Actress Maggie Gyllenhaal's comment on sexism has taken the social media by storm. In a post that she shared on her micro-blogging accounts, she said, "There are things that are really disappointing about being an actress in Hollywood that surprise me all the time. I'm 37 and I was told recently I was too old to play the lover of a man who was 55. It was astonishing to me. It made me feel bad, then it made me feel angry and then it made me laugh."

And in Bollywood they seem to think it's so different in Hollywood.

Sexist ageism exists just as much in Hollywood.

Their actresses constantly complain about not getting roles once they get near 40.

Yes there is ONE Meryl Streep.

But we also have our very own Rekha - who had a continuous filmography covering every year from 1969-2007.

I think it's actually down to the actresses themselves. They decide to get married and start a family with kids, and choose to stay at home. From Sridevi to Karisma...

Rekha didn't do that.

Kajol is one who has found a somewhat balance (although I'd love her to do a lot more work) - and Dimple Kapadia before her juggled both (after her initial career break).
