there was someone other than Khushi to irritate Arnav more, it was hamari Laxmi who sat on his bed without his permission or might have eaten his plants in his absence. She was the background singer and a co-singer to Khushi in singing Aaj Mausam hai Suhana'

You've gotta meet this fella, living down on RM, because she's pretty cool and mellow, she's the queen of the barn ... She's Laxsmi the Goat --- She's Laxsmi the Goat. She even mucks about with those who cannot bleat - Keep it in mind, She's one of a kind, Oh... Life's a treat with Laxsmi ji. She doesn't miss a trick or ever lose a beat -She's always ready with a trick to save the day ... a good solution's not a million miles a way.

The wise woman she was who overlooked happiness or others yet tend to keep them happy and content. She was easily trapped too but say it as her nonchalant behaviour which provoked her to keep the mask of blindness on her eyes till the end. Neither the principle nor her character was to be blamed, but maybe the circumstances every time.

Failing the athletes with their speed, failing concrete for their strong souls, beating scared kittens for getting frightened, they set correct examples every time here. Thanks to their one and only Boss, ASR.

A loving father to Akash who was raised very efficiently and a perfect husband to Manorama as she wished. With bearing all the expenses of her tantrum queen wife, he remained calm and composed ever till he got old. He is the one to receive many awards for his pillar like life with a wife like this.

Of course we've had storms, 20 years of Love, that's passion.A 1000 times you've packed your bags, A 1000 times I've taken my flight/.../ nothing is the same anymore, You've lost the taste of water and I the taste of conquest. But ... oh my love, my sweet, my tender, my marvelous love, from the clear dawn till the end of the day, I love you still, you know, i love you.

Hai dhoop sa wo agar, wo chandni raat si hai"the 28 year old arrogant ,"What the" Arnav Singh Raizada Harvard-educated, suave, wealthy, ruthless, business tycoon of AR industries in Delhi and the low middle 18 year girl from Lucknow, traditional, principled, righteous, spirited, chirpy Sankadevi, Khushi Kumari Gupta---never was there a couple more mismatched! Yet they were thrown together in a nameless relationship and unknown to themselves bound in an epic mohabbat that began with their volatile nafrat. However hard they tried to push each other away, their dhadkans became one. In Arnav, Khushi found a modern liberal man who gave her the freedom to be herself while Khushi led her Laad Governor from his dark painful past to a starlit sky of their ajeeb pyaar for always and hamesha.

The conservative calm jodi of Akash Payal is diametrically opposite and complimentary to the unconservative fiery jodi of Arnav Khushi. Khushi's jiji, Payal and Arnav's cousin, Akash meet and fall in love in a quiet, shy maturemanner that is so cute. Their restrained love is sometimes so maddening that you feel like goading them into action! But both possess strength of character and an old worldly charm that makes them so lovable. Their greatest credit is theirunquestioned faith and support for Arnav Khushi.

Since morning, he was feeling restless- neither did his dramatic mother mutter Hey Devi Maiya!' when he had spilled over the entire content of sweets nor did his ever strict dad say his usual 'what the!' when he accidentally crushed his new plant. He should have been happy, but his little heart was feeling sad. He thought back to that day of the Mrs. India competition when he had addressed Khushi as 'Ma' and ever since then, their relationship had grown forth by leaps and bounds.

On the other end of the house, Khushi nudged her husband to go call their son. A true carbon copy of her Arnavji, she didn't realize when the little boy created a space for himself in her heart, so much that she was ready to leave everything behind in order to fetch happiness for him. Her motherly instincts had immediately come to the fore when the ashram lady wanted to take Aarav back, and she had pestered her husband to adopt the little one as their own, legally.

As Arnav traced the steps to his son's bedroom, he couldn't help but smile at his wife's little efforts to make this day special for their son. Their relationship as a couple had added a new dimension the day they had adopted Aarav legally into their family. He entered his bedroom to find little Aarav sitting at one corner and sulking. No one loves me dad, he exclaimed. Arnav smirked and told him about a surprise waiting downstairs.

As Aarav happily ran down the steps to reach the living room, he was overjoyed to find the entire place decorated with balloons and cartoons while his whole filmy family screamed in unison, "Happy Birthday Aarav!"

Friendship , it wouldn't have mean anything if you would have said the word to him some months ago. Arnav Singh Raizada was a ruthless person. But if Khushi's love played a role in changing him then so did every person associated in his life played an equally important role. Lavanya with her charming way, Di with her sisterly love , Akash with his kind heart, Payal with her calm demeanour, Mamiji with her ability to remain happy no matter what the situation. Cool Headedness from his Mamaji, Discipline from his Nani, Helping Nature and Loyalty from Aman and most importantly the quality to forgive from Khushi. Friends and Family are the people which make you a better person. Its Friendship and their toghetherness which made Arnav Singh Raizada a better person and he knew it.

Arnav was her "papad ka tudka... gussewala Chhotey"and she was his "toffee se mithi... sabse siyani Anjali Di", two siblings, different in outlook but bonded in heart. "Mujhe is duniya se koi matlab nahi, meri asli duniya to aap ho" is how Arnav described his relationship with his Di. To the world he was the rude, arrogant, khadoos ASR but for his sweet, smiling, kind Di with the 'pooja thali' he was the ever protective caring brother who made it his life mission's to protect his gullible sister from all suffering and pain. After their mother's shocking death, hers was the lap he could lay his head and cry in and she was his source of strength in his arduous journey to become a self made man. From the easy light fun teasing between the siblings to the depth of sacrifice they were willing to make for each other, Arnav Anjali are the best lovingbrother sister duo in the world!

Perhaps it was the offscreen friendship that translated perfectly into the believable, fun and contemporary onscreen relationship between Akash and Arnav Singh Raizada. In his soft spoken polite manner Akash managed to often spot his bhai's unexpected response to Khushi. ASR himself, in an amused indulgent fashion, was often relatively carefree with his younger cousin. Akash had an unflinchingLakshman like devotion towards his bhai, while ASR knew he could depend on Akash without fail. In all that changed over time in IPK, this bonding between the two brothers always remained unshakable and entertaining, giving us delightful moments from mock suicide plan for Payal, escaping NK's arrival, new year's eve to the legendary bachelor party planning.

Right from the start when Anjali welcomed Khushi into Shantivan they formed a strong bond of mutual affection. These two cornerstones to Arnav Singh Raizada's happiness were closest to each other when his di consoled Khushi with a hug, as the young girl cried missing her own mother on the day of asr and anjali's mother's barsi. Anjali was instrumental in ensuring Khushi remain in ASR's life, from literallyblackmailing her to return to Shantivan to being the clueless reason of the contract marriage. Try hard as evil Shyam might, ASR's di and her Khushiji's relationship survived and thrived through it all. Fond memories of the mischievous smiling di teasing her Khushi bhabhi, as she did on that magical Holi, will always be there as integral reminders of how well IPK understood relationships.

Payal Kumari Gupta and Khushi Kumari Gupta were not born of the same parents, but they were sisters and friends in the sweetest sense of the words . On the outside, Payal was the responsible, calm and steady one, while Khushi was the morevivacious, sometimes resourceful, more often madcap, younger sister. However, when Khushi needed protection, Payal was ready to stand up to the intimidating Arnav Singh Raizada , just as Khushi was willing to enter into a contract marriage for her di's happiness. Surprisingly similar in their simple loving ways, were these two sisters who would together dream about rajkumars, wish upon shooting stars and share happiness and tears. No wonder Devi maiyya made sure both sisters wed into the same house.

Could Nandkishore help Arnav get over his stubborn self and confess his love to Khushi?

Instead, the smitten couple have their first couple fight on New Year's Day.

Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon?

Like a drop of blood into his barren bod, like the pearl bead of the first rain in the season, it was just a matter of slipping and she entered his life like a whoosh of fresh air with a new found hope. Just like a new bud bathes in colours, his dull life began to slip into the coral colours that he had once left behind. It was just a matter of a second where the hatred filled eyes clashed with the petrified ones and give birth so a series of Rabba Ve's.

He was angry, hell angry on her. But he would make her pay he would make up his loss by making her model for AR. And teach her a lesson she will never forget in her entire life. He rushed down the stairs in order to see her, he wanted to witness her state, after all she should know what happens when you try to ruin Arnav Singh Raizada's work. But as he descended down the stairs he saw the most beautiful sight in front of his eyes. Khushi Kumari Gupta clad in a Red saree with little diamond bordering at its end. What was she ? The eighth wonder ? What the... ? What the hell are you thinking. And what the hell is this music I am hearing in the background ? Rabba Ve what the heck is that ? Ughh...I have gone officially mad in her company.

She was shivering as she locked his eyes with his burning eyes. As if his stare alone will burn her alive. Desire flamed through her. A feeling unknown clamped her insides. Light tingling was going on in her stomach. She was sure it was acidity, Ughh what the heck is wrong with me? And what is this music playing ? Rabba ve? I mean seriously ? Khushi you need a psychiatrist very soon.

Khushi stood in the rain, shivering, lost and flustered. All at once, she saw the bright headlights of the approaching car but any attempt to move failed her. Swiftly, she was crushed into a cage of sheer steel. She closed her eyes as her arms automatically went around her savior. She felt safe cocooned within those brawny arms. It was still raining but she was safe against that warm thudding heart. Her hands slowly slide down to the strapping chest.

She opened her eyes to look at the steel face of her tormentor. Her eyes locked with the cruel Laad Governor and she turned into a statue. Once again she felt the upheaval within her chest as she starred into the liquid fire within his eyes. He jerked her away from himself and turned but before that he saw the hurt in her eyes. He was not happy to see her in pain.

Khushi's vulnerability stirred something inside of Arnav and he could not take his eyes off her drenched body. He knew what he was doing was wrong, but he was nothing if not stubborn.

Khushi sent a silent prayer to the stars above,

With grit to control intact, Arnav sneered at the fools who fall in Love.

And, so they kept crossing paths, their lives like threads entwined,

Her shimmering hazels now rule his core, such mystical mediation of the divine.

Unknown feelings stir deep, He couldn't bear the tears in her eyes,

Yet she stood amidst the storms of emotions, at the mercy of his callous reprise.

He is the one who gives the wound, the one with the healing powers,

As the universe conspires and the stars align for the destined lovers.

What is this desire, restlessness, unexplained yearning called?

What is this feeling of belonging named?

Walls crumbled, doubts dissolved, wounds healed, and flames have come alive,

Where hate once had its den, now dreams cherish, love fearlessly thrives.

His perfect world now compiled in his absolute devotion to Her,

Her life before she belonged to him a mere blur,

Khushi clutched her thumping heart, emotions yawning anew,

Tu hi bata mere Maula, Iss Pyaar Ko Kya naam doon?

We, sometimes, doesn't want to come across certain people. We try our best to stay away from that person but when all the forces planned against you what will you do?

Still not recovered from humiliation which the Video brought her and her family back in Lucknow, Khushi decided to help her Buaji financially.Fortunately orUnfortunately, she lands in the office of her not-so-acquainted-but-life-changingNemesis, ASR.

Soon, they came to face-to-face after a small stunt by her even though it is unknown to her.It was too late for each of them to back out, after all the war had just begun.

The mighty ASR may be for the first time in his life, deliberately concentrated on an unknown middle class girl who had the audacity to mess with him. The same class girl took his every challenge, and with her craziness, hard work and determination-to-prove-him-wrong, completed all the tasks thrown at way.

A scenario which showcased their feelings in different light is the photoshoot.

This time to defeat the self confident KKG, he ordered her to wear a western outfit which she never does.Shocking and surprising him, she came out wearing a red saree. His heart beats are going with Dhak Dhak and she was is in same condition.

Arnav may be successful in making cry at the end but it was all a facade to digest the fact that she is evoking these feelings in him.

The worst scenario she was made to face and the beat scenario we viewers enjoyed is 'the guest scene'. As punishment for interfering in his personal life, she was sent there.

Arnav Singh Raizada, for the first time, ran towards the old, almost broken house to rescue the soon-to-be owner of his treacherous heart which runs a million times faster in her presence.

It was the first time, she was enraged on him, scared for him but still couldn't forget him in the darkness of the collapsing building.
It was the first time, it mattered to him, his care for her poured out of his stony heart.
It was the first time they had different feelings other than hate.
It was first she hugged him and the first time we had enjoyed their closeness which this time is not the result of their hatred.

Where does a journey begin? Where does it end? Did this one start with a man in a bad mood rushing into a car and turning on the ignition? Or did it actually take off with a girl on a scooter, a boy in a helicopter, each seeking a destination, one fine day in Lucknow? The city of Bhoolbhulaiya, of getting lost to find your way.

But first some pakora. Did you just wake up in the boot of a car and reach for a box full of pakora and never stopped munching or talking? Did you just grimace darkly and looked incredulously at a girl and go "what the!" And who ran away with your clothes leaving you looking so pretty in a wedding joda? And who told you to look so good with a lassi moustache on your upper lip?

She said you'd eloped. did you wish you had? How coolly you picked her up and took her to that honeymoon suite. And terrorised her... oh, you're mean.

but look at you next morning, rushing off to look for her as memory came. And with that, contrition.

The tenderest sweetest moments between a man and a woman who were not headed toward each other, but all routes changed and took unwarranted twists and turns and bypasses and diversions only so that you could reach each other...

Via car, phone call to aman (what an introduction), bluetooth, jungle, ditch, caaman sense, dhaba, lassi, nahiiin!, shhh!, shit!, haan maar daloonga isse isski himmat kaisi hui tumhe... etc., Arnav Sing Raizada and Khushi Kumari Gupta found themselves in a place that was definitely not Nainital... but could anyone say, the destination had not been reached.

The growing feeling of their presence in each other's life was making them restless .They both seem getting lost in each others every second of their lives. Both couldn't resist taking their eyes off from each other no matter what .Their hearts were yearning with this cindering longing and that scream was clear to both hearts and eyes. She sees him every where and finds him right inside of her tiny heart which was unable to handle the ocean of his love ..this acidity of Dhak Dhak was able to reach him every time.."Har Bar ...Hamesha" ...and he couldn't resist showing his vulnerability either ... His oozing passion was felt to her core during removing dust from her eyes , during fairy lights and while dressing her with anklet. He couldn't blink either while inhaling her beauty yet his proactive side towards her got stronger. She jolted him up just by mere word of "Marriage " and he fell taking her in his cocoon spreading all the colors of rangoli around them.

Among all of those colors, she appeared in red ,among Diyas...smiling ...by raising his heartbeat and his feet followed the rhythm of intoxicated color which was not only enveloping her along with him but also making him forget all of his pain, ego and his past. She closed her eyes in her consent , ready to seal an inebriated deal under his touch which was playing havoc at that moment .Lips come closer with longing and neeed but these aspiring desires got halted by his fear of love.He announced his wedding wish with La by shattering her and his own heart .He called all this a bluff byaccusing her of as a gold digger."means nothing to me..."

Khushi accepts that her strength is Arnav. He is the one who made her realize true love the most important part of her life.

Arnav and Khushi are meant to be together always.

Iss Pyar Ko Kya Naam Doon?

Arnav and Khushi, a name of courtship among deals in between them. Both accept each others' challenge to defeat in sangeet but the purpose was the same ,just to win each other. A song which depicts their inner turmoil so well brings them closer than ever...as The Music begins and the dance starts ...Khushi turns to leave but Arnav holds her hand with determination "teri meri ,meri teri yeh kahani hai mushkil"...He makes her twirl into his arms making her to lean on him... .."ek ladka aur ek ladki ki yeh kahani hai naye'do lafzoon mein yeh bayan na ho paye"...Khushi follows the rhythm which brings a smile on his face...which stirs her heart seeing his desirous eyes and she moves away.

While Arnav's determination doesn't stop to expresses his state of mind openly ...pouring his yearnings at her by caressing her with his soft touch , holding her in his safe cocoon, and awakening her trust in him again .His yearnings and longings since from the beginning made him restless and today he can't stop expressing his feelings at all .

He guides her hand to glide it on his face as this is hard for her too to resist...she melts in for a moment when he picks her up in air and then glissades her body against his hard visage by claiming her his ...Their cravings for each other are burning both of them ,but Khushi has been incinerated once on Diwali, shows her hesitancy. "Ek Duje se hue Juda jab ek doje keh liye bane "..but Arnav tries to stop her from leaving by reminding her all of the longing moments which are always special for them. She walks back to him and holds his hand gazing attentively into his remorseful yet passionate eyes while darkness prevails holding their yearnings only in between them away from the world. He tells her later, "Main Shart khabi nahin harta" and here he won her heart once again. Indeed both have won and lost their hearts in this courtship of Deals as always.

"GASP! 12 bajne waale hain! (Its going to be midnight!)"

Dhak dhak dhak dhak dhak dhak...

A man's heart was beating secretly watching her childish excitement.

"10...9...8...Jiji! wake up na! ...5.4...3...2...1...

JIJI!!!" She turns to wake up her jiji but stops in her track...soft notes of "rabba ve" kick in...one that gave away how badly they wanted to see the sakkals they tried to avoid all day.

bhaat new years? bher new year? bhich new year? there was no sense of time here for it had stood still yet again.

her eyes met his and they stared at the very shakkals they tried and tried to avoid ever since NK mentioned the belief that the face you see at midnight will be of one you will see all year. They snap out of it for some classic ARSHI nok jok. there is anger there is screaming and there was a hand on top of pink luscious full lips.

There was a hunger to find out by a naive Sanka devi to find out why a rakshas is the way he is.

After and angry predatory walk toward her there was an answer to the question.

she saw his pain and suffering. The pain this bedard duniya had put him through since he was only 14. fake glittery lights don't hide the ugliness for Arnav Singh Raizada.

Alas there was another dhaga that brought them closer. always clashing always loving it. It was buaji's glue that brought his to her that night, indeed it was a good quality one as Akaash had mentioned in this pitiful state.(Poor guy)...they did stick to each other not soon after for better or for worse.

Some bonds are created out of love, while some are created out of respect and there are some bonds which are created out of hatred. But the Hate Marriage of Arnav and Khushi was a bond which was created out of both intense love and immense hatred, which sprung out from the helplessness of a brother and a sister. Both bound themselves in this complicated bond, to save the marriages of their sisters. The tag line said, ' Hatred doesn't let them come close and Love doesn't let them getdistanced' but it was reversed at that instant. It was not completely out of love that the marriage took place. It was hatred which overpowered the love Arnav had for Khushi and caused the marriage.

It was not just a marriage but it was a storm which shook their lives and broke their hearts. From there it began, the story of love in the language of pain, written with the blood of the heart and tears of the eyes.

He dragged her to the stairs of the Temple, dragged her in front of his family to face the wrath , Her family abandoned her , but she remains quiet ...She comes to him ..Her strong belief, her Arnavji who makes things right..She shares her deepest fears of being an orphan again and asks him the reason of the marriage, but he remainsquiet. His fights with himself what to believe or not and today makes him to seek answers. He's been tired of her silence , not fighting back as he can't take her distance for him but today Khushi has had enough of this for impenetrable behavior of him too. The girl who has been estranged isolated from her loved ones refuses to break down but matches his frustration, his anger by openly stating he has ruined her life.

The man of whom she had woven such beautiful dreams is the one who has shattered them into a thousand pieces and he dares to question her.. Lioness is back!. At the intense and furious peak of their emotions ,Arnav shouts out desolately that he hates her ..and Then a sudden stillness around his heart passes by making him realize what a blunder he has made .The shock upon his face as he uttered these words and the wish to take them back was evident.. the fear that her answer will shatter that bit of hope he lived on but the moment and the words which he was escaping and dreading to hear since the terrace scene is right here, HER declaration .. loud and clear.."I hate you too...".

His heart stops at this moment as the hope he had been clinging on to is crushed under her confirmed words. "nobody can love you...because you just deserve hate".. that one reality hits him.. and that moment he realized that he still did care for what she felt for him and don't want her to hate him.Because her words "aap jitni karte hain uss se kahin ziyada.." [ more than you hate me..] put him on halt and he turned at her as this is the cue for him that she feels for him but too late.

The music had a lilt to it... a trippy traipsy feel. Jo Pehle Hua Na Ab Hone Laga Hai... what hasn't happened before has started happening now.
And what was happening before our rapt eyes and Shyam's horrified gaze was anintense tango... of Nafrat Paas Aane Na De Mohabbat Door Jaane Na De.

Nani and Di along with Mami and Mama ji had played a lovely family charade. Dilli mein Bali. If ASR and Khushi and Akash and Payal couldn't go to Bali for their honeymoon, no problem, Bali would come to Shantivan. And there, before all else, especially the snaky Shyam, a man in brown with a lock of hair breaking the gel rule and falling over his forehead, staked his claim over his slightly confused and hurting, totally beautiful wife.

Barun Sobti and Sanaya Irani gave us a thrilling tango... gaze, embrace, rage, andlove in it. Its passion was spiked by hate and a desperate need. Every throw, catch, pull, turn, twirl and lift spoke of possession, haq. Sheer gorgeous haq.

Jo Mere Dil Ke Paas Hai
Naye Jaadu Naye Ehsaas Hain

Hoye Aise Mein Kya Karun
Kya Karun Tu Hi Bata
Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon

Di handed her a thread and needle and said she must sew on his shirt button. ASR couldn't protest, nor Khushi. But when Di left, he stayed her hand and said curtly, "Di ja chuki hai, drama karne ki koi zaroorat nahin hai!" Di has left, stop the drama.

The needle pierced her finger just then, and he couldn't hide his feelings... "Khushi! ... Sorry!"

A moment of only pain, only longing passed.

Then in a downcast voice her reply that brought a stunning poignancy to their story... "dhaga hume zabardasti thamna pada... hamari marzi nahin thi... lekin ab jab bandh liya hai toh..." the sentenced didn't have to be completed.

She'd had to hold that string ...she hadn't wanted to... but now that it had been tied. Yes, Khushi was a girl like that. She believed in the sanctity of relationship. She had been forced to marry him, but now that it was done... she'd do everything to keep it intact, not let it get ripped asunder.

Oh, love has such a way of going beyond the rules and norms set by us.

He couldn't say anything, just watch her as she completed her task, then leaned over, right close to his heart and snapped the thread with her teeth. A poised ballet like grace to the whole scene, every movement.

Kyon Dard Hai Itna had to rise and rend the air.

What would you do if the one you loved the most on this earth were taken awayfrom you? You had no idea where they'd gone... no idea if they were safe or not. How would you live? How would you calm yourself and think straight?

What would you do if the one you loved so much you couldn't live without her and yet you'd hurt her like perhaps no one else ever had, were far far away, beyond your reach? While you were tied and gagged and bound, no idea if you'd live to see her again.

It was in this dark hopeless hour that beautiful clarity perhaps came.
She yearned for him and in the most beautiful soliloquy ever spoken by a soulful lover, she understood the meaning of her nafrat. She understood what it really was.

Kuch rishte ajeeb hi dor mein bandhe hote hai...
And he finally was ready to acknowledge, nothing else mattered... only she...
Khushi... Khushi... ro mat... Khushi, I love you.

It's said Barun's going away to shoot a film brought on this Separation Track. Well, he was never really gone, often shooting double shifts. And necessity led to fascinating invention that only Arnav and Khushi could portray with such beauty. Remember Khushi, I love you, Aoge Jab Tum Balma, a pompom in Arnav's palm, a dream of Khushi, Teri Meri, telepathy, first hug, second hug, hut scene, This is not FUNNY!

Some Separations are just unforgettable.

He tells her the reason of this marriage with the fear of distance in between her...fear of losing her after her suicide attempt .That fear changes into reality and he gets kidnapped. She finds him and both shared the most intimate and raw cravings for each other. He hands over himself to the kidnappers again for the sake of her safety. Distance brings their hearts again in a rhythmic harmony once again .The cravings become need to be with each other and that brings them in the same frame where they can feel, hear and talk to each other. Both share their pure and deep beliefs which they hold within their hearts for a very very long time..Teri meri takes a nee angle here and A deep ,pure Passion starts flowing with wings of love and care . The passion which started the day when this angel fell in his arms and a heated desire surged through them which they both fought with intensity within their hearts and minds for months . But ,after dancing at the tunes of their fate, these two souls have finally found each other .The Love and passion which has been bubbling within their core, all this time has seeped in their visage in such a way that their unconscious minds and souls have connected with each other from miles away.

Khushi , an angel approaches in white and blue...a pure and honest soul to release her knight in white shedding all the doubts aside and releases him from all of the worries by her touch and he couldn't believe it after realizing that she is his, and only his since she has confessed submitted herself in his arms , in his life..."It matters because of you..." . They both are willing to submit their souls putting all inhibitions ,misunderstandings , fears, confusions and barriers aside.

Tum Mujhe chhor kar nahi jaa sakti Khushi, tumhe wapas ana hi hoga'

With the dainty body that laid in his arms, he had uttered those words of desperation, dedication and yearning. She had to wake up.

How could she not? After all her lover was ready to make her come back to life and for that he was willing to go to any lengths.

Her eyes fluttered open feeling the balm of his melodious heartbeats. They cried, they smiled and finally, her wooer carried on the ritual like all the Princes in the fairy tales does. Gathering her form in his arms, he walked to their personal heaven!

Everyone suspected ASR would do something special for Khushi once he'd come back home after the excruciating and harrowing days of kidnap. He loved her, he was a man of conscience, he knew their wedding had been far from what she'd imagined her wedding would be. He'd do something special for her.

No one however was quite prepared for Dadi and her venomous tongue. In fact, just before the entire issue of marriage came up, a tumultuous night had passed. A man had yelled exasperatedly, angrily when a woman had asked him what then has meaning, if no ritual, no social custom has any, he'd shouted in that thrilling way of his, "That I love you, dammit!" She had heard the essence of that declaration in his gussa supreme... and her face had crumpled with a sweet accepting lover like smile, she'd gone back to their room, to the bed she had rejected earlier, and waited for him. But alas, he had been too agitated to come back.

When he returned he found his paternal grandmother casting terrible aspersions on his beloved, legally married (as he clearly mentioned) wife. He'd have fought and won this battle too his way, even if his entire family were against him, but then he saw his wife's tremulous vulnerable expression... and in an instant he took a decision that took everyone's breath away. Including his wife's.

Okay, if that's the case, said Arnav Singh Raizada, he'd marry his wife, his patni... once more, with all customs and rituals, in the socially accepted way.

And so we came to the "Remarriage " of Khushi Kumari Gupta Singh Raizada and her pati, her husband.

Every ritual he didn't believe in one little bit, he learned and observed perfectly... because he loved her. Nothing else. Just as she, in a stunning acceptance of the unfathomable nature of love, had done whatever she could to stand by her marriage. A marriage which was nothing like what she'd wanted, where she was forced and coerced and never given a chance or choice. Yet she had believed that sindoor andmangalsutra he gave her meant something, meant this was forever.

If one marriage had been forced on her, one had been practically forced on him too. They both found the most moving ways to show why they are the lovers we can never forget. They showed us how magnificent a relationship can really be and not confined by conventional notions of practically anything.

Khushi, who was so badly hurt by his actions and went into many harmless plans to teach him a lesson, thought nothing of playing on her life to save him when she sensed he was in danger. In fact, she never ever stopped loving him, nor could she take off her sindoor and mangalsutra... no matter how bitterly they fought, or how many times she planned to leave him.

Endearing beautiful love. At Shagun he was "technically" correct when he came to see her and she admitted she had always belonged to him. At Roka, he dragged her to the poolside and there was the tumult of
"Aane do, aane do, aane do", during Kuldevi Puja, he entered the temple just to be by her side when she asked for blessings, then came Mehendi and a man calling aside his wife to tie her dori... he who had so brutally snapped it once.

All along he pointed out to her they'd been through many of these rituals in an Arnav Khushi way, though neither had realsied it then.

The days of Remarriage brought gems one after the other... "Mat jao", biggest deal, a cheek coming closer and closer at Haldi, "Love can reduce anyone to anything", bachelor party, Namak Ishq Ka, episode 248 and a night unbelievably beautiful, and so much more, till at last we heard, "Aana toh tha hi"... till at last they took those pheres she had so longed for her... till at last he lifted her up in his arms and crossed the threshold bringing her back home, to him, to them... to hamesha.

He doesn't believe in rituals, so of course everything about Karwa Chauth he questions. Most of all he can't bear to see her go without food. He knows how important food is to his mad jhalli wife.

She is resplendent in the flaming colours of her love for him. Her first Karwa Chauth... and for him, for him only, she wants to do it, despite the rumbles in her stomach, she is loving every moment of this.He is looking hotter than ever in a midnight blue kurta pyjama, she is beautiful in red and very hungry. He is hungry too it seems... but only for her.

After all, this is the poolside, and she wears that colour he loves... that took them all the way to Diwali... that almost, sigh, kiss.. That night there was no moon and tonight it's a wait for that very object in the sky... the moon, which brings its own message with it... like those stars do. Some love stories are written not only on earth, even the heavens want a role in them.

He tries to trick her into eating. She's angry... all she's trying to do is live happily with him for hamesha, and she believes if she does this vrat, painful as it is for her, thathamesha might be stretched a little longer.

Only Khushi could say that. Only Arnav could feel that love so instantly and be contrite. Could he do anything to make it better? Yes, he could get her the moon.

He does. Of course. And though this scene had been done before in some far away film somehwere, it becomes another uniquely Arnav Khushi moment.

Their reflections dance in the water of their pool, that witness to their story of nafrat of mohabbat. The reflections begin to turn. The rhythm of their communicationtakes a new turn. A need a heat twirls in... he holds her hand but then slips behind her, drwing himself closer, she closes her eys... and again a dance begins... Ab Na Jaa.Never ever go away.

F r i e n d s and l o v e r s

They were the most entrancing lovers on screen and the most whacky friends off it. If Arshi made us go dhakdhak and dizzy, SaRun made us giggle and laugh and sigh and want their relationship to always be this blessed and happy.

Sanaya Irani and Barun Sobti met while making Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon? and seem to have hit it off soon. She was a tad senior to him in the industry but that didn't get in the way of their becoming good friends. When we saw their offscreens it was quite evident nothing was being put on for the sake of publicity... it was all mad laughter filled, slightly tired in the middle of the shoot, SaRun vibe. He called her Tintin or even Kabootri, she always had that indulgent tone in her voice when speaking of him, making him carry weights, pulling his hair, talking about ahem "gas".

Ah too many memories.

And wonderfully enough, the entire cast got along beautifully. Akshay and Barun were very close. Everyone loved Daljeet. Abhaas, Karan, Deepali, Sana... there was this vibrant congenial air on the sets and even the older actors, Jayshree T, Abha Parmar, Utkarsha Naik, all seemed to be completely at ease with each other. Actually several creatives also were good friends; Gautam Hegde, Arshad Khan and Lalit Mohan among them.

No doubt at all, this camaraderie and trust in the team and their crazy loopy fun times added that IPKKND element to the show. It's been more than two years they aren't working together, yet many of them remain friends, meeting regularly. In fact, it all feels like one big happy family...

Not surprising, the show led to many friendships... even among viewers. On forums, on Facebook, across borders and age. Till date, people meet over Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon? and become good friends. Like we have and Cheers! to that.

Here's to that special thing called real friendship and that hamesha thing called love.

Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon? The name of the show itself give me chills. How to describe it? Impossible *DAMMIT*! IPKKND is more than a show to me. I've felt every episode, felt every feeling, every goosebump, every joy and every tear. I remember those moments when I used to be online to catch the episodes, when I almost forced my "foreign" friends at uni to watch Arnav Singh Raizada's entry and they were saying "Maria you became crazy"...Those were the crazy days.

And today, we're celebrating the 4th anniversary. Times fly so quickly but the intensity is still the same.

Happy 4th Anniversary my IPKKND! Thanks for giving us epic moments to cherish hamesha ke liye. There are many things that happen in your life, some go and are forgotten but IPKKND will never fade away with time.
The show will be remembered and cherished for years and years to come.
Shirley.

Happy Fourth Anniversary IPKKNDians, am unable to believe its 4 years since IPK started, it still looks so fresh and new. IPK is very close to me, I have never been this close to any show, like I am crazy for this show, I loved everything damn thing in show...the actors and co-actors, in fact the whole cast of IPK. The chemistry between Arnav and Khushi is unmatchable, they have Amazing chemistry and that's one reason that they won, not one or two but many "Best Jodi Award" and that makes me so proud and I can even say that IPKKND is the best show in the Indian Television ever and many would agree with that. I do miss IPK, but then they say, "The most beautiful moments always seemed to accelerate and slip beyond one's grasp just when you want to hold onto them for as long as possible." E.A. Bucchianeri.
