Part 3

(Banner Credit to pd786)

A few days had gone by, and Ananya Kashyap was back in office after proving her capabilities, so on and so forth.

Life went on as usual. Manav Bhai had turned genuinely irksome and Khalid wasn't being too frank either. Kabir liked this new gush of power, its strength running through his veins like blood did, mixed with the red liquid.

It was the 18th of May. Seven years had gone by since he had got married to Shreya after a two year courtship and four years since they got separated.

People misinterpret the term, moving on' as ditching your partner and finding another one. Moving on, is moving ahead from the brief hiatus in your life, moving on is moving on with YOURSELF. People never understand that sometimes, you aren't enough for you. We need someone else to survive. We can't survive on our own after a point, and we need to move on so we can survive solitarily. Life isn't always kind to us in terms of solaces and support. We build our own support system.

In the process though, we tend to forget and leave a lot of things, like feeling happy for our own self, thanking the Almighty for giving us what we are.

Something similar happened with Kabir. He wasn't completely responsible for their divorce, but he wasn't scot free either. You need two hands to clap.

He had loved his wife. Heck, he still loves her. She was the only one ever, and no one could make him as vulnerable as she could. He didn't want to be fragile any longer. He didn't want to break. He couldn't handle being broken ever. He couldn't ever move on because no one had ever been even remotely close to Shreya.

She had been the best, and Kabir liked only the best. Anything less than that, would be second best and Kabir Sharma couldn't accept anything second.

An anniversary isn't a big deal when it came to... It was just another normal day, with flashes of his marriage in front of his eyes. There weren't tears anymore. They got dried up after a point.

There was just this bitterness buried deep within with years and years of hardwork and effort. It was there. Like a sore body ache. Like a bullet lodged in the body somewhere, which doesn't harm but isn't pleasant either.

But, he still wasn't sure if he could handle it if Shreya returned. Things weren't the same anymore. He had changed. Life had changed. He would give everything to go back to the TIME ages ago, when things were easier.

But, then, he wouldn't have this electric chair, he argued with himself, as he sipped his morning coffee.

"Aah. There is nothing like a hot cup of coffee to rejuvenate the senses." He murmured.

Shreya couldn't make coffee for nuts. For that matter, she couldn't cook even if she were invited to the White House. He laughed. He used to cook every day even after having an alternate day deal.

The Memory...

"Okay, then. Let us have a deal. I cook on Sundays, Wednesdays and Fridays. And you cook the remaining days. We'll have simple food on these days, and on the other days we'll have interesting, mazedaar khana. Say, Chinese on Monday, Italian..." Shreya went on as Kabir butted in,

"Italian on Tuesdays, Mexican on Thursdays and Ethiopan on Saturdays." He finished.

Shreya fervently nodded, giggling happily when it dawned on her, "Eh? Did you say Ethiopian on Saturdays? What on earth is that?" She asked with childlike confusion.

"Ahm.. it is a speciality in Ethiopia. It is an African country." Kabir replied with a straight face and dodged the cushion that his wife threw at him. "What? You wanted "variety" and I am going to make. Why would you worry? I'll leave office at ten at night, earlier than usual, I'll come back and prepare food, and we can eat soon enough by 1 and go to bed. What say?" He couldn't control anymore and started laughing at the mock look of hurt and anger on his beautiful spouse's face.

"Okay. I am sorry. You don't need to stretch the joke so much. I was kidding, obviously. I know you work for long hours, but so do I. I'll eat whatever you make. But, now, please be a darling and get me a cup of your delicious aromaadaar' coffee!" She widened her puppy dog eyes, and Kabir gave in. It was only her he did this for anyways, no one could sway him. "Have you invented a new word? What is aromaadaar?" He sniggered and went to the kitchen, but as he walked in, he stopped short looking around as if he had entered a battlefield and not a cooking area. "WHAT THE HELLL..." He shouted when Shreya cowered in, "I AM SO SORRY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! My fault, I wanted to bake a cake but you know, I cook so well, I managed to bake the kitchen instead." She held her ears with her hands, begging for forgiveness.

"Okay. Go, Don't try baking again, and I think we'll revise the cooking plan. I'll cook Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday. You do me a favour by not getting into the kitchen. Badi meherbani hogi aapki..." And they laughed...

The laughter echoing through the one bedroom apartment...

And Kabir was laughing.. Like actually laughing after years... Suddenly he realised he was running late and he would have to leave for work. The road to KKN, was dug as usual, and he had to use a longer route. Damn it. He rushed to get ready.

In a sea - facing apartment in Bandra, Mumbai, Shreya slept in the couch, in her work clothes after a super hectic day, nah, night at work. She worked in shifts in a huge software company making millions in a year. She was rich, powerful and beautiful. Though the beauty came from the fact that she wasn't very thin, and was curvy but never bothered about appearances. She would reach office in Bermudas and a Bazinga T Shirt and wave at everyone getting to work. Formal clothes made their appearance only for important board meetings, but by and large Google had an adaptable work culture.

She wasn't a tidy person either. Kabir was the OCD guy. In a marriage though, one of the partners needed to have OCD so they don't search for socks and hand kerchiefs in the morning, she thought as she woke up. She laughed. It was her ex-marriage anniversary today. If that even existed. Wow. " I keep inventing such awesome things. I think, this needs to be made public and she posted, Happy Ex-Marriage Anniversary to ME'. Everyone thought she was crazy anyways. It didn't matter.

Kabir had done very well for himself, and so had she. Probably, it was all for the best. Some things aren't destined to work. But, well... who ever believed in fate and destiny when we want things. She did miss Kabir. Oh, and she never went anywhere without like a gazillion bracelets in her hands.

A/N - This is not a KaYa story. I don't really ship them, so... I don't know the fate of this story. It depends on my mood and the track in the show. xD LIKE this if you want PMs next time. I am capricious when it comes to PMs... I still need a banner for the story, if anyone wants to volunteer. And my other works -

SS - Marriage Is A Private Affair

OS " Save the Internet!

Btw, since we havent been introduced to Kabir's wife, I am taking the liberty to assume someone as Shreya. The character that I imagined, she would be her -

I cannot believe I got a picture of Vahbiz in a yellow saree exactly as it came into my head. Just add a messy bun.😆
