Part 11
Another of his night passed in deep thoughts and he reached absolutely no conclusions; only one question he had for death, why every misery was written in his life only? She moved herself adjusting to his warmth as he settled beside her in the bed, taking her in arms seemed to soothe all his tensions except one. He had been I a futile fight with himself which broke him slowly into two parts taking away every bit of his peace.
The third session with the psychiatrist was due tomorrow, and surprisingly it was for him not Geet. The last two sessions doctor had discusses the entire history of the case and he had tried to tell her all to the best of his knowledge and she didn't take a minute to tell a solution. She was very experienced no doubt with 15 years of practice in the field but how can he just go ahead and do that, it was not anywhere ethical and most importantly an abuse to his love. With a heavy heart he slipped into a light sleep, the feeling of something big coming on his plate was so strong these days that he was unable to shrug it off.
Dr.: Mr. Khurrana, you do not understand what I am trying to say.
Maan: I can understand, but if only baby is the cure can we not adopt?
He asked unsure.
Dr.: there you go wrong again; baby is her cure, but a baby coming out of nowhere will not help her; she needs to feel everything from the point of conceiving to the delivery.
Maan: how can you be so sure?
She looked at him stupefied but smiled inwardly at his concern about her, how much love does this man holds she thought and couldn't stop herself from feeling a little jealous with Geet; women as they say, can drink every emotion, but not jealousy.
Dr.: I am a doctor here and not you.
She countered little sternly making Maan to take a back foot but he had to make her understand.
Maan: no doctor, I didn't mean that; you are not getting my worries. She is not in a state that I can go ahead consummate my marriage and make her pregnant. How will she react when she comes back to her senses, just think once!
Dr: well, I do understand your concern, but you cannot leave the only hope to make her fine fearing the consequences; Geeta me bhi likha hai...
Karmanye Vadhikaraste, Ma phaleshou kada chana,
Ma Karma Phala Hetur Bhurmatey Sangostva Akarmani
You have the right to perform your actions, but you are not entitled to the fruits of the actions. Do not let the fruit be the purpose of your actions, and therefore you won't be attached to not doing your duty.
Take your time to think about it is all I can say.
They were sitting in the couch side by side watching T.V. he made her head rest on his shoulder; she had never refused to anything he did to take care of her or she was not in sense enough to know what was happening; while he made sure to keep her beside all the time he is home doing anything at all with a never ending hope to find something which makes her react. He was flipping through the channels when suddenly his eyes stopped at a news channel flashing "Breaking News".
"We are currently at the central jail, and the breaking news from here is the famous superstar Vikram Khanna who has been in news recently for his divorce case and subsequent judgment of the same is reported to have commit ted suicide last night."
As soon as the news registered in his brain, it was bound to make him happy beyond limits as there was no big a punishment for that man then dying in self-loath. But the very next second he was horrified to see Geet's reaction to it; she got very wild at the mere mention of his name and started to struggle in his hold. Before he could understand her state and react to it she got hold of the vase at side and threw it hard at T.V making it to break into pieces. By that time he was quite in action and immediately hugged her tight to clam her down, her body seemed to lose all weight and energy in his arms and when he separated thinking she is sober, his eyes widened in horror to find her already passed out.
Maan: this is a good sign, is it doctor?
Maan asked with mixed emotions, as one side he was too happy to see her showing emotions, but at the same time to afraid too, to find it so intense.
Dr.: I am afraid, it isn't. in fact it seem to head onto worse.
She showed her worry on the matter...
Maan: but why? I mean we are trying hard since last so many days and she doesn't respond and now when she did you say it's not a good sign.
He argued back vehemently and doctor sighed.
Dr: see Mr. Khurrana; I have seen many cases like this and I can exactly understand her condition. As for your question; all her life she didn't have anything to call her own, when she got married she must have dreamt about her future with her husband which didn't turn out well, things got buried in her heart loneliness and frustration, her baby was her only hope which fate brutally snatched from her; after the baby as you say she didn't react other than crying on the court at the time of punishment. She still had that anger inside for him, and that had been the reason of outburst; and now as I said, she does not have anything in life to hold onto; nothing at all, neither love nor anger nor hatred as he is already dead, she knows god has done justice to her. I fear she may try to end her life or things like that.
He gasped at her words and then like something cracked inside, it was his heart but it was not cracked but broken into uncountable pieces and the pain was evident in his face which he tried hard to hide. He looked at the doctor now with a fake smile on his face.
Maan: why am I not anything to her yet?
She remained silent not knowing what to reply, for nobody could answer that other than the one who was in the question. She had come to his love which was like worship to him and admired it very much but least could she help him with the same. Love is a disease that comes without cure, she thought.
Dr.: only time has answer to your question, trust me on that.
She spoke trying to balm his heart as friend this time. It was easy to fall for a man like that she thought, but then Geet was not in the right sense for the same. How he wished to find someone like him, at the age of 42 she was still single; never was she convinced that any man can love any woman that much, but this man had given a new angle to her thoughts with his love for his wife.
Precap: hmm, lemme think na 😛😉
