Why TV stars avoid on-set food

They may be big names on Indian television but the Tulsis, Parvatis and Salonis are served stale, unhygienic food on the sets. We asked some telly stars about this 'food' for thought.

Sharad Kelkar (Nahar, Saat Phere)
"You are right. On sets, the food is not so fresh so I generally avoid it because ultimately it is going to affect my health. Earlier, when I was shooting for Sindoor, I had a stomach upset and that day onwards I avoid on set food. I prefer fruits, juices and ghar ka dabba."

Jeetu Malkani (Pranay, Kahaani Ghar...)
"The food served on the sets doesn't suit me. I like food which is made by my mom as I love to eat simple, non-oily food. I have a stomach ache problem so I avoid food that is not fresh. I carry juices especially orange juice which keeps your mind fresh and body fit."

Jai Bhanushali (Neev, Kayamath)
"Oh God food on the sets is masha-allah! It's oily, oily…I don't know from where they bring it so I just order from outside or fruits are best option. It's a routine we can't help it as it comes in bulk. The food which the whole family eats in the serial is just action. We don't eat in real."

Sharad Malhotra (Saagar, Banno Main Teri...)
"No set food for me. The caterers put baking soda which is not good for anyone but for an actor it's like poison because one puts on weight. I just have some curd with khichdi."

Gunjan (Archita, Kyunki)
"I never have food on the sets as it is too oily. I drink soup everyday as it is very good for health."
