Chapter 9
Zoya sat near the balcony staring in the dark rainy sky, lost in thoughts. The water from the rain was occasionally splattering from the metal railing to her face. Normally, she would have been dancing downstairs enjoying the weather, drinking coffee and eating pakoras. But, today...today was not like every day. She gained and lost the love of her life in a matter of hours, what do you call a day like that? She wondered. There were no more tears to shed, her eyes felt dry. Her face was puffy and red with all the crying she has been doing from the past few hours. After he had left, she just couldn't control herself. It was a like waterfall has erupted in her eyes and a volcano in her chest. The burning pain filled her body making it numb. She looked at the phone in her lap, waiting for it to ring but it didn't. Zoya had tried calling Asad multiple times, but his phone kept going to voicemail. Was he ok? Did aunty and him find a place to stay? Why wasn't he answering his phone? May be he was upset at what has happened. Of course he was upset, but why wasn't he talking to her? What did she do wrong? Was he mad at her? Her brain was firing questions at lightning speed and she had no answers to any of them. More tears made their way down because she didn't know what else to do. Her parents have locked themselves in their room and wouldn't come out since. She herself has urged Najma to leave her alone. She just wanted some time, some time to think about everything. But, her mind was engulfed in these dreadful thoughts about why Asad wasn't answering her phone that she couldn't focus on anything else. "Where are you?" she thought worried as she dialed his number again. Again voicemail, "arghhh!" she internally yelled before throwing the phone to the floor. "Hey, you know you are going to need that if he is going to call you," Najma said walking into the room. "What's the point? He doesn't even care. If he did, he would have called, texted, done something!" Zoya exclaimed. "Do you realize that he is new in an unknown city with no place to go?" Najma said as she took a seat adjacent to Zoya. "I know," she sulked. "But, what if he is in trouble and needs something, or maybe he is just plain angry at me for what happened. I was so stupid...I shouldn't have bought him here. I should have just let him stay back in Jaipur. Or maybe I should have...," Zoya when on blabbering ignoring her sister's comforts. "Zoya!" Najma almost yelled to shake Zoya of her talking session. "Huh...what?" Zoya said. "I know you are worried for him, but this isn't going to help," Najma told her. The next instant, Zoya burst out crying again. Najma just looked at her sister sadly as she moved forward and engulfed her in a hug.
On the other hand, Asad was somehow able to find a room in one the hotels. They had found a room with two single beds. He didn't want to be alone, not tonight. Asad had taken a much needed hot shower and changed into some fresh clothes. He sat in his bed, face buried in his hands. Just this morning, everything had seemed...perfect. Then, it is like it had been taken away from him. Why is it that every time, his life felt like it was perfect, something was taken away from him shattering him deep inside. He felt a crippling pain in his chest thinking about the day he had lost his father, and today. They were similar yet different. His father was gone forever, never to return. But, with Zoya...she wasn't gone, he wouldn't let her. She was just not with him at this second as much as he wanted her to snuggle close to his chest. He felt his mother's hand on his shoulder and looked up. Dilshad had changed before him and went downstairs to order some food for them. She was worried to see the look on her son's face. He looked defeated, lost in a daze. "Asad," Dilshad said worried as she took a seat and her hand rested on his cheek. Asad just wrapped his arms around his mother like a terrified little child. "I don't know what to do Ammi, I thought that everything was ok but then everything...everything...," he couldn't bring himself to share his pain. "Shhh...everything will be fine," Dilshad said caressing his hair. He broke apart, "how Ammi...I don't know how Zoya is. My stupid phone had to break today and I can't even call her. I just want to know how she is," Asad said. "I know beta! Unfortunately, I don't have Zoya or Najma's number," Dilshad said sadly. "Maybe I should go to her house and check up on her," Asad said as he quickly stood up. Dilshad held her son's hand in a firm grip, "No Asad, you can't do that. You going there can make things worse for Zoya, just wait till tomorrow," she told him. "It is my entire fault Ammi," Asad said guiltily as he fell to the bed. "No Asad...you and Zoya are not to blame. Whatever has happened, you two can't change that but you can build a future together. Just don't let your love lose, don't given up on hope," Dilshad expressed. Asad nodded, "I won't Ammi, not anymore," he said determined. "Now, you have to eat. Come," she said as she stood up. "I am not hungry," he said. "Asad, it is already bad enough that you haven't called Zoya tonight, do you really want me to tell her you didn't eat either?" Dilshad said with a slight threat. Asad looked at his mother surprised. "What? You are not two feet anymore that I can tie you down and feed you, now come!" Dilshad said making Asad break into a smirk and follow her.
In the Farooqui house, Najma had forcefully fed Zoya saying that she needed strength if she had to deal with the media, with their parents, and mostly important for Asad. As she finished eating, "Najma, we have to find Asad, I am really worried about him. Come with me," Zoya said as she gulped a glass of water. "But Zoya, where will we find him at this hour?" Najma asked. "I don't know. I will search the whole city if I have to but we have to find him. I have to know he is ok," Zoya said worried. "Zoya, he is ok I am sure. May be his battery died or something, or he lost his phone," Najma said trying to calm her sister down. "But Najma...," Zoya said. "Shhh...breathe. I know a lot has happened, you now need to sleep," Najma ordered. "What? Sleep? No way!" Zoya said surprised that her sister would bring up sleep at a time like this. "Zoe, I am done! You are sleeping," Najma demanded as she placed her hands on Zoya's shoulders and made her lay down. "Now close your eyes and relax," Najma said softly. "But...," Zoya started to protest but her sister's glare made her stop. "Ok fine, but can you please stay here with me tonight. I don't want to be alone," she said sadly. "Of course I can Zoe," Najma said as she lovingly caressed Zoya's cheek. From everything that had happened that day, Zoya felt exhausted. Thought she had complained so much, she fell into deep slumber within a few minutes. Najma sat there thinking about everything. She felt terrible that Zoya had to go through all this. If she could get her hands on that Tanveer, she will rip her head off, she thought angrily. Soon, she too was tired and hit the bed.
The next morning, Zoya jolted up from sleep. Her face was sweating and she trembled with fear. She has just seen a really bad dream, more like a nightmare. She saw that she was going to lose Asad. No...no I have to find him, she thought. Zoya rushed to the bathroom, showered, and changed into some faded skinny jeans and a red top. As she was drying her hair, Najma walked into the room ready for the day. "How are you now?" she asked Zoya. "I am fine, I just have to find Asad," Zoya told her. "Zoya, where will you look for him? maybe you should try calling him again?" Najma suggested. Zoya nodded as she picked up her phone and dialed. Unfortunately, it went straight to voicemail again. "No Najma, no answer again," Zoya said. Najma see the panic fill Zoya's face, "hey...it will be ok. We can go look for him, I will come with you," she comforted. "Ok, we have to go now," Zoya said as they both dashed to the door. Walking out though, their feet halted. Their parents were in the living room drinking their morning coffee dressed for work. Zoya looked at Najma uncertainly. Najma encouraged her to go talk to her parents. Zoya slowly stepped forward, nervous about how her parents were going to react about the topic of Asad again. As she got closer, they looked up at her. "Good morning Abu...Ammi," she greeted, trying to keep her voice as normal as possible. She got no reply. Great going Zoya, this is working out very well, her mind retorted. "Abu, I am really sorry what happened yesterday. I didn't know that the media will blow things out of proportion," Zoya apologized sincerely. "Then why did you give them the chance?" Anwar asked sternly. "Abu, please! Whatever they said is not true. I know Asad was supposed to marry Tanveer but...," Zoya was speaking when her father stood up from the sofa making her stop. "But what Zoya? He left her because he found you? Do you want me a trust a guy like this to be my daughter's partner in life?" Anwar said. "No Abu...circumstances were different. Asad would never do that to me," Zoya countered. "Are you sure?" Anwar asked. As Zoya was about to reply, they heard some uproar outside their house. Zeenat went to the door and opened it to see a group of journalists in front of the house. Everyone was shocked. "See Zoya, this is what Asad has left us to deal with," Anwar said angrily and walked out. "Ammi, please at least you listen to me," Zoya pleaded. "I am getting late for work Zoya!" Zeenat said in the same tone as Anwar's and left.
"Zoya, you think we can get out of here?" Najma asked walking up to her. "I don't know, I don't know anything anymore. Don't these people have anything better to do," Zoya said frustrated. "I will call Imran and see if he can do anything, ok?" Najma asked. Zoya just nodded and left for her room. Why couldn't her parents just listen? What she and Asad shared was real, she knew that, her heart assured her of it every second. She felt tears prickle down her face. Where was Asad? Why wasn't he answering her call? And to make everything worse, this media, she thought as she looked and saw them trying to get a glimpse inside the house. At that moment, her phone rang bringing her out of her thoughts. She saw his name flash on the screen and it felt like fresh air filled her lungs. "Where have you been?" she yelled as soon as she picked it up. Though she felt like she was yelling, Asad could hear the pain in her voice and he knew she had been crying. "You were crying?" he said troubled. Zoya quickly wiped her tears, "No I am fine," she replied. "Zoya, what's wrong? Tell me!" Asad demanded. "I was trying to call you since last night. You didn't answer and I was going crazy. Then, I tried to talk to Ammi Abu this morning but they wouldn't listen. And, there is media outside my house making everything worse," Zoya blabbered, getting out everything she had bolted up since yesterday. "Hey, breathe. I know everything is really crazy but we will work through it," Asad said confidently. "We will?" she said, unsure. "Are you giving up already?" Asad asked, a little hurt. "No no Asad!" Zoya immediately shouted in the phone. She took a breath, "I am sorry. There is just a lot going on. How are you and aunty? Did you get a place to stay? Did you eat something? Is everyone ok?" Zoya spoke all in one breath. Asad was amused, how could she say all that in one sentence. A smile spread across his lips thinking about her. "Asad, say something," she said bringing him out of his thoughts. "Yeah, Zoya we are fine. Ammi is fine too. We are staying at a hotel. In a few days, I will figure something out," He told her. "And you will call me every day," She added. Asad chuckled, "at least once every hour, and I will text you every minute" he said making her smile. "Asad, I am serious," she chided. "So am I," he said. "I want to meet you," Zoya said sadly. "Me too! Should I come over now?" He asked. "No Asad, there is already enough drama going on. The media is outside and Ammi Abu would be really upset," Zoya said dejected. "Can we meet somewhere else?" he asked hopefully. "Where?" she questioned. "Maybe a restaurant?" Asad suggested. "No Asad, people will probably recognize us and you know what will happen," Zoya explained. "I know! How about a mall? There will too many people and no one will notice us," Asad said. "That sounds good. I will text you the address and we can meet in about 2 hours?" she asked. "Ok cool. I can't wait to meet you," Asad said excitedly and ended the call.
Zoya's mood had become better after talking to him. It gave her courage that with Asad by her side, she will be able to solve the issues that they faced. Just need to be patient Zoya, have some faith...in Allah, in you, in Asad, and our love, she told herself. She texted Asad the address of the mall and Najma's number just in case something happened to his phone. Zoya told him to give Najma's and her number to Dilshad too so she could have some contact. He agreed and replied to her message with Dilshad's number. As Zoya was gathering things to go meet Asad, her phone rang. She saw it was one of her clients, "Hello Fatima, how are you?" Zoya greeted. "Hey Zoya, I am ok. Actually, had to talk to you about something important," Fatima said timidly. "Yeah, what happened?" Zoya said taking a seat on her bed. "Zoya, I want to...I called in fact to tell you that I have to cancel our contract," Fatima said. "What? Why?" Zoya said confused. "After what happened, my family isn't...you know what I mean right. I am sorry," Fatima apologized. "But Fatima, the media is just cooking up lies! I swear they are only telling you half the story. At least, let's meet and talk once," Zoya requested. "I am sorry Zoya, I can't. Bye!," Fatima said and ended the call. Zoya sat there shocked. She couldn't believe that Fatima would just cancel her contract based on some stupid media rumors. Well, they couldn't be stupid Zoya if they are affecting your business. Najma walked into the room so she Zoya lost in thoughts. "Hey, what happened?" she asked. "Fatima cancelled the contract," Zoya replied sadly. "Why?" Najma asked shocked. "Because of me," Zoya told her. Najma took a minute to understand what she was trying to say. "You mean because of media rumors?" she asked to confirm. Zoya nodded. "Oh Zoe, forget it! We have many other weddings to plan, and none are more important to you," Najma comforted. "But Najma, this is a matter of our business, our company. They can't just tarnish our reputation," Zoya said. "I know. Just give it some time and everything will be ok," Najma told her. "I hope so," Zoya prayed. "Were you going somewhere?" Najma questioned looking at Zoya's purse next to her on the bed. "I was going to meet Asad, but now," Zoya said unsure. "Oh come on Zoe, go meet him. Just because of a cancelation you are not going to go? Get up!" Najma said as she stood up and pulled Zoya up with her. "Talk to him, good luck!" Najma wished as she pulled her sister into an embrace. "Thanks Tamatar!" Zoya said. They broke apart and Zoya picked up her things to leave. Reaching the front door, she realized that the back door would be a better choice as the media was still hovering around.
An hour later, Asad and Zoya sat in one of the quiet corners of a Delhi mall. They sat together on the metal chair as his hand wrapped around her waist and she held his other hand in her own. "How are we ever going to solve all this Asad?" Zoya asked worried. "We will figure it out love, we just need some time," Asad said. "You know Asad, Ammi Abu won't even listen to me. I just want a chance to talk to them," Zoya said frustrated. "They are just upset Zoya, I am sure it hurts them to see their daughter flashed on the screens day and night," Asad explained. "I know. I can't believe Tanveer would do something so cheap, I know that she was hurt but she had no right to pull my family into this," she said furiously. "I want to go to Mumbai and kill her with my bare hands," Asad agreed. "No Asad, please don't do anything like this. I don't want to lose you," Zoya said scared. "Hey...you are not going to lose me, that is not happening ever," Asad assured as he pulled her closer to him. "I want to live with you Asad, and I want to do that with my parents' blessings," Zoya wished. "InshAllah, it will happen," Asad said. "Ok, forget all this! Let's talk about something nice," he suggested. "Like?" she asked confused. "Like how many kids you want?" Asad asked making Zoya's cheeks turn red. "Asad, what are you saying," she said as she playfully hit his shoulder. "I am just asking," Asad said nonchalantly. "How many do you want?" she questioned. "Hmmm...11...no actually 12," Asad replied as her eyes popped out of its sockets in shock and her jaw dropped to the ground. "Are you crazy? 12?" she almost yelled but realizing where they were, lowered her voice. "Yup! I want a whole cricket team, and one extra so when someone gets hurt while playing, we have an extra player," Asad explained with a playful grin. "If you want 12 kids, then find someone else. I can't do all this," she said as she moved out of his grip and stood up. "Why not? It will be a lot of fun," he teased catching her wrist. Zoya felt the butterflies in her stomach create havoc inside. He stood up and pulled her closer. "Asad, what are you doing?" she whispered. "You know why else I want 12 kids?" he asked nuzzling her nose with his. Zoya closed her eyes as a tingle ran down her spine. "Because I can't clone you," he told her. She opened her eyes and looked at him with a puzzled expression. "I want 12 parts of you running around in my house so I can love you 12 times more than I love you now," he said. Zoya broke out into a blushing smile. "You are seriously crazy," She said looking deep into his eyes. "And that is what you love about me," he teased making her giggle.
Just then Zoya's phone ring interrupted them. They moved apart and Zoya dug her phone from her purse. "Hello," she answered. "Hello Zoya, Sonia here," the person on the other side. The next few minutes, Asad saw different emotions play out on Zoya's face as she tried to persuade the person on the line. Finally, she dejectedly ended the call. "What happened?" Asad asked worried. "Nothing, I should just get going," Zoya replied. "Zoya, what's wrong? Please tell me," he pleaded. "Since the morning, this is the second client that has canceled our contract, they don't want me to plan their weddings anymore," Zoya said upset. "Why not?" Asad asked. "Because of the baseless rumors that these TV people are putting on me. I can't believe that they could easily accept the baseless accusations that are shown. What if they were saying the same about them? Would they agree on that too?" Zoya yelled. "I am sorry," Asad said as he pulled her into a hug. "I don't care Asad, forget it," she said as they broke apart. Though that's what she spoke, her eyes expressed something else. She did care. Asad could see how she was trying so hard to contain the tears at the edge of her beautiful brown orbs. "We should probably leave," Zoya said trying to change the topic. He nodded in agreement and they started to walk away. She didn't even a few steps when her balance rocked and she stumbled. "Zoya...are you ok?" Asad said wrapping her arms around her shoulders. "Yeah, I am fine. Just a little dizzy," Zoya said holding onto her head. "Have you eaten today?" he said. Zoya looked at them then nodded her head negatively. "Zoya, you have to be more careful. Come!" he ordered. "Where?" she asked as they started walking. "To eat something," Asad told her. "No Asad, I am fine. I should go home," Zoya told him. "No! I am not letting you go home like this. Just come with me," Asad said as he took her hand in his and pulled her with me.
After leaving the mall, Asad drove to a small restaurant nearby. He ordered a sandwich and juice for her, and a cup of coffee for himself. "Are you not going to eat anything?" she asked. "No, I am fine. Unless someone, I actually had breakfast," Asad taunted. "I wasn't hungry Ok, stop," she pouted. "Only if you eat the food I have ordered for you," He stated. "Fine! I will eat it," she said with a smile. After she finished eating, Asad drove them back. Zoya told him to go at the back of the house because the media could still be in the front. He agreed and drove to the adjacent street that led to the rear of the house. As Zoya was about to get out of the house, she felt darkness in front of her eyes. She held her head and closed her eyes. "Zoya, what happened?" he asked worried. "I feel dizzy," she said. "Wait," he told her and got off the car. He came to the passenger side and scooped her up in his arms. "Asad, what are you doing?" she said surprised. "Carrying my girlfriend inside the house so she doesn't fall and hit her head, I already have enough problems to deal with, don't need one more," he said with mock seriousness, making her chuckle. As they neared the gate, a hoard of people surrounded them. "Mr. Asad, what is wrong with Zoya? Why are carrying her?" the media personnel questioned. Asad quickly placed Zoya on her feet but still held her close in case she fainted. Zoya tried to remove her hand from her waist, but he wouldn't let go. Asad didn't answer as he pushed through the crowd and reached the gates. He safely sent her inside. Zoya turned to say something, "Go inside and be safe!" he said. "But Asad, how will you," Zoya said troubled. "I will be fine. However, before I leave, I want a promise from you," he whispered. "Promise?" she asked confused. "Please eat on time, I won't be able to live if anything happens to you," Asad pleaded. "Asad I...," she started to speak when he interrupted. "Promise me please," he said. "Ok promise," she said. "We will talk later, take care bye," he told her and left. Zoya locked the gate and went inside. She couldn't believe that the media have reached here also. What were they going to do? "I hope Asad reaches back safe," she prayed as she walked inside the house.
As she reached inside, Zoya saw her sister tensely going back and forth in the veranda. "Zoe, oh thank god you are back, Ammi Abu have returned," Najma informed. "What? So soon?" Zoya said shocked. "Yeah, they were having problems at work due to the whole media rumors. So, they came back earlier," Najma said. "Oh no! This is just going to get worse," Zoya said worried. "What do you mean?" Najma said confused. Zoya explained to her how Asad and her were returning home and about the media surprise/shock that was waiting for them. "You should probably talk to them," Najma suggested. "And say what? They don't even listen to me," Zoya said frustrated. "I know, have some patience, Allah will take care of it," Najma said giving her a side hug. Zoya nodded and the sisters walked inside. Later, Zoya freshened up and changed. She went to talk to parents but seeing them watching the news about that afternoon and videos of her in Asad's arms didn't help the situation. They walked away not listening to her pleas once again. The next morning, Imran visited them. "So happy that you are here, you have to talk to Zoe Imran. I am really worried about her," Najma said pulling him into a hug. "Don't worry, I am here na," Imran said as they broke apart. Najma took him to Zoya's room where they saw her sitting near the balcony with a cup in her hands. "I gave her coffee like an hour ago, I don't think she has taken even a sip," Najma whispered to him. Imran just nodded and knocked on the bedroom door which was ajar. Zoya turned her attention to the noise. Seeing Imran, she quickly wiped her cheeks and smiled a little as she greeted him. "How are you?" Imran asked as he walked up to her. "Ok, I guess," Zoya replied dazed. They all took a seat. "Zoya, I know a lot has happened but you can't just lose hope," he told her. "What else am I supposed to do Imran? Just when I think that maybe things are getting better, everything just becomes worse," Zoya said sadly. "I am sure its hard Zoya but you have to realize that if you don't put force towards this whole matter, then uncle aunty might not do anything," Imran explained. "And Zoya, if you love him then you have to fight for it," he added. "I am scared," she said hesitantly. "Zoe, we are here na! Remember that you are not alone," Imran said. "And of course, Asad will be here too in spirit of course," Najma teased making Zoya blush. "Oh he makes you blush, I have to meet this guy," Imran chuckled making Zoya turn redder.
That night, Zoya was waiting for her parents to finish eating so they could talk. As her mother stood up to pick up the plates, "Ammi, I need to talk to you," she said nervously. "Please Zoya, I don't want to discuss what you want to talk about," Zeenat said. "Abu please, just listen to me once!" Zoya requested. Anwar pushed his chair back and rushed out of there. Before Zeenat could leave, Zoya held her wrist. "Ammi, please...I really need to talk," Zoya said as her eyes filled with tears. "Ammi please," Najma said. Zeenat nodded and sat down. "Ammi, please don't believe what they are saying in the TV and stuff, I promise you it is not true," Zoya pleaded. "I know that is not true Zoya. It just hurts that you chose to go down this path," Zeenat said painfully. "Ammi, this path is called love. I have feelings for him Ammi and I haven't even admitted that to him openly because I wanted you and Abu to bless us first. I wanted you guys to accept Asad. But without giving me, him...or us a chance, you and Abu were furious over what the newspapers had to say," Zoya said hurt. "Do you think it is easy to see something like this about your daughter on TV and the newspapers? Everyone has been asking us about all this," Zeenat said. "Ammi, I don't care about what everyone thinks, I care about what you and Abu think. You guys are the important ones," Zoya said tearfully. Zeenat moved forward and pulled Zoya into a hug. "I am sorry Ammi, I know this is not something you had planned for me but all I am asking is giving Asad a chance, for me. And about what Abu said, I know that he was supposed to marry Tanveer and things didn't work out. But, Ammi, that marriage was a forced one! He never was in it with his heart but I feel a connection with him, a very deep one. And, I trust him Ammi. I know he won't break my heart," Zoya said confidently. Zeenat just nodded as she rubbed Zoya's back to comfort her. They broke apart and Zeenat wiped her cheeks. "I am sorry Zoya. After how I found about all this, I was just angry I guess. Just angry about how people were accusing me, your Abu, and our family with all these false blames. I guess me and your Abu were just hurt, and needed someone to hold at fault," Zeenat expressed. "Ammi, this is all Tanveer's doing, she is the one who called the media and set this all up," Najma told her. "I am sorry Ammi," Zoya said. "Me too beta!" Zeenat said as she pulled her forward and pecked her forehead. "Will you talk to Abu for me? I don't want to choose between Asad and him, I can't," Zoya said honestly. "I will try," Zeenat stated as Zoya smiled hopefully.
By the time Zeenat went back to bed that night, Anwar was already asleep or at least that is what she thought. Anwar had heard his daughter cry for her love. What he saw cringed his heart with agony. He couldn't see his little princess crying like that. She was begging for him, was he really that important? She has been with him for not even a month. And how could he trust the guy that left another girl at the altar to be with his daughter? No! His daughter deserved better, she did, he decided. The next morning too he had left before Zeenat was even ready, she never had a chance to talk to him. Later that evening, Zeenat waited for him to return so he can talk to him. When he didn't show up past dinner, Zeenat had called him only to be informed that he had some work and will return late. "This is an old habit Anwar, ignoring things doesn't solve them," she thought sitting in the living room. She had told Zoya and Najma to go to bed as she wanted to talk Anwar alone. It was almost past midnight when the house door clicked open and she saw her husband walk in. "Anwar, where were you so late?" Zeenat questioned. "Just had some work to finish at the bank," he told her. "What work Anwar? That too so late? Never have you stayed there till this time, don't lie to me," Zeenat stated. "Zeenat I am tired, can we please go to bed," Anwar said as he started to walk towards their room. "Anwar, we have to talk! How long do you think you can ignore this, your daughter loves him," Zeenat told him which halted him in his tracks. "Zeenat, do you really think he is the right guy for our daughter?" Anwar said getting angry. "She loves him Anwar! You can't just tell her to forget it and expect it to happen," Zeenat explained. "What do you want to do Zeenat?" Anwar sighed. "Just give them a chance. Meet Asad and get to know him. Trust your daughter's decision," Zeenat said taking his hand in his. "No!" he jerked his hand out. "This is not right Zeenat! I have told Zoya to forget him, and if she doesn't then it is me or him that she has to choose between," Anwar yelled. "That's not fair Anwar," Zeenat said. "Of course it is!" Anwar defended. "Really? Then answer me this Anwar, if I asked you to choose between me and your mother if she were alive today, who would you choose?" Zeenat asked. Anwar looked at her shocked. Did his wife just ask him that? "You have no answer right? Because there isn't one Anwar. Your mother and I have very different but equally important roles in your life, it is not right to make you choose one. Just like that you can't tell our daughter to choose one either her father or her love," Zeenat told him as he looked at her.
Upstairs, Zoya was in bed but she was talking to Asad about what was happening with the media. "Zoya, the news is starting to fade, everything should be ok in the next few days," Asad comforted. "I hope so. And I hope Ammi can talk to dad and sort everything out," Zoya said hopefully. "Everything will be fine but listen, I have to tell you something," he said. "Yeah, what?" she asked. "I am planning on leaving for Mumbai tomorrow," Asad said. "What? Why Asad? Is everything ok?" She shot out questions at him. "Zoya relax! Everything is fine. I just have to go back to resign officially from Siddiqui Company and also to sell our house," Asad replied. "You think going back is a good idea?" she asked concerned. "I have to Zoya. I want finish everything there, it is needed if I were to make a new start here," he told her. "But Asad, you want to sell your house too?" she asked unsure. "I have to talk to Ammi too, and she thinks it is right. If we sell the house there, then we can use the money to do something here," Asad said. "I wish you didn't have to go there," she pouted. "I will be back before you know it," he told her. "Hmmm," she said lost in thoughts. "Now don't do this...come on smile for me," Asad told her. "I am smiling," she said pursing her lips together. "I know you are not. You are pouting because I am leaving, now smile for real," he ordered. Zoya was shocked at first but her lips broke out in a huge grin. "I will miss you," she said. "Miss you more!" Asad told her as their conversation came to an end.
Is Asad going back a good idea? Will returning to Mumbai make things better or worse? Will Anwar agree? Will Zeenat be successful? Keep reading to find out!
