Chapter 10

Zoya had gone to the airport to sendoff Asad to Mumbai. She was apprehensive about him going there but didn't want to say anything. If he knew that that she was worried, he would not concentrate on his work there. She wrapped her arms around him in an embrace and prayed that he returned to her safe and sound. They kept in constant touch through calls and messages. Zoya even visited Dilshad, at least once a day to check on her to make sure she was ok. Dilshad told Asad about this and he was at awe. That night, they were on the phone when he asked her about it. "How do you know?" she asked surprised. "I have sources you know," he replied, making her giggle. "What do you mean why I didn't tell you about visiting Aunty? She is like my mother and I don't need your permission to meet her," Zoya said authoritatively, which made Asad break out in a huge grin. He was just silent, "Asad, say something," she probed. "I love you!" he confessed causing her to turn pink. "When are you coming back?" Zoya said changing the topic. It has already been two days and she missed him, a lot. "I should hopefully be back by tomorrow night, I am meeting the lawyer in the morning to finalize the sale papers of the house," he told her. "That's good. And you already met Mr. Siddiqui?" she hesitantly asked. Zoya had tried to avoid this topic from the past 2 days. She didn't want to bring it up but he hasn't said anything either. Was that a good thing or bad? She didn't know. Asad took a minute before answering, "Yes I did. I submitted my official resignation, effective immediately," he said. "And all went well?" Zoya questioned. "Yes Zoya, don't worry I am fine, everything is fine. Take care of yourself, I will see you soon," Asad said. "I will. You too be careful," Zoya told him and they ended the call.

The next morning, Anwar told Zoya about Haider visiting them that afternoon. She stiffened at his words. After Zeenat had spoken to him that night, Anwar had been silent. He had not said a word to anyone which worried Zoya. Zeenat had tried to talk to him again but he had dismissed the conversation. And now he wants to invite Haider? Zoya thought scared about what was going on in her father's mind. She looked at her mother for help. "Anwar, what are you saying? How could you invite Haider?" Zeenat asked surprised. "Zeenat, I just invited them for dinner, what is the big deal?" Anwar retorted. "Anwar, after what happened, why did you have to invite them?" she said confused. "Because I want to clarify a few things, it is important," Anwar told her. "Abu please, I don't want to marry anyone other than Asad. At least give him a chance," Zoya pleaded. "Zoya, be ready tonight at 7. I want you to be there too," Anwar firmly stated. "But Abu, why do...," Zoya was speaking when Anwar's phone interrupted them. "I have to take this," Anwar said and left from there. "Ammi, what is going on?" Zoya asked concerned. "I don't know Zoya, this is the first I am hearing of it too," Zeenat replied. "Is he seriously going to marry me to Haider? Against my wish?" Zoya wondered out loud. Her body shook with fear just with the thought of it. "Zoya, I know Anwar is very rigid and stubborn in his ways but he would never hurt you beta. I am sure he won't do anything that will hurt you," Zeenat consoled her daughter. "And if he tries anything like that, Ammi and I will help you elope from here," Najma added causing everyone to chuckle.

Zoya tried to call Asad but he wasn't picking up. After 2 missed calls, she received his text. "I am with the lawyer finalizing the paperwork. Anything urgent?" it read. She sighed. Maybe she shouldn't worry him. He was all the way in Mumbai and she was sure he would freak out if he came to know about Haider. "Nothing, just wanted to talk," she replied with a smiley face. She sat in her room and pondered over the possible scenarios of why her father was inviting Haider and his family for dinner. If he wasn't going to go against her will and force her to marry Haider, then why would he come here? Stupid phone call! She thought. If the call hadn't interrupted them, then she would have talked to him, explain to him what Asad meant to her. She closed her eyes and let the memories of their moments overtake her. That made her smile. She couldn't wait for him to return. She missed him. Though they talked, she missed being in his arms, snuggling to him, and kissing him. Zoya blushed at her thoughts. She recalled their kiss in Jaipur, how she wished to do it again at this moment. "Allah please, if Asad and I are meant to be together, help us to overcome whatever hurdles that the world and this society keeps throwing at us. Just have Asad return safely and make Abu realize that I love Asad, I love him dearly," Zoya prayed as she stared outside at the bright sun.

Later, Asad called Zoya back and inquired if everything was fine. "Yes Asad, what I can't call you just to talk," she teased. But, he could hear the worry in her voice. "Of course you can! But, I feel like there is something," he said. "There is something but I want you here to tell you that when you get back. Come meet me in the front garden when you return," Zoya told him. "Zoya, what is wrong?" he asked seriously. "I could ask you the same thing?" she pouted. "What?" Asad said confused. "I mean you have been ignoring the topic of going to Siddiqui industries again. I know they must have said something but you won't tell me what it is," she accused. "Ok fine, we will talk tonight," Asad agreed. "That means there is something?" she said hurt. "Zoya, I just didn't want to bother you," he tried. "Anything that has to do with you doesn't bother me Asad, I should know," she told him. "I know and I am sorry. Just give me till tonight and I will tell you everything," he said. "Promise?" Zoya asked like a little kid. "Yes, promise," he said with a smile. "But, I am still mad at you, remember that," she warned him. "I will make it up to you," Asad said. "What is that mean?" she asked confused. "You will know tonight," Asad teased. Zoya couldn't wait to meet him but she wouldn't tell him that. She was supposed to be upset with him. "Are you going to say anything?" he asked, disrupting her thoughts. "Not until you get here! Take care and return safely," she told him and ended the call. Asad sighed, he was going to have a lot of explaining to do, he thought.

That evening, Zoya was really scared to go downstairs. Najma had informed her that Haider and his family was here. "Do we have to go down?" Zoya asked draping the dupatta of her pink anarkali on her left shoulder. "You know Abu wants you there," Najma stated. "Why? Do you think he is going to get me engaged or something?" Zoya said, and the next instant gasped at her own idiotic thought. "You have seriously lost it, come let's go!" Najma said. "Can't you go down and tell them that I am sick, running a fever maybe," Zoya tried her luck. "Zoya, the faster we get over this, the sooner you and Asad can have Abu and Ammi's blessings, and move forward. I know it's scary but it will be fine, I am right with you," Najma said as she took Zoya's hand in his and caressed it. "You are right, let's go," Zoya agreed and they walked downstairs. As soon as they reached the living room, Zoya felt very uneasy at the piercing eyes of the Haider's family. She greeted them and took a seat next to her mother. Her father kept talking as if nothing had happened in the past week. What was going on? Zoya kept wondered as she nervously clammed her hands together. Anwar then invited Haider and his family for dinner. At the table, Zoya kept glancing at her phone, hoping for it to buzz soon. Asad should have reached, she thought. She kept playing with her food as she really didn't have an appetite. "Zoya, eat something," Najma whispered. "I don't want to eat," Zoya said. Najma looked at her concerned. She too was scared about what was going to happen that night but she knew that she had to be strong for Zoya.

After dinner, the families gathered in the living room again. "Wajid Bhai and Seema, I thank you all for coming today," Anwar spoke. "Anwar, what is it? Why have you invited us here?" Wajid asked. Zoya, Najma, and Zeenat looked at each other with a look that said, "They didn't know either." "I want to apologize for what happened that night when you all came to our house to talk about Zoya and Haider," Anwar said. Zoya felt her heart race with anxiety. She feared about the unknown. What if her dad announced her alliance with Haider? No! That can never happen. Her heart belonged to Asad and she could never imagine living with someone else. Her eyes brimmed with tears. Najma moved closer to her and wrapped her arm around Zoya's shoulder as a sign of comfort. "I know Zeenat and I invited you here wishing that our long friendship can turn into a relationship. However, Allah had other plans," Anwar said as everyone looked on. "I want my daughter to get married just like any parent but I would never force her into a relationship that she didn't want to be in," Anwar said as the rest of the Farooqui family smiled. Anwar folded his hands together, "I apologize sincerely for any problems that you all have to go through by coming here but I can't give you my daughter without her consent," he declared. The ladies now had tears in her eyes that were wetting their cheeks. "I hope that this won't affect our friendship," Anwar told them. Wajid and Seema actually smiled. They didn't want any girl to be forced into a relationship with their son. "Of course it will uncle," Haider spoke up. "I am sorry for everything my parents might have said that day," he added. "No beta, situation was such that we all were upset," Zeenat said. The friends again asked for forgiveness and hugged each other. "I know we haven't met him Zoya but I wish you and Asad best of luck for the future," Haider said as he walked up to Zoya. "Thank you and I am really sorry," Zoya said sincerely. "Don't say that Zoya, you should never say sorry for loving someone," Haider said with a smile. Soon, Haider and his family left. Zoya ran up to Anwar and wrapped her hands around his waist. "Thank you Abu, thank you so much!" she said as more tears filled her eyes. "I am sorry beta, I was so worried about the family honor that I couldn't see what you were going through," Anwar said. "I should have told you guys Abu but everything happened so fast I didn't get a chance," Zoya sobbed. "I can't see my princess in tears, please don't cry," Anwar consoled. This made Zoya cry harder. Her father hadn't called her a princess in so long. "Now why are you crying?" Najma asked. "I don't know, I am happy I guess," Zoya pouted causing everyone to laugh. Najma started to tickle Zoya making her laugh. Anwar and Zeenat looked at their daughters smilingly.

At that moment, Zoya's phone beeped. She excused herself hoping that it was Asad. She couldn't wait to share the good news with him. Zoya picked up her phone and saw his message that said, "I am waiting outside." She told her parents that she would be back soon and skipped out of there happily. Zoya ran outside where she saw Asad waiting at the back gate. She opened the metal gates and ran into his arms. He smiled as he picked her off the ground in his arms. "I am so happy," she declared. "I am honored," he teased. "Oh not you, Abu told Haider that he would never give my hand in his against my wish," Zoya said happily. "What? He was considering it?" Asad asked shocked. "Asad focus, it is done! Haider is gone, I mean they are still are family friends but nothing more," she explained. He smiled hearing the news, "And what did he say about us?" Asad questioned. Zoya realized that Anwar hadn't said anything about Asad or them. "He didn't have a chance to talk about us. Just as Haider left, I got your message and left from there," she told him. "Oh! So you are not happy to see me?" he asked her. "I didn't say that," she said playfully. "And I am supposed to be mad at you anyways," she added and turned away, crossing her arms across her chest. Asad pulled out something from his jacket and bought it in front of her. Zoya looked at the pink rose he held and immediately broke into a smile. "Wow, that was easy," he said. "I can't stay mad at people I love for long, and plus you got me a rose," she squealed taking the gift from him. He strode closer, "what did you say?" he whispered. "I said that I can't be upset with people I lo...," she stopped realizing what she had said. A blush crept up her cheeks as her eyes moved to the ground. "I love when you blush," he said as he tucked a stand of hair back in its place. Zoya smiled, "we are supposed to talk to each other," she reminded. "I know, come let's sit in the car," he suggested. Zoya nodded and they got into the car.

"Ladies first, so tell me!" Asad said because he knew that what he had to say was going to be harder. "Well I called this morning because Abu was inviting Haider, he really wouldn't tell us what was going on. I was afraid that Abu was still thinking about the proposal, so I called," she said honestly. Asad felt the blood drain out of her face and Zoya saw his body stiffen. "Asad I told you, nothing like that is happening. Everything is fine. Abu has already refused," Zoya comforted. "I know...but losing you scares me," he told her. "I am not going anywhere, breathe," she said as her thumb rubbed his cheek. Asad released the air he was holding in his lungs. He moved forward and engulfed her in a hug. Zoya caressed his back, "Asad, I am right here, it's ok," she murmured. Zoya was really concerned about him. There was a lot going on from the past week, and she doubted he would tell Dilshad everything. He wouldn't want her to worry either. They broke apart and he pecked her lips, "I love you Zoya," he said causing her to grin. "Asad, though I can't tell you my feelings, just know that I care, I care a lot and I am never ever going everywhere," she told him. He moved and captured her lips in his again. Their last kiss was slow, unsure, like someone learning a new thing. But this time, it was fierce and she could feel his hunger for her. Her whole body shivered at the feelings he poured onto her with the kiss. He finally broke apart, both gasping for air. "Now tell me what happened in Mumbai?" she ordered. Asad took a deep breath before he spoke, "I met Tanveer!" he declared. Zoya looked at him shocked as an involuntary grunt left her lips.

Flashback

Asad has made an appointment with Mr. Siddiqui's secretary so he could meet him and give his resignation. He also wanted to apologize for the trouble that he was partially responsible for on the wedding day. However, when he entered Gaffur's office, Tanveer was in the room. "What you doing here?" Asad asked surprised. "Oh Asad, it's my dad's office. And I am partly an owner of this company. I should be the one who is surprised," Tanveer said cheekily. "But my appointment was with Mr. Gaffur Siddiqui," Asad firmly stated. "Well I am sorry to disappoint, but he is busy with something important so I am here instead," she said. Asad debated for a minute if he should just leave. He will deal with this later. But, if he left now, it would mean he would have return later or may be come back to Mumbai again. No! He wanted to stay far away from here as possible, he decided. "Ok then, I wanted to drop this off for Mr. Siddiqui, effectively immediately," Asad said as he moved forward and placed the envelope on the table. Tanveer stared at him, "what is this?" she questioned. "My resignation, I might have personal problems with you and your father but I wouldn't offend my professionalism," Asad told her. "Oh I see," Tanveer said as she picked up the envelope from the table. "Thank you," Asad said. As he turned to leave, "Oh Asad or is it Mr. Khan now that you no longer work for me?" Tanveer mocked. "Asad is fine," he said turning towards her again. "You know Asad, even now you could totally drop all this and come back," she said sweetly. "I don't want to come back, I have decided to move to Delhi," he told her. "That's a pity! You would leave everything here and move just for that girl," She taunted. "Maybe having money and luxury is everything for you, for me home is where my love is," Asad argued. "Love huh? I challenge you that I will make your life so horrible that you will forget her," Tanveer warned, hatred spilling in her words. "The day I forget her will be my last!" Asad yelled. "I don't expect you to understand all this Tanveer; you are obviously not capable of it. But, you even hurt a hair on Zoya's body, I will strangle you to death," He roared. Tanveer stumbled back seeing the rage in Asad's eyes. "You won't be able to do anything Asad, I will ruin you and Zoya and the media will make my plan so much easier," Tanveer threatened. "I promise you one thing Ms. Tanveer Siddiqui, you might cause problems but you will never be able to break our bond, our love is stronger than you can ever comprehend," Asad challenged and walked out of there.

End of flashback

Zoya was scared; she was terrified of what Tanveer might do. She has already caused so much trouble in her life, things were starting to become normal again, she thought sadly. Zoya wrapped her hands around his waist and snuggled in his chest. "I am scared," she told him. "I don't know what else she wants. I know that she was hurt because of what happened but she has no right to disgrace our families like this," Zoya went on. Asad encircled her waist and pulled her closer. "Shhh...Zoya...listen to me, nothing is going to happen," he told her. "But Asad, you know what she can do...she set this up from the last week," Zoya said. "I know, but I will take care of it," he said confidently. "How?" she asked as they broke apart. "Do you trust me?" he probed. "Of course Asad," Zoya replied immediately. "Then meet me tomorrow morning at 10, I will send you the address later," Asad said. "But, why Asad? What are you going to do?" Zoya said confused. "Please Zoya, I will explain everything tomorrow morning, just meet me there ok. I have to go now, Ammi must be waiting," he requested. "Ok, bye! Take care," she told him. "I will miss you," Asad said. "Me too," she said and kissed his cheek. The next moment, Zoya opened the car door and disappeared into the darkness. Asad smiled as he touched his cheek and drove off.

Later that night, Zoya sat in her room thanking Allah for making things a little better. Step one: her dad had rejected Haider from marrying her, thank god for that. However, her dad hasn't said anything about Asad. Should she bring it up? What would she say? That would be awkward, talking about her boyfriend to her father. No...bad idea, she told herself. Just then, there was a knock on the door. She called the person in and was surprised to see her father. "Abu," Zoya said as she stood up. "I had to talk to you beta," he said. "Yeah Abu, let's sit here," she said nervously as she motioned to the sofa. Anwar nodded and they took a seat. Zoya patiently waited for her father to speak. "Why are you scared Zoya?" Anwar asked. "Because what you are going to say is important Abu, very important," she honestly replied. Anwar smiled as he caressed her head. "Zoya, I know a lot has happened in the last week. You probably think your Ammi and I are really evil. But we just want the best for you," he explained. "No Abu, I can never think that," Zoya expressed. "I know that you like Asad but I don't know if I trust him enough to give my daughter to him," Anwar said and Zoya looked at him tensely. "But, I am willing to give it a try," he added. "Really?" Zoya broke out in a huge grin. "Let's do one thing, invite Asad and his family over tomorrow night for dinner. We will talk!" Anwar told her. "Omg! Abu I love you, thank you so much," she said excitedly as she threw herself in his arms. Anwar chuckled at his daughter, "Zoya, we will talk first," he cautioned. "I know but at least now there is a chance," she said happily moving out of his arms. "Thank you Abu, I promise you will not be disappointed," Zoya said. "I hope so too beta," Anwar said as he moved forward and pecked her forehead. "Thank you again Abu," Zoya said and Anwar smiled in response. As soon as her father walked out of the door, Zoya picked up her phone and dialed. "Asad...you won't believe what just happened? Abu came and said that he would want to meet you and he has invited you for dinner. I am so happy so excited. He said he wants to talk but I know he will like you, of course he will. I just know it!" Zoya was talking at lightning speed and yelling over the phone. Asad had to keep the phone away from his ear so he wouldn't go deaf. He still didn't understand how she could speak all that in one breath. This girl...no my girl, he thought smilingly. "Asad, are you listening?" she asked. "Yes, and I am very happy," he told her. "So, you should come tomorrow, around 7, yeah that would be good," Zoya said happily. "Ok, I will tell Ammi," he agreed. "I can't wait for tomorrow," Zoya said excitedly. "Me too!" Asad told her. Tomorrow was a big day. Zoya was nervous and excited about Asad meeting her parents. Allah, please make them like him...no actually love him, she prayed. Asad, on the other hand, was also happy and anxious about what was going to happen tomorrow. He was happy that Zoya's parents have finally agreed to meet him. But, he had decided to do something very big tomorrow. He was hoping that he had made a right decision.

It was 9:50AM the next morning and Zoya walked into the destination that Asad wanted her to be at. She scanned around the hotel lobby, why has Asad called me here? What do we have to do here and where the heck is he?" she murmured as she kept walking. She was looking at her phone when suddenly she bumped into someone. Her feet stumbled and her eyes went wide in shock but his strong grip around her middle prevented her from a fall. She looked up into his cocoa brown eyes and lost herself in them. The beauty that was in his arms at that moment mesmerized him. She was dressed in a half sleeve white lace dress that had an empire waist line and went down to her knees. Her hair was in loose curls with just kajal adorning her eyes and lip gloss. She looked eternal! Coming back to reality, "Asad, where have you been?" she asked. He snapped out of his trance and stood her up. "Sorry, my phone was on silent. I was trying to call you but the phone kept going to voicemail," he explained apologetically. "Oh ok. Why am I here Asad? Asad took her hands in his, "I am holding a press conference," he stated. Zoya was stunned at his words. "You are doing what?" she said, still in shock. He repeated the same again. "Why Asad? What's the need?" she said puzzled. "I am done ignoring what Tanveer is trying to do. I am not going to let her hurt you or us anymore," he told her determined. "But Asad, things are getting better. Even Abu has agreed to meet you now," Zoya disputed. "That is not going to give you back the respect you deserve, or the clients you lost," Asad said. "I don't care about the clients," she told him. "Yes you do, I can see it is upsetting you, and even Najma told him about more cancellations in the past couple days," Asad probed. "You asked Najma? What is wrong with you?" she screamed causing some people to turn towards them. "Come with me," Asad said. "I am mad at you," she said. "You can be mad at me in private too," he replied. She huffed and started walking. Minutes later, Asad took her to one of the rooms on the ground floor. "Now can I yell at you?" she asked, her hands folded across her chest. "Look Zoya, when I called a couple days ago from Mumbai, you sounded worried. And you wouldn't tell me what's going on so I decided to find out," Asad explained. "That doesn't mean you involve my sister," she retorted. "But, you tell Najma everything?" Asad said confused. "That doesn't mean I want you to ask her," Zoya said. Asad still gave her a puzzled look. "Asad, I love Najma to death. She is my sister, best friend, and confidant but that doesn't mean I want you to tell her what's between us. I don't ask her what she shares with Imran and I want it to be the same way with us and her," Zoya said truthfully. Asad understood her now, he was just concerned. He moved closer and pulling her closer, wrapping her arms around her waist. "I am sorry Zoya, I just wanted to know you were alright," he said. Zoya sulked. It was really hard to be angry at him when he had that look on his face. That look that made him look like an innocent little kid, which made her stomach flutter. "Don't do it again," she warned. "Then you have to tell me when you are upset," Asad stated. "I was going to tell you, just after you return. I didn't want to worry you when you were there," Zoya said. "Am I forgiven?" he asked moving closer and nuzzling her cheek with his nose. Zoya closed her eyes as her skin burned on his contact. "Asad, stop," she pleaded as her knees felt weak at his touch. "Tell me you forgive me," he said in her ears. "Ok fine, but this is blackmail," she whined, making him chuckle. He moved apart but still held her hands in his. "Zoya, I don't know what this press conference is supposed to do but I want to clear everything that has been happening from the past week, I at least want to try. I think you deserve respect and it is my duty and will be my honor to get that back to you," Asad said honestly. Zoya felt tears brim in her eyes just listening to him. What did she do to deserve to have Allah bring this guy into her life? "Hey, what happened?" he asked cupping her face. "I am fine, let's do this," she told him. "Are you sure?" he questioned. "Yes, I know you won't do anything wrong," she replied. "I hope I never let you down," Asad said as he moved forward and sealed her lips with his. They moved apart and he intertwined his hands with hers and they left the room.

A little bit later, Asad took Zoya to the conference room he had booked for the event. Zoya was fine until she walked into the room. Seeing the journalists, the cameras, and the people, she suddenly felt nervous. Asad could feel her pulse race against his hand. "It will be ok," he whispered to her. Zoya just smiled at him. They walked up the stage and stood by the microphone. Asad was right in front of it, and Zoya stood next to him. He turned to look at her and she smiled encouraging him. He took a deep breath and started, "Ladies and Gentlemen, thank you for coming here. By seeing you all here, I get hope that you want to know the truth just as much as I want to tell it. I know from the past one week, there has been a lot of baseless rumors and accusations thrown at me and Zoya. And today, I hope I can clear them," Asad firmly stated. Zoya saw this new side of him, he sounded so calm but yet there was a subtle line of authority in his voice. He sounded very businesslike, she thought. "First and foremost, I want to clarify that Zoya is not responsible for what happened. She is not to be blamed. I was never into the marriage with Tanveer from my heart. Mr. Siddiqui forced me to accept the proposal by threatening me. Tanveer might have loved me, but I never did. At first, I thought I would learn to accept her, like her, and maybe even love her. However, that never happened. She was rude, disrespectful, and made me feel beneath her. I still kept going, I wasn't someone who was going to back away from my promise. But, as the wedding became closer, I saw something in Tanveer that I could never imagine in my future wife. She was hurting people, people that meant a lot to me (he was thinking about Tanveer hurting Zoya with the bulbs, being rude to Dilshad as he talked.). Then, Zoya walked into my life like a fresh breath of air. When I saw her, something happened. Eventually I realized what I was doing was wrong. Marriage should be out of love, understanding, and respect, not a forced arrangement. And that is when I decided to break the wedding. Zoya came into my life and saved me from drowning, which is the only thing she did. She has nothing to do with the decisions I made for my life. Doesn't everyone have the right to choose who they spend their lives with? Don't I? Why do I have to explain why I chose to love someone? I believe it is not fair and I hope that you all will be fair enough and responsible enough to stop blaming anyone for my decision. And if you really want to blame someone, then you should ask Mr. Siddiqui why he wanted me to marry his daughter even when I had no feelings for her? You should tell Ms. Tanveer Siddiqui that she might be perfect according to her but that doesn't mean you can make someone love you. Also just because I hurt her, she does not have the right to hurt Zoya or her family," Asad finished. By the end, he had become emotional and was screaming. Zoya stood next to him and was sobbing silently. Even she hadn't known all this till today. She knew that it must have been hard for him to express all this in front of so many people. Asad was waiting someone to react, but nothing happened. The room sat in silence. He turned towards his love who was crying. "Zoya," he said shocked. "I...I...I don't know what to say," she said as she threw herself in his arms not caring who was present in the room. Asad smiled and wrapped one arm around her waist, while the other wiped her tears. The next instant, the room broke out in claps. Asad felt relieved. He felt like he had achieved what he wanted to. His intention was not to hurt Gaffur or Tanveer, he just wanted to clear the air and stop people from hurting Zoya, him, and their families.

As they got into their car to leave, "oh my god, what have we done Asad?" Zoya said. "What do you mean?" he asked. "We didn't think about anything and said all that. What would Aunty say? And my parents?" she said horrified. Asad shook his head and pulled over to the side of the street. "Zoya, we did this for the better of things, remember," he said. "I know but I am scared about how Ammi and Abu will react, I really don't want anything to go wrong now," she said sadly. "Nothing will happen. You saw the response in that room, I am sure our families will support us too," Asad said hopefully. "Me too," Zoya said still hesitant. "Don't go all quiet on me now, I can't see you like that," Asad told her and moved forward to pull her into a kiss. Zoya could feel his passion overpower her, but she didn't care. She was willing to let go off herself in his arms. It felt good, made her feel like she belonged. They kissed each other hungrily for a long time, and broke apart when they both needed air. Asad caressed her cheeks as their heads stayed pressed against each other. "I love you so much," he confessed. Zoya looked up to meet his eyes, "I wish I could tell you what I feel," she said helplessly as a lone tear escaped her beautiful eye. "You don't have to. Remember I told you that I would wait for you forever, that is a promise I am going to keep," Asad said as he kissed her forehead. "I can't wait for tonight," she said happily as they broke apart. "Me too," he said and they started to drive again.

So the press conference is a success? But how will Zoya's parents react to it? And what about the dinner? What will happen there? Keep reading to find out!

I know I am late, so sorry. This chapter needed some really hard dialogues so I had to think about that a lot before I write. Thanks for your support always 🤗, cant wait to see your comments on this chapter 😊
