Hi everyone...
I am new in this thread n am not sure if it's an invitation only thread...but I would to put forward my views...

Firstly, a bow to the makers of this thread... 👏

Secondly, I would like to share some experience of mine here...

Once, I came across a joke on Facebook...

Optimist says 'Glass is half full'
Pessimist says 'Glass is half empty'
Feminist says 'Glass is being raped'

There was a quote made by a famous person once, 'Only ugly women become feminists'

Being a feminist myself, I felt extremely outraged but I realized this joke was made because both men and women dont know the real meaning of feminism...Feminism is not bashing men but fighting for equality...
Unfortunately, this meaning has got lost in translation n hence now people make fun of feminism...
One side vehemently practises 'feminism' by bashing every man while the other side make fun of it by considering every feminists as frustrated souls...Amidst this gender war, the true essence of feminism is lost...

While I too have a lot of anguish against some males, my anguish is mainly directed at misogynists n chauvinists...I admit that there are many many decent men n many indecent women on this planet as well...

I absolutely oppose unnecessary bashing of men n blaming them for everything, but I guess this attitude comes with the kind of experiences people have had...People who have grown up in balanced environments might be ambivalent to such ideas but a girl who has grown up watching her mother being oppressed by the men in the family will probably have tendency to have anguish towards the male gender...Thus, this whole feminism being misunderstood is not an isolated situation...it is a part of a long chain reaction...
Women are oppressed...the later generations grow resentment towards men...some of them go overboard with their resentment n start bashing the men...n this in turn triggers caustic comments from men who start hating feminists n making fun of them...

This problem needs to be irradicated from the root...by establishing equality...
But wat is even more important is opening the mindsets of women in general...

Often I have seen, that is it's the women who bash other women the most...When such women become mothers, wat do they teach their children? So, we women have to change first...open our minds...be ambivalent n thrive for equality...

Finally, I would like to comment on the concessions given to women...

Quotas, less interest, less fees for CAT forms, etc.

Since we are for equality, we women should not ask for any unfair advantages...but at the same time, it is also true that all these concessions are there for a reason...
Even today, there are companies which pay less to women for the same work done by men...
There are families who refuse to pay 10 lakhs to send their daughters to B-schools but would happily pay the same amount for the sons...
Some of us may be lucky to be born in progressive families but there are many still who are fighting for it...
These concessions are mainly for them...n once the equality is achieved( which is probably impossible), then only this can be removed...Otherwise, women will go on struggling for equal position...

Sorry for making such a long post... 😆

Hats off to to the makers of this thread again... 👏

Great topic! I totally agree with everything written. So many people, both men and women, have taken advantage of the concept of feminism so that it's made a mockery of today.

Men need to understand that feminism isn't anti-men, and women need to understand that feminism is about equality, so they shouldn't expect any unfair advantages.

I witnessed a very ironic situation the other day. A man was holding the door of his car for his girlfriend when they were going out on a date, and the girlfriend got very offended because she felt the man was considering her "too weak" to get in and out of a car by herself. She labeled him a chauvinist, but later when they were having dinner at a restaurant, she expected him to pay the bill for them both.

So I'd like to ask the girls out there not to give men a confusing message. If you don't like men holding the door for you, then don't expect him to pay the bill. A bill should be split, or you guys can take turns paying it every time you go out, but why is it always the man's duty to pay the bill at a restaurant? If you're so offended by a man holding the door for you, then why aren't you offended by this?

I've also witnessed so-called feminist girls getting offended when men don't give them their seat in crowded buses. I feel only pregnant women and old people should be offered seats. Otherwise, women can stand just as well as men.

There are so many mixed signals out there that it makes feminism confusing for so many people.
