It's final. Sandeep Sachdev is the biggest loser - the guy who is actually the winner of Sahara One's Biggest Loser Jeetega. When Sandeep entered the show he weighed 124.9 kgs. At the end of the show he lost 50.70 kgs beating the other finalists Natasha Grover who lost 38.5 kgs and Hiren Bhawsar lost 47.8 kgs.
Fighting with flab was not an easy task, but Sandeep managed to win, giving tough competition to co-contestants Natasha and Hiren.
Thrilled at his new-found stardom Sandeep says, "I'm extremely happy. After three months of hard work, the sense of achievement is just overwhelming. It's too good to be true," he says.
As per the contract, the losers are entitled to get Rs 1 lakh for losing every one kg, which works out to Rs 50.70 lakh in Sandeep's kitty. How does he plan to invest the booty? "I know it's a huge amount and I will invest it in real estate."
Close friend, actor Amit Sareen had suggested Sandeep's name to the makers of the reality show. Sandeep, a manager in the Standard Chartered Bank, applied for a three-month leave to participate in the show. "I really wanted to be a part of the show. Thankfully, my company was very co-operative and granted me the leave. The experience has really changed my life," he adds.
It wasn't easy for the participants to live a strictly controlled life in the Biggest Loser House. All contestants, including Sandeep, missed out on their favourite pass-time activities. Says Sandeep, "Being a movie buff I used to watch five movies a week before I got into the show. But in the Loser house I could not watch a single movie. Being in the business of shares, I could keep a track on where my money was going. Besides, adapting to a whole new bunch of people was not easy too," he says.
Sandeep certainly missed his favourite World Cup. He rues, "Imagine, being a great cricket fan I could not watch the World Cup! It was really sad to know that India lost the Cup so early. We had no access to television there," he adds.
Like Bigg Boss house, Biggest Loser house also had their share of rivalries. Sandeep could not get along well with Neeraj Paul. "I was comfortable with everybody except Neeraj. While everyone was playing the game with a true sportsman spirit, he was playing mind games, it was really annoying." But thankfully he has put all the bad blood behind. "The show is over and so are the rivalries. I think, he just wanted to win the competition and he did whatever was possible, even if it meant treading on other people's toes. But, I have no grudge against him any more," he says.
Recalling good times at the Loser house Sandeep says, "On Natasha's birthday we all wanted to catch Dr. Rizwan who was trying to escape from the party. In the scurry a co-contestant, Ajay Nagrath, slipped on the bathroom floor. Otherwise, we had great fun in the house," he adds.
Sandeep is the younger brother of actor Sumeet Sachdev aka Gautam of Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi. Does he intend following in his footsteps? "Suniel Shetty has offered me a role in his films, and so has Seemanto Roy. I love my profession and would love to get back to it. But, acting is not a bad option either. I am just out of the house and enjoying the bliss. I have yet to make a decision," he says.
Armed with a diamond solitaire gifted by the sponsors, this most eligible bachelor is out to have fun and is leaving for New Zealand for a holiday. He grins, "Well, I am definitely single and ready to mingle. I want to enjoy my freedom now. I am really thankful to Suniel for motivating me."
